Exaggerate much? This was a dumb statement by Quincy Avery. Too often, it appears Watson's circle run their mouths without thinking or ignore the optics of what they are saying or posting on social media. He could have made his point without the unnecessary shot at the Texans WRs that probably included Chad Hansen, Keke Coutee, DeAndre Carter and Steven Mitchell. BTW, where is Hansen?
Anyone who thinks Avery was talking about everyone on the team or Cooks, Fuller or even Stills is being just as silly as Avery. Sometimes instead of running for the sound bite to get annoyed, consider the source. IMHO. Avery talking about Walmart WRs is hilarious. Because he is a former college WR and couldn't even be a Walmart WR in the NFL. So, with that knowledge, you recognize stupidity and move on.
In other words. We should be laughing at Avery's lack of self-awareness that he is a failed WR and not trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

I'm just basing this comment on the language of the NFL contract that CnnnD posted. If Goodell were to decide that the Watson dilemma was detrimental to the NFL, he may take a new tact. The end of the old contract, which he was willing to see thru, and the beginning of a new contract, which changes the situation, presents the opportunity. I think the odds are he doesn't do anything but he could.

INDIANAPOLIS — Until at least April, NFL teams are going to remain out on Deshaun Watson trade talks. But that’s when two key pieces of information are expected to either create traction for the Houston Texans or make it virtually impossible to deal Watson.
That’s the consensus among a handful of general managers and head coaches that have back-burnered interest in Watson, but also continued to monitor his legal status heading into this week’s scouting combine in Indianapolis. Specifically, the teams are monitoring the slow-snaking course of his 22 civil lawsuits — as well as a grand jury finding that Watson’s lawyer, Rusty Hardin, believes is on track for an April 1 resolution. That date is key for teams because it is expected to unlock two significant pieces of information that franchises are refusing to move forward without: First, will Watson be forced to plead to a felony indictment from a grand jury; and second, if a grand jury declines to indict Watson, what will the NFL determine under its personal conduct policy once there is no threat of interfering with an ongoing criminal investigation?
As one NFC source framed it, “There are way too many unknowns for our [team] owner to sign off on anything. There’s just no way to even have the conversation again without something changing. It’s too risky. We just have to move forward. If something works out and the picture around him gets more clarity, then I think it’s worth considering.”
That’s a common refrain among franchises — the idea that Watson being cleared of criminality opens a path to a trade. At the very least, a grand jury decision would move Watson into a definitive direction that he currently lacks. If he’s indicted on a felony and will face a criminal trial, the possibility of a trade is essentially wiped out. If he’s not indicted, both the Texans and inquiring teams can request clarity from the league office under the personal conduct policy. Watson could still face a significant suspension under the policy, but that can’t happen until after he meets with NFL investigators for an interview following the resolution of the criminal portion of his legal docket.
Once teams know the status of the criminal investigation and then get clarity on where the league stands, it then opens a conversation about the direction of his civil cases. As it stands now, Watson has been ordered by a judge to begin sitting for depositions in the coming weeks in any of the civil cases that do not have a criminal component. If an accuser has not levied a criminal complaint against Watson, his depositions in the lawsuits brought by those women should not be in danger of influencing a criminal charge.
Hardin disagreed with that decision during a court hearing last week, insisting to a judge that none of Watson’s depositions should move forward until the criminal aspect of the allegations against him have been determined.
“Deshaun is more than willing to give his testimony and give depositions,” Hardin said. “As his lawyer I think it would be crazy to allow it until we know what’s going to happen on the criminal side.”
Hardin’s plea was unsuccessful during the hearing and Watson will now be compelled to sit for depositions in the civil cases that don’t have an external criminal complaint tied to them. Eight of Watson’s 22 accusers have pursued criminal charges against him with the Houston Police Department, with the findings having been forwarded to the Harris County District Attorney for grand jury consideration.

It was my understanding that there was a mutual decision by both sides before the 2021 season to not force the issue.

If Watson would come out and say he’d waive his NTC for the Buc’s and Commanders…..things just might start moving on that front.

I have been hearing on podcasts and the radio...Vikings. why would you want to go there if you want to use the city to further your off field interests...no idea. Probably just a rumor. Same with 3 team trade with Texans, Seahawks and the Washington FB Team. Washington would get Wilson, guess Seahawks get Watson. And if I remember correctly we get 3 1st round picks I assume from Washington and Seahawks.
The key will be before opening day 2022. Forget the start of free agency period. And before the draft doesn't seem reasonable. Before opening week or maybe even training camp? That is still possible. And while carrying Watson's $35 million cap hit on the books until that point eliminates any major free agent maneuvering this offseason, that $35 mil can be pushed to the 2023 cap. And by then, maybe just maybe, the Texans will be ready to spend some $$$ on quality free agents and possibly compete. Maybe. Possibly.
This is why I always said this would be a 2-3 yr rebuild. I didn't (Still dont) think Derrick's legal issues will be resolved before the start of the 2022 season. That means the Calhoun's are going to have to carry Derrick's salary for another season.
It's not a murder case. Pretty sure there will be some type of resolution by then on the criminal side.

Maybe not a murder case, but lots of folks here in Houston (not to mention the national audience) are extremely interested in whether or not this is tried in a criminal court which leads me to believe (and for sure not a lawyer here), it doesn't seem plausible that they'd string this out this long if the DA doesn't intend to pop Watson with a GJ session.
Grand Jury has already been called. I don't understand where you're going with the rest.

HPD, the DA and the Grand Jury are all looking into the issue. I think HPD has finished up their investigation. And turned the finding over to the DA and GJ. It's up to them if they have enough for a case and let's be real. They don’t want to take him to court if they don’t think they will win. It's all about winning. Otherwise they skew the W/L record for GJ cases. And it is always a number thing.

Why not trade both and as we are going to have a high pick in 2023 go for Stroud with our first pick? If Davis Mills is considered by many to be better than any quarterback in 2022, why is he only worth a mid to high round two in your opinion? He should be worth Pick 9 from Denver. Many mocks have panthers, Broncos and Washington going for quarterbacks with their first pick.

I get that you dont like Caserio, but Mills is the 2nd best QB so far in this class and since he's played so little he's got a chance to be the best. In fact he was the best the last month of the season. My question is if you dont like Mills, who do you like and what qualities is Mills missing compared to the QB's you like?

i like Mills alright. My ideal guy would be a little bigger, Josh Allen/Justin Herbert, more arm talent.
I think it’s 50/50 that Mills could develop into a top 15 QB. I think it’s 50/50 his trade value will never be higher than it is right now.
