What is Laremy Tunsil's worth in a trade?

David Tepper is 63 years old and reportedly worth 15 B and he's made his fortune in the market so this is a man who's not only extremely wealthy and also probably extremely confidant of himself. And he got rich taking some chances, so this is a a man who knows how to
evaluate risk.
Would the Panthers fork over their first round pick for Watson and would NC/Mcnairs settle for that ? I dunno what say you ?
BTW that's the 8th overall.
He will fork over the equivalent 31's and a of three #1's and Brian Burns or the Texans just hold on to DW4 until next yr and draft a QB in 2022. Nothing has really change even with all of these allegations. Get what Caserio wants for DW4 or keep him.

People need to put all of this BS aside and get the best value you can for DW4 but dont under sell his value.

The world has changed radically in the last few days and we dunno when and if DW4 will ever be worth three first round picks again ?
An aggressive bidder might come along between now and the NFL Draft (that's the Draft this year in Cleveland), and make NC an offer
that he might seriously consider to remove this problem.
OK so remember how stupid and foolishly the Texans practically gave D-Hop away to the Cards because they wanted him gone ASAP ?
Cal & Janice & Easterby are still there calling the shots and nothings to say they won't make another stupid decision to ship DW4 out of
town ASAP.

I want him shipped out of town for the right price.

According to the Houston Chronicle there are still teams that want him and are not dissuaded by this fustercluck.
Just sayin
Nobody is going to touch him until they know the extent and outcome of all of the accusations. At a minimum DW4 is on hold until the NFL finishes their investigation of the matter. Caserio has known for over 2 months they were going to trade him. By not striking when the fire was hot is a major FUBAR.

Now is not the time to rob Peter to pay Paul. Kicking the can down the road in a potential 0 -16 season is complete buffoonery. Caserio clearly does not know what he is doing here. They have already pushed $5MM in dead cap money restructuring Cooks. Caserio is throwing good money after bad. Good Grief, just when you think it can't get any worse, it does and it will continue. Spending damn money like a delinquent teenager at the Mall who has stolen Daddy's credit card. This is NOT the way you improve and rebuild a team successfully.

Why do some of you gents think we will go 0-16 without any games being played?

That doesn’t mean they will go 0-16 this year. Come on dude you’re reaching with this one now.
Am I? I think you're the one with a bad case of Wishful Thinking. My point about 0 - 16 is not so much my prediction as it is the Texans are the worst team in the league. When you begin to rebuild and plan for the future, now is not the time to be borrowing $25 million from future years. Now is the time to be prudent and responsible not irresponsible and downright foolish. Now is the time to get your financial house in order. Instead of crippling the ability to rebuild in the immediate years ahead. Caserio has no perspective and this proves it.

Do you understand that teams cap opens up by over $100 million next off season? It’s like you are blind to anything positive the Texans can do.

Yes you are. You’re trying to convince people on here that they will go 0-16 because they had a bad year with Watson and Watt ( not the same superstar game changing player he once was) as a benchmark to what will happen in 2021. That really doesn’t make sense for several reasons.
1. You have a bunch of new players.
2. You have new coaches, OC the same and a new DC and new defensive scheme.
3. Strength of schedule. ( in which is tough because they play a lot of teams who made the playoffs).
4. On paper a better running back group.
5. Possibly a better offensive line group with a much better coach than Delvin.

Nobody really knows how this season will unfold.

The 2022 cap is expected to increase to somewhere about $220M. Now is a good time to borrow forward. To get our house in order, the Texans need cap space this year. We don't know what is happening behind the scene with Watson, but the cap space opened up with this restructure has possibilities.

They’re going to keep him. Doesn’t make sense to trade your best linemen at this point.
Just for discussion let's look at trading Tunsil straight to LAC for Bosa. Chargers would have 28 million dead money with Texans 22 dead money. The key is the Chargers would be getting tunsil for only 1 million dollars for this season and very reasonable amounts the following 2 years.

Texans get Bosa for $13.75 m for 2021. Is that attractive to each team?
Edit..post June 1 trade lowers dead hit immensely.

Just to clarify I am not saying that La would trade versus straight up for tonsil but Houston could increase that package is I have suggested before by throwing Brandin Cooks in.

Most definitely, Bosa is a game changer on the defensive side of the ball.
But will the Chargers tango with us is the question? Would they even entertain getting rid of one of their best players? Are they in need of a LT?

Yes. Tre Pipkins allowed five sacks 58 PFF. Aboushi is left guard. Also if they do a post June 1st trade the dead money is spread over the contract. LAC hit is $7 m four seasons with Houston $8m for three Seasons. That is extremely workable in my opinion for those two players

New TV deal beginning in 2023 is for over a hundred and ten billion dollars. That is TV only and does not cover any other such as radio.

Now who are you going to get to protect whoever plays quarterback backside? That’s a very important position correct?

So, even though a contract is signed and is projected to take up X percent of cap space, the contract can be restructured at any time to free up cap space? It could be restructured one year after signing the contract? Wow! That's madness. Based on some of the posts in this forum, it seems that once you sign a contract, the percentage of cap space was fixed and couldn't be reduced. :kitten:

I think the point is that there's no reason if your goal is to tank in 2021.

But it doesn't look like Caserio is trying to tank.

I don't know what he's thinking, it's a tall order to bring in a brand new HC & 75 of 90 new players to a team & expect to win.

As I mentioned earlier the tunsil trade would also have to be accompanied by a trade of Deshaun somewhere for a high draft pick. Using the Chargers example, Watson for Herbert and 1.13 would allow that draft pick to go for a left tackle. Personally I would trade it down and get a left tackle later and a wide receiver with additional trade pick.

I haven't begun to look at our schedule, but I don't think it unrealistic to aim for being competitive against bottom 16 teams and depending on strength of schedule, aiming for 6 to 8 wins.

Our oline will be streets better as will our run game.
Tyrod Taylor is no monkey. He doesn't have the whizz bang of DW4 but he doesn't turn the ball over.
I think we win at least 6 with an easier schedule.
In a year of rebuild you've to embrace the suck. The way to improve your team is by improving your draft capital like Jax and Jets have done. Trying for a middle of the round draft pick is not the way to get better. Neither is trading away draft picks for below average players or mortgaging the financial future.
