WR position is riddled with injured players. Remember Rick saying you can't have too many corners, same would apply x2 for WR. I can see something addressed, make exception to the rule, problem is, comes with warning labels plastered all over package "fragile" and "breakable". Really like Parker coming out, may have mocked him to Texans, lol, but he's been injury nightmare. The other receiver, who did not play last night, because of injury (groin) Kenny Stills I like a lot more (was he part of CSNY?). Shocked to learn New Orleans traded him to Miami for linebacker Dannel Ellerbe and third rd. pick (Stills was 5th rd. pick out of Oklahoma and fan favorite on draft boards). He is similar player to Fuller, able to separate and stretch defenses. I would part with 3rd pick for him if were Gaine.

Literally the reverse. Junk at receiver vs Junk at corner (college football) ... Junk on offense knows where he's going and be schemed to be where junk on defense isn't. We're not running complex routes, 6'1" with wheels can be our #2 if he can figure out the difference between "15yd out, 15yd turn, 15yd post".

Imagine what our defense could be if we had a good CB while we still have Mathieu?! I’m all for going after a WR since Fuller is out with an ACL, but I’m tired of seeing our CB be bent over every time a QB throws it up! Adding Peterson and hopefully hitting on a good CB via the draft would probably make our defense #1 in the league in passing and run stopping.

Arizona said they aren't trading him, and Peterson doubled down and said he has been frustrated with this season but he is committed to the team, and helping them turn it around. I don't think we see him going anywhere

HOUSTON TEXANS: Buy wide receiver Demaryius Thomas ... or Jordy Nelson. Deshaun Watson is giving a Herculean effort right now, going as far as traveling 12 hours on a bus so he could avoid swelling in his injured ribcage and continue to play hurt. It worked, but in watching Houston's games, it's painfully apparent that outside of DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller and the occasional breakout game from Keke Coutee, the Texans could use some help on offense. Since there isn't any decent offensive line help available this year, the next-best option is to add another experienced target for Watson. Enter Thomas or Nelson. Both should be offered to prospective buyers, with Thomas acknowledging his time in Denver is nearly up and Oakland ready to trade everyone but the quarterback. Potential compensation: Fourth-round pick (for Thomas) or fifth-round pick (for Nelson).
Another suggestion : BUFFALO BILLS: Sell running back LeSean McCoy. It's time to face facts: The 2-5 Bills aren't sniffing the postseason this year, and the 30-year-old McCoy isn't getting any younger. A concussion suffered in Week 7 might complicate his tradability, but McCoy deserves to be freed from a Buffalo team that overachieved last year and is a car sliding across a track and growing ever closer to smashing into the wall. And I'm loving the idea of Patrick Peterson here to take J-Jo's place. I like J-Jo but fact is, he's getting up there. If I can replace an aging stud with a younger stud, I'm doing it.

I have similar thoughts but more I think he cannot be had without our first. He turned 28 July IIRC and his final year of current deal he plays season at 30 which is still prime age. $11 m cap & base '18 &'19 then $12 m his final season 2020. That's crazy good and why I doubt Cards trade him. Also as of now we are at about #25 and if we beat Denver will draft even later. Corner and OT are top spots now but WR may be barking at heels. I think we are stronger with KJ playing a safety with Badger and Reid than as a CB opposite Joseph who was in walking boot. Bademosi excited me at signing but has minimal time at corner so bringing on a pro bowler in his prime whose current stats are very, very good is no brainer.
I do think good corners will be available round 2 & 3 but no one like Peterson is playing now. CBs Greedy Williams and Julien Love should both be gone before our first. OTs Greg Little, Hyatt, Evans there in second to get two or one and a RB like Damien Harris or Kentucky's Snell. OT/OG Scharping in third. IMO even as we drop in rounds due to more wins we still can draft solid players for future but a 3 year all pro at any spot is my focus.

Too many things can happen between now and April, '19 to use the 1st pick on a trade at mid season this year IMO.
For example there's significant uncertainty about Clowneys presence on the team in '19 therefor Gain may want to look at a stud edge rusher in the Draft.
And most of all it's hard to see how any position should be given a higher priority now or in the next Draft than the Oline which is what you do if that pick is used on a non Oline position.

While it is rare to trade in season in the NFL I think when need fits the strength of the market you have to act. Texans need wideouts. Rumor has it some could be available. Inactivity in this position knowing the backup on the team is not sufficient is incompetent. Gaine has the opportunity to better the team AND show the fans he's serious about winning.

BUT ... This is Gaines chance alot of you guys are high in him .. my gut instinct is to see what Buffalo has since that is Gaines comfort zone and Kelvin Benjamin is just too obvious, I wouldn't be thrilled yet it offers an intriguing possibility.

Well, it's not "frequent" like MLB does at their trade deadline. They have 'fire sales' to dump salaries at their deadline.
NFL trades happen more often around draft time (and preseason) than during their trade deadline.
Anyway, that's a nit.
As for me, unless Gaine can find some nut (Gruden?) who will trade us a solid OT, I'd go for a solid WR to replace Fuller.

Analyst are calling this a deep and talented defensive personnel type of draft. If teams decide to scramble for defensive players, this might permit the Texans to trade back and still have their offensive targets on the board while a grabbing a couple of extra picks.
The top two CB's will be long gone before the Texans pick but the OLB from Kentucky, Josh Allen just might be on the board when the Texans turn rolls around. I'd seriously consider him in RD1 if the Texans decide to trade Clowney or he decides to lean towards a holdout if the Texans tag him.

Texans are in the Watson window. They need to try to win while they have the qb on a cheap deal for 3 more yrs. If they can get Peterson , they should do it. He's still young, in his prime at a great price. Demaryius Thomas is under contract for this yr and next. Fuller injury is basically 1yr and a half especially for a speed guy. Thomas is still a quality wr who is really good run after catch. I would get both. 1st for Peterson and a 4th for Thomas. They're loaded with cap room next season.

Some players you have to go for in a proactive rather than reactive plan about what could happen in future. Anytime during a season you can bring in a multi season pro bowler especially at a dire need spot, IMO you have to try. Our Oline while still not great (and it doesn't have to be to go far) has progressionaly become better. Texans can still draft Oline other rounds. I have one in 3rd round with our 4th pick for RT. It is not when you draft but whom you draft. While not a fan of Lamm he is improving and by season's end may be next years starter @ RT. I like Ejiofor who is recovering from hamstring. I also have a late round OLB. There are several quality players should be avail in second & third when we have three picks.
If we continue to win at some point not only does Clowney's worth go up in trade scenario but to remain a Texan.

If we trade our first, there is no corner available at what I project our selection to be --25ish. Two that I like Greedy Williams LSU and Julien Love Notre Dame should be gone top 15. While I disagree with many who say draft will be deep in OTs I do think corner is very deep.
In all due respect Badboy that sprendthrift mentality is exactly what's got us into the situation we now find ourselves in which is the proverbial creek without a
paddle. I don't believe our long-term LT is to be found among Davenport, Lamm, Rankins, or any others on our current roster.
We should hoard that top pick until the right opportunity comes along, the right player comes along to acquire that precious blind-side protection for the franchises most valuable asset.
How long do you hoard? Texans have to do something this year 2019 at the latest imo or Watson's talent is wasted ala AJ, Foster, Watt

Teams are not giving GM's and coaches nearly as much time as they use to. So why look to the future, when those picks you could be holding on to might end up being someone elses if the team doesn't prduced the desired results?

According to McClain on 610 today, and note he did not specifically say Jackson, but teams are asking for high picks for receiver help. 1st and 2nd round picks I think he said, one reason why Gaine won't pull the trigger. If Tampa is going to start Fitz again it will make Jackson happy and probably squash any chance he gets traded
