Mixons thing wasn't domestic violence or unprovoked, different set of circumstances than say tyreke hill, but it's not like the public optics are actually paying attention to details.

Oh it's definitely sketchy but it's also not going to be resolved before the draft so it will hurt him. La'el Collins was innocent too but we didn't find out until after the draft. Mixon and Tyreek Hill had their stuff years before the draft so it was already resolved and part of their evaluation.

Tyreke Hill choked and punched his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach, Mixon punched a woman he didn't in the face after hit was hit and slapped in the face following a verbal exchange, there a huge difference in my mind, the video doesn't change things it actually somewhat helps him, all this talk of mixon going undrafted is ridiculous considering Hill did something far worse and still had his name called

Mixon will get drafted on day 2. His stuff is resolved. I was speaking about how both Mixon & Hill investigations were played out years before the draft while Collins & Lewis were still active during draft.

I guess but it always confounds me that for instance with Ray Rice, there was only uproar after the video despite the police report equally described what happened, seems to me there should have been uproar from jump

Not with what he said, but how people have to be shown 1+1=2 instead of just told or how their reaction is demonstrably different

Words often leave ambiguity which is removed by visual evidence.

E.g. in the Rice case he admitted he struck her and she played off the seriousness and wouldn't press charges. The video showed he knocked the dog snot out of her.
 
I love taking part in these draws, but if I may make a suggestion - it needs to have the mods update the draw (preferrably on the op page) as it progresses so we can see who has been taken without having to scan through 72 pages to try and work out who is left.
That way you can see at a glance who has been taken and who is up next.
 
I think that we should not attack those who missed picks, but simply replace or group pick them instead.

I don't think sports writer set out to miss picks and probably had good intentions, but they did and should be replaced. No need to call them out and trash them because if I was them I probably wouldn't feel welcome anywhere on the forum moving forward. We shouldn't do that.

We all know people will miss picks and should just accept it and have recourse in place.

I'm with @jradMIT though. If a man beats a woman and is arrested for it, I don't need to see a video to have an opinion, nor do I think punishments should be changed because now people that just shrugged it off previously now stand from the roofs in disgust.

There will always be a much greater amount of crimes committed without video evidence than with it.

That's too bad. Live up to your commitment. R Martin is s stand-up silent (most of the time) Draft Guru. No offense to all those who signed up but we're unable to fulfill obligations. It happens & life (mock draft) moves on. Get over it already!

Only video I care about in regards to talent evaluator is game film. Not here to judge moral fiber.

If so, any thoughts on the draft so far? Surprises? Thoughts?

I think @HouSportsWriter has done by far the best job in nailing an OLB, QB, and TE for the Browns. If they have a draft like this it will easily be the best they've had in a long time and sets them up for success.

So many DB's going in the rds 1-2 surprised me.

I don't think it should have an end all be all impact on his career, I'm very much a proponent of second chances. But it'd only be responsible due dilligance to take it into consideration. The kid did have another minor incident last year. And I don't want to condemn him, but I don't think the team that takes a chance on him is entirely out of the woods in terms of whether or not he conducts himself in a way that finds him sidelined at some point.

NORMAN, Okla. - The Cleveland County District's Office has confirmed that Joe Mixon has pleaded guilty to assault charges.

Officials say Mixon entered an Alford plea to the assault charges.
The Alford plea is a guilty plea in criminal court, but Mixon is not admitting guilt to the offense.
However, the defendant admits the prosecution has evidence that will likely lead to a conviction.

The D.A.'s office says OU freshman football player Joe Mixon will receive a one year deferred sentence in the plea deal.

That means Mixon will not serve any time in jail.

It also won't go on his record. He will have to serve 100 hours of community service and go to cognitive behavior counseling.
Mixon will have to pay about $1,200 in fines and he is suspended for the rest of the football season.

The stand-out running back was suspended for the football season after he allegedly punched a female student in the face.

Joe Mixon was charged with a misdemeanor after the punch left broken bones in 20-year-old Amelia Monitor’s face.

Molitor told officers the argument started outside of Pickleman’s Deli and stemmed from a homosexual slur Mixon directed towards her friend.

What I don't like is that A. That there wasn't a complaint filed against her. B. The article and most of the coverage don't mention the fact that she initiated the physical confrontation.

If she was a man, there most likely wouldn't be an arrest.

I'm not saying he was justified, he was guilty of using excessive force to defend himself. He reacted poorly, however, its not as if he initiated the altercation because he was slapped in the face. The whole chain of events occurred in a few seconds, like I said he reacted to getting slapped in the face, poorly, but this is a total different situation from someone having ample time to mull things over and then hit someone, and this is entirely different than domestic violence when someone hits a significant other. Basically I'm saying that the reports insinuate this is a domestic situation and don't mention how the women hit him first. The victim's actions directly contributed to the escalation of events, and I think it is unfair to not report this.

Nothing to do until Oakland picks, wouldn't want to lead Oakland to their pick. Still having Watson doubts, also I think Mahomes as the first QB off the board was improbable months ago, now seems to be a real possibility

@HouSportsWriter only made the initial pick. But, the Browns have done well. As they should, with 2 #1's and 2 #2's, including picking first in each round. Hard to mess that up.

I'm disappointed in how the draft has gone. How difficult is it to pm someone your picks in case you can't make it? Are there that many people out there without smart phones that have email? Can't put Tapatalk on your phone? I think the format has to change next year.

Blah, blah. The guy didn't have to follow her back inside looking for shiite. That was a punk move and he's lucky to get a 2ND chance. Hope he uses it wisely.

There may be 6 different QBs that sit atop various NFL draft boards. It shouldn't be surprising that there are various opinions from mock drafters. Whom I think is right for Houston might not coincide with whom I think might be right for San Francisco.

There is a summary of who has been selected here. Anyone can link this, or copy and paste it into this thread. There are only 2 moderators interested in editing this thread, and sometimes they are simultaneously busy. Have patience.
 
Didn't mean to throw this thing off the track bringing up Mixon. If I am a GM I do not worry about Lewis at all. I don't care about video as muck as evidence. Lewis's girlfriend didn't have a single mark. When there is any evidence of abuse (witnesses, marks, or video) the hammer should come down and come down really hard, but don't swing the hammer with no evidence. This reminds me of the Zeke charges, nothing to see here. Had he broke bones in her face, even if she hit him first, then no I don't want to draft him. If Lewis is available in the 2nd, I really hope the Texans are willing to pull the trigger.

I'm kinda thinking that we get 16 dedicated people to take 2 teams each.

He made a mistake, but there's no denying she provoked him. Put herself in a mans shoes and bore the brunt of her actions. I too think he's lucky to get a 2nd chance and hope he makes the most of it.

Luckily for Mixon this unfortunate incident didn't appear to have affected his draft stock much.

Teams that like Mixon as a player will due their due diligence in determining his character. Then they have to make a judgement call on selling the pick to their fans. 32 teams will come up with various opinions. Based on football only, I think Mixon went about where he should have in this draft.

I think based on football he would have gone in a similar spot as Cook and McCaffrey.

There's not enough structure. I like helping out trying to keep things moving because I enjoy doing this every year. I don't have enough time to be on all the time. If I were running it I would say if you miss a single pick you're out. If you don't like that then don't sign up. Nobody is making you.

If you aren't going to have enough time to do all seven rounds don't sign up. If there is even a slight chance that you may not be around for your pick you send a list to somebody. That's not that difficult.

Friday the internet was down at the office and I almost missed my pick. Had to send it by phone. I hate doing things like this over the phone, but did because it's important to me.
