Texans provide positive update on RT Tytus Howard
During Tuesday's practice in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, the Houston Texans had a scare when starting right tackle Tytus Howard left practice early. Howard, who enters the first year of his three-year extension signed last offseason, went to the blue medical tent and didsports.yahoo.com

Howard did not practice Wednesday, but he was one of several players not to dress out in what was more of a walk-through. He could be cleared to play Friday evening along with the other starters, but Houston might elect to wait a week and let him rest, though Ryans said the injuries won't change the approach to starters seeing the field.
Meh, just no point in aggravating a niggle right before the season proper.but they didn't address the nature of the injury at all. Seems kinda sus that he might not play Friday.
Not really. There's a long list of players who will not be playing. Had he not had this little incident, he likely still would not be playing.but they didn't address the nature of the injury at all. Seems kinda sus that he might not play Friday.

'Cause...Why not? He’s been full go all camp long. No restrictions.
Stroud is going to be playing. Not really. There's a long list of players who will not be playing. Had he not had this little incident, he likely still would not be playing.
I took it to mean that NFL football is like a track and like life. You are on the track until you are not.Stroud is going to be playing.
Look, he didn't mention what the injury was. He said even if he doesn't play Friday he'll be on track... what's that mean?
exactly. No reason to be optimistic about his non-response. No reason to be negative either. I get the feeling some are reading this thinking, "Whew, it's not that bad."I took it to mean that NFL football is like a track and like life. You are on the track until you are not.
Coach speak..
Didn't want to turn the training camp thread into the injury discussion thread part 2.It is a patellar tendon injury aggravation.
Yes. That is what I have been told.Didn't want to turn the training camp thread into the injury discussion thread part 2.
Is this the same knee Howard had surgery on last year?
And that is bad news.Yes. That is what I have been told.
well thats not good...whats the likely hood of him being out for a significant time during the season??Yes. That is what I have been told.
Not based on just his recent issue but based on all of his previous knee injuries and surgeries, I would be surprised if his upcoming season is not significantly affected.well thats not good...whats the likely hood of him being out for a significant time during the season??
And this is why I argued up and down with people that we needed to take a tackle high and luckily we drafted Fisher. Not based on just his recent issue but based on all of his previous knee injuries and surgeries, I would be surprised if his upcoming season is not significantly affected.
Still not practicing.Any word on Juniors ankle?
Still not practicing.
thats good news, we are gonna need his motor and relentless pursuit to shutdown and contain RichardsonTexans edge rusher Will Anderson has missed some time this month with an ankle injury, but it looks like the 2023 defensive rookie of the year is on the right path for the September 8 opener against the Colts.

DeMeco Ryans: Will Anderson "doing real good" in recovery from ankle injury

Yep hopefully it all works out. Danielle Hunter who the Texans added this offseason in hopes of building a formidable duo off the edges of the defense. If all continues to go their way, they’ll get a long look at the partnership right out of the gate.thats good news, we are gonna need his motor and relentless pursuit to shutdown and contain Richardson
I bet Caserio signs Boyle to the PS. Slowik seems to like Boyle.
Don't know where Colin gets his info... this is Keenum's 12th year per HT.com His first year was 2013 with the Texans
I dunno are the retirement benefits substantial ?
To me it is substantial. To someone who made $3m/yr while playing, not so much:I dunno are the retirement benefits substantial ?
This is the kind of stuff that will make players want to play for the Texans if all things are equal.

Just a little additional "hang your hat" info. The link below gives as much info about the NFL Pension Plan in general as I've ever found. Not to mention the NFL retirement eligibility is after 3 years, not 10.
It's MLB that has a 10-year fully vested requirement.
I found no such "fully vested" requirement in the NLF pension plan, just the standard the more years you play the higher your pension will be. But maybe I missed it.

NFL Annuity Program
This program can provide another source of income. This depends on how much was contributed by the NFL in each credited season of a player. Here is a breakdown of what the typical pension in the NFL looks like today:
- The average NFL Pension is about $43,000 per year.
- The highest NFL Pension is about $201,453 per year
- The lowest NFL Pension is about $19,800 per year.
He deserves every penny!Jon Weeks has entered the chat!
That dude must be cashing in! He has been playing what? 15 years almost?
I wish my parents had pushed me towards the lucrative career of NFL long snapper growing up…Jon Weeks has entered the chat!

No I wanted to be Reggie White or Julius Peppers… without the size, strength or speed!
Despite what people think the long snapper position actually does require quite a bit of athleticism. Our boy Weeks is quite undersized but is super quick and kind of a unicorn for the position.I wish my parents had pushed me towards the lucrative career of NFL long snapper growing up…

There you go, ruining hopes and dreams.Despite what people think the long snapper position actually does require quite a bit of athleticism. Our boy Weeks is quite undersized but is super quick and kind of a unicorn for the position.
TBH encourage your son to get into the O&G business. A career will provide him with, today, a pension much greater than the NFL average, company matching 401k contributions, good salaries, etc. College students hating on that industry don’t understand it.Haha, this is my plan for my 2 year-old son! I'm going to decorate his room with Jon Weeks memorabilia, and teach him the line, "Sorry Coach, I only long-snap." The other option was a career like Ryan Palmer, who's that you ask?--exactly! He's a PGA golfer from Amarillo, whose had a long career of making PGA cuts. Unfortunately he's going to be tall, so he may not have the repeatable stroke to make it to the third-level of golf, so long-snapper it is!
Good money and benefits but many do not like the roller coaster ride.TBH encourage your son to get into the O&G business. It’s not good money if they can’t get steady work from it. Too many layoffs.Good money and benefits but many do not like the roller coaster ride.
Yep. It is all speculation for now. Hoping we have just kept him on bubble wrap to be 100% for the Colts. But definitely worried, we need a maxxed out year 2 WAJ for this run. When Aaron Wilson asked about Will Anderson Jr. status, Demeco replied that he's been dealing with an ankle injury and he feels good about all of the players. Anderson was running last week and is trending toward playing against the Colts. Still sounds more like coach speak..................will have to wait a week to find out...................hopefully without re-injury for too soon a return.
DeleteGood money and benefits but many do not like the roller coaster ride.
That roller coaster looked like opportunities in my 30's and 40's. Now in my 50's is looks like I just need 5 more years.Good money and benefits but many do not like the roller coaster ride.
yep...you mean putting a football in a 12 inch square 95% of the time with two 300 pound dudes on either shoulder is harder than it looks on TV.Despite what people think the long snapper position actually does require quite a bit of athleticism.
