Opposing teams’ heads will explode if Dare is on the field for a run play. That's great. But after clinching the playoff berth, I would like to see the backups getting some carries, as well.

If the surgery was performed laparoscopically, which it is almost always done today, an occasional surgeon has allowed football players back after only 1 week................something I believe is chancey. Two to three weeks is more advisable. How long will Stover be out from his appendectomy? Seems like no heavy work for two weeks? Could he be back for Ravens?? Think he is a big miss in the running game and for sure want him back if we have a bad weather playoff game
We have backups? That's great. But after clinching the playoff berth, I would like to see the backups getting some carries, as well.
Having gone through a ruptured appendix and diverticulitis with a 5cm abscess, I concur. If the surgery was performed laparoscopically, which it is almost always done today, an occasional surgeon has allowed football players back after only 1 week................something I believe is chancey. I don’t know if I’d label Ogunbowale a back up. He’s like our most valuable and diverse backup. He’s a very important person on our team.Yep I agree Ogunbowale and wup with Pierce?

Them pulling Mixon off the field on very 3rd down is patheticI heard that every time he is on the field it is a pass.
Part of the problem with predictable play calling.
It feels like every third game they'll give Dare the ball and he'll rip off a good one. Likely because of that surprise factor.I heard that every time he is on the field it is a pass.

Prior to last Sundays fake punt, Dare had 25 carries for 68 yardsIt feels like every third game they'll give Dare the ball and he'll rip off a good one. Likely because of that surprise factor.
Pierce has 15 for 100 yards of which 8 went for 76 against New England. Really poor running back room behind Mixon and really poor run blocking all round.Prior to last Sundays fake punt, Dare had 25 carries for 68 yards
Davis might miss Chiefs due to illness and Keenum on IR/retirement. Our nomination for backup quarterback is...?

Really good reason I’ve mentioned the RB from Penn State, Nicholas Singleton. I believe he’s got the goods to be an excellent tandem back with Mixon. He’s a big back (6-0 @ 227 lbs) with 4.35-40 speed. He’s a solid receiver out of the backfield and is good at picking up the backfield blocks. This is the guy the Texans need in the backfield. A RD2 will be the minimum investment needed to land him. He’s another guy that becomes a hot target, if he pops a 4.35-40 at the Combine.
And FG Kicker!I don’t know if I’d label Ogunbowale a back up. He’s like our most valuable and diverse backup. He’s a very important person on our team.
With a bell cow like Mixon as the lead guy amd signed for next two years, I seriously doubt the Texans invest a 2nd in a RB. We drafted the kid last year. Name eludes me. He might get a real look in 25. But more like 4th-7th Round. Add a guy somewhere in that area. I could also see them look at a FA. But there is still plenty good rotational backs available on day 3 and even in the UDFA pool.

I thought he was activated before the last game? Before the shuffle with Howard.G Kenyon Green

Chiefs f'king with the injury reports... I hope he plays on his bum ankle.I've been told that Mahomes is in significant pain with his high ankle.
The nomenclature of "activation" is confusing. The Texans "activated" his 21-day practice window on Dec. 9.I thought he was activated before the last game? Before the shuffle with Howard.
Derek Newton. He didn't come back.Tank Dell's knee injury reminds of other Texans knee injuries. IIRC, we had a offensive line right tackle who dislocated both of his knees on the same plate without being touched by an opponent. Very serious surgery.
Caserio has been subpar on the offensive side of the ball.Pierce has 15 for 100 yards of which 8 went for 76 against New England. Really poor running back room behind Mixon and really poor run blocking all round.
Good to see you back Dex.This injury reminds me of how Charles Spencer got hurt, only at a much higher speed. It was a career-ender.
Yeah, he shouldn't have drafted Stroud/Nico/Fisher/Dell or traded for Diggs/Mixon.Caserio has been subpar on the offensive side of the ball.
You know the other side of the offensive ball...Yeah, he shouldn't have drafted Stroud/Nico/Fisher/Dell or traded for Diggs/Mixon.

Kendrick Green should have played way more than he has to this point. No dropoff fromYou mean drafting Blake Fisher and having Kendrick Green on the roster ready to fill in after Kenyon Green and Shaq Mason get hurt?
The question is why Kendrick Green has been on the bench so long when he is better than Kenyon.
Even a step up maybeKendrick Green should have played way more than he has to this point. No dropoff from
Mason yesterday.
Because both Greens suck. Scruggs sucks. Fisher is unproven, Patterson seems to be injury prone. The fact that the team seems hellbent on giving Kenyon every chance, regardless of performance, tells me that Caserio is trying to prove that Caserio didn't draft a bust. Giving Tunsil & Howard HUGE contracts also factor into the equation. They have sucked this year. Caserio simply isn't good at evaluating the OL.You mean drafting Blake Fisher and having Kendrick Green on the roster ready to fill in after Kenyon Green and Shaq Mason get hurt?

Yep Kenyon Green is under contract thru next year ('25), so he's probably gonna be here a while9Because both Greens suck. Scruggs sucks. Fisher is unproven, Patterson seems to be injury prone. Cap savings Kenyon ~ 750k even more important is the roster space he would open up which could be significant. No reason to keep him around despite dead $Yep Kenyon Green is under contract thru next year ('25), so he's probably gonna be here a while9
longer as it would seem that Caserio would be reluctant to absorb a dead money hit from an early departure.

What's your prediction BB, will Green be on the Texans roster in '25 or not ?Cap savings Kenyon ~ 750k even more important is the roster space he would open up which could be significant. No reason to keep him around despite dead $

That is a difficult one buddy. The cost is about the same either way so I value the roster spot. Not a prediction but simply a guess, I think they will hope additional surgery will rehab him enough to be at least a body on the roster. What's your prediction BB, will Green be on the Texans roster in '25 or not ?
PolarBear, that is only partially correct and does not include or address a post June 1 cut which allows the dead money to be spread over 2025 and 2026. A June 1st cut would have a savings for 2025 of $14.2 million for Tytus Howard.Tytus Howard's cap figure next year is $23.075M. His dead cap (if cut) is $21.100M, a paltry savings of under $2M. We're not cutting him this offseason.
Kenyon Green's cap figure next year is $5.076M. His dead cap (if cut) is $4.351M, a paltry savings of 0.75M. We're probably not cutting him this offseason.
Both provide a lot of cap relief AFTER next season. Same for Tunsil.

We are going to need a significant amount of cap space this offseason to bring back some of our defensive players. Also, there is a hope that we can bring in a significant offensive guard that will cost us a bit.Pay all now or pay later

It took Dell over 3/4 of the regular season to look like his normal self following the injuries and gunshot wound he sustained this past offseason.CNND already posted this in the other injury thread, but I think that one is just for the news and not discussion -
I'm not sure Dell will be able to return from this, and I don't know what the "other damage" is. Maybe Cloak can discuss his thoughts.
