If the surgery was performed laparoscopically, which it is almost always done today, an occasional surgeon has allowed football players back after only 1 week................something I believe is chancey. Two to three weeks is more advisable.

Having gone through a ruptured appendix and diverticulitis with a 5cm abscess, I concur.

It feels like every third game they'll give Dare the ball and he'll rip off a good one. Likely because of that surprise factor.

That said a lot of those situations are 3rd and long and you shouldn't really be running it even if it's Derrick Henry back there.

Really good reason I’ve mentioned the RB from Penn State, Nicholas Singleton. I believe he’s got the goods to be an excellent tandem back with Mixon. He’s a big back (6-0 @ 227 lbs) with 4.35-40 speed. He’s a solid receiver out of the backfield and is good at picking up the backfield blocks. This is the guy the Texans need in the backfield. A RD2 will be the minimum investment needed to land him. He’s another guy that becomes a hot target, if he pops a 4.35-40 at the Combine.

With a bell cow like Mixon as the lead guy amd signed for next two years, I seriously doubt the Texans invest a 2nd in a RB. We drafted the kid last year. Name eludes me. He might get a real look in 25. But more like 4th-7th Round. Add a guy somewhere in that area. I could also see them look at a FA. But there is still plenty good rotational backs available on day 3 and even in the UDFA pool.

Mixon has been injury prone and when he’s off the the field, there just can’t be that big of a drop in production. That’s a single point failure going forward. I think Singleton could be a Mixon clone in short order….only a bit faster. I also like the idea of having a rookie like NS learning from a guy like Mixon.

So many needs, so few draft picks !
 
Tank Dell's knee injury reminds of other Texans knee injuries. IIRC, we had a offensive line right tackle who dislocated both of his knees on the same plate without being touched by an opponent. Very serious surgery.

Because both Greens suck. Scruggs sucks. Fisher is unproven, Patterson seems to be injury prone. The fact that the team seems hellbent on giving Kenyon every chance, regardless of performance, tells me that Caserio is trying to prove that Caserio didn't draft a bust. Giving Tunsil & Howard HUGE contracts also factor into the equation. They have sucked this year. Caserio simply isn't good at evaluating the OL.

Yep Kenyon Green is under contract thru next year ('25), so he's probably gonna be here a while9
longer as it would seem that Caserio would be reluctant to absorb a dead money hit from an early departure.

Cap savings Kenyon ~ 750k even more important is the roster space he would open up which could be significant. No reason to keep him around despite dead $

Kendrick Green filled in pretty good for against a good defense. You are probably the only one that thinks he sucks.

You think Caserio is telling Demeco how to run his team? Again, you are probably the only one that thinks that.

Caserio put together a better o-line last year working the waiver wire and through trades than the one we have seen this year. That tells me it has more to do with coaching.

Am I saying Caserio is great at evaluating o-line? No. But I ain’t saying he sucks either. The worst o- line under Caserio has been this year. No coincidence based on the offensive coaching.

Green and Howard can be cut next year for cap savings from what I heard here.
 
Tytus Howard's cap figure next year is $23.075M. His dead cap (if cut) is $21.100M, a paltry savings of under $2M. We're not cutting him this offseason.
Kenyon Green's cap figure next year is $5.076M. His dead cap (if cut) is $4.351M, a paltry savings of 0.75M. We're probably not cutting him this offseason.

Both provide a lot of cap relief AFTER next season. Same for Tunsil.

That is a difficult one buddy. The cost is about the same either way so I value the roster spot. Not a prediction but simply a guess, I think they will hope additional surgery will rehab him enough to be at least a body on the roster.

PolarBear, that is only partially correct and does not include or address a post June 1 cut which allows the dead money to be spread over 2025 and 2026. A June 1st cut would have a savings for 2025 of $14.2 million for Tytus Howard.

It took Dell over 3/4 of the regular season to look like his normal self following the injuries and gunshot wound he sustained this past offseason.

I’m sure he will work very hard to rehab his injuries and the team will say otherwise but you cannot count on him being a significant factor next season. Best case scenario it’ll be a similar outlook of at least 3/4 season before you see a threatening Tank. But now he is rehabbing a worse set of injuries.
