The 2022 cap is expected to increase to somewhere about $220M. Now is a good time to borrow forward. To get our house in order, the Texans need cap space this year. We don't know what is happening behind the scene with Watson, but the cap space opened up with this restructure has possibilities.
Just for discussion let's look at trading Tunsil straight to LAC for Bosa. Chargers would have 28 million dead money with Texans 22 dead money. The key is the Chargers would be getting tunsil for only 1 million dollars for this season and very reasonable amounts the following 2 years.

As I mentioned earlier the tunsil trade would also have to be accompanied by a trade of Deshaun somewhere for a high draft pick. Using the Chargers example, Watson for Herbert and 1.13 would allow that draft pick to go for a left tackle. Personally I would trade it down and get a left tackle later and a wide receiver with additional trade pick.
I haven't begun to look at our schedule, but I don't think it unrealistic to aim for being competitive against bottom 16 teams and depending on strength of schedule, aiming for 6 to 8 wins.

In a year of rebuild you've to embrace the suck. The way to improve your team is by improving your draft capital like Jax and Jets have done. Trying for a middle of the round draft pick is not the way to get better. Neither is trading away draft picks for below average players or mortgaging the financial future.
