I did. I just think that it is just as possible that he is not recovered fully from the concussion and/or it could have been worse than thought as I said.
They got it right with Sting, which seemed super high risk, but just missed on Josh Simmons & KC got steal of the draft. So Nick could investigate what Texans medical team overlooked but probably just chalk it up to odds and move on. Washington is very happy with Conerly Jr. & Tunsil looks healthy, retooling OL in one off-season!Nick listens to the doctors/ scouts/coaches and drafts accordingly.
Hopefully Simmons patellar holds up to the rigors of an NFL season for a yr or many yrs to come. He was the 2nd pick of the 3rd rd. Caserio picked Mills over Meinertz. although I disagreed with the pick I understood the pick. Caserio/Pep/McDaniels redeemed themselves by trading up for Nico.We could get a 3rd for him, but I'd just as soon keep him on the team if possible. Reliable and fairly decent backup QBs are a must in the NFL. I doubt anyone would give up a 2nd for him, which is what he came to us as. It'll be interesting when his contract year comes up. Which should be soon. Anyone know anything about that?

Tell me this, would you rather Caserio drafted like he did
Higgins, Ersery, Noel, Marks, Smith
or
Simmons/Ersery/whatever RB you like/ Horton
IIf given a choice give meConerly JR. / TreVeon Henderson.

He had 11 snaps Saturday.Has Simmons played a down yet?
I only watched part of the 3rd and 4th quarters. Nothing stood out to me but I wasn’t looking for anyone in particular. Who should I be watching for?
Oh, I did see Metchie drop a pass. Is he going to make the
The numbers game is stacked against Metchie. The Texans brought in 5 WRs (Kirk, Higgins, Noel, Watson, Berrios). Metchie doesn't offer value on special teams. He doesn't really have a path to a roster spot. 40 career receptions combined with his medical history doesn't indicate trade value. Probably best for Metchie to be released and try to catch on with another team.Oh, I did see Metchie drop a pass. Is he going to make the squad?

Didn’t he take Kyonte Hamilton’s roster spot after injury? Foley sucks up that spot at any rate. The Texans did not go unscathed in their 1st preseason game. DT Marlon Davidson was placed on IR today due to a biceps tendon tear he suffered in the second half against the Vikings while still remaining in the game

Played 11 snaps in pre-season opener with Mahomes and was excellent.Has Simmons played a down yet?

Healthy Simmons is your prototypical LT. Very smooth, athletic and few weaknesses, KC got super lucky. Conerly is turning into a very good blocking, gets to 2nd level RT. Still issue with his core strength but excellent technician. Ersery is raw, but that frame and attitude will carry him until gets his feet under him. Actually turned out to be one hell of a tackle class.Played 11 snaps in pre-season opener with Mahomes and was excellent.
Metchie may not have to be kicked to the curb for nothing.
We have a couple of pre-season games to accesses whether or not Metchie is worth keeping.
Collins always had more god given ability than Metchie will ever have. I would keep Berrios over Metchie. Metchie doesn't have much more upside than being an avg WR. I'm saying this as a guy that liked the Metchie pick and was totally behind him getting well from cancer/giving him time to work his way back. If I'm Caserio/Ryans, I'm looking for a WR to develop that can provide ST's value while developing. Or a world class athlete like Thornton in this last draft out of the last WR spot on the team.We have a couple of pre-season games to accesses whether or not Metchie is worth keeping. I remember Nico's early days, he never looked like a viable option at receiver. Strong camps followed by lack of production seasons. And then one day he blossomed. I see things in Metchie's game this season (albeit it pre-season and training camp) that show he may be on the rise, but I'd give the man one more season to let things play out.
Instead of chips can I have a warm Falstaff or Pearl beerMetchie is already gone. We're just trying to get a draft pick or a bag of chips for him.
What are the rules for practice squad eligibility? If released and he clears waivers, could he be signed to the PS?Metchie is already gone. We're just trying to get a draft pick or a bag of chips for him.

What Are the NFL Practice Squad Rules?
A look at all the rules governing NFL practice squads.www.si.com
So Metchie can be assigned to the practice squad (or choose to be on another teams practice squad). He would count for one of the six practice squad spots allowed for players in their 3rd or more league year. The NFL expanded practice squads from 10 to 16 during the COVID-impacted 2020 season. After that campaign, the league decided to make the expanded practice squads permanent. They have been expanded again in 2024, but only by one player and with a special rule attached.
Teams can now sign 17 players to their practice squads if one of those players is a member of the NFL's International Pathway Program. Of the other 16, 10 must be rookies or second-year players, while there are no restrictions on the other six.
Idkn so I looked it up and now remember but learned more about David Quessenberry and family posted 2012. Very interesting thanks for the shareSay that reminds me, David Quessenberry was drafted by the Texans 12 years ago.
He's made a nice career for himself.
Pork, whatever is your criteria? Home cooking, High Grade Cush? Revisionist? Simmons considered elite, best tackle in class, injury only concern (sounds like Sting) sucks that KC is once again beneficiary. Conerly Jr. was late riser, but not near as late as Ersery. Ersery is a mountain of a man, but his arm length, hand size are less than either. Do like his mental make-up, maybe more, so sell me on that, make some sense.I wanted nothing to do woth Simmons and Conerly. I liked Ersery better than both. I am on the record that Conerly is a 3rd rounder. He may pan out, but too much Tunsil in that cat to take the rosk imho. We need some junkyard dogs, not lazy puddy cats stoned on catnip.
Has Noel even returned a punt this TC.I do not understand why anybody would want to keep Braxton Berrios over Metchie. Metchie avg ~11 yards per catch in 2024 , has been on the roster three and active on the team for 2 years including with Stroud, plus just turned 25 years old.
Health is the issue but we can say that about many on this roster. Berrios as punt returner is what I keep hearing. I prefer Jalin Noel .. averaged 11.3 in college as a punt returner and did pretty good as a kick returner also.
Heck, I prefer Pierce PR over keeping Berrios .
Cap savings on both of these guys is about the same at approximately $1.5 million if cut or traded. The only exception to this would be if we could get a fifth round pick for Metchie and I doubt that.
I would think that your first sentence negates your second sentence. I think Ryan knows what he has in Noel and wants to find out what he has in Berrios. We need every available spot and I do not see keeping a wide receiver who is less than. Metchie and as a punt returner less than a rookie in Noel. Of course, nothing would surprise me.Has Noel even returned a punt this TC.
It's obvious Berrios is the best PR and maybe KR on the team. He's also a great option as a WR 5-6
After seeing Metchie struggle to separate over the last 2 yrs when the team needed him the most in the playoffs I cant believe you would choose to keep Metchie over Berrios who can contribute in a major way and is just about as good of a WR Metchie if not as good or better at separating.

Well Texans have invested a lot in Metchie be sad to waste that, just look at Hutchinson now. Prospects have their own time table then there are injuries, sickness and regime changes. Metchie could still be high ceiling slot. But if they do move on, now Id want early 4th.I do not understand why anybody would want to keep Braxton Berrios over Metchie. Starting to think that Hutchinson and Noel are going to take the snaps that were ear-marked for Brevin, and that will lead to the Texans carrying 1 more WR and 1 less TE, and both Metchie and Berrios make the teamI guess the Panthers Pre Season game will shed some more light on this subject.
If it is Berrios -vs- Metchie for 1 of the WR spots, Berrios won the first round with a stellar performance.
Metchie had a couple of nice catches against Stingley at practice, but I’m not to certain that elevates him.
I think Metchie could return as much as a RD6 pick if he has another decent outing, but Caserio would have to strike while the iron is hot. I think the WR depleted Saints could still be a great target. It could be interesting to check with the Panthers about reuniting Metchie with Young, in the hopes of giving Young a receiver he’s pretty familiar with. Again, a RD6 pick is about as good as you could expect.
I want a fourth also but would grab a fifth. No pun intended. This is John's actual third season on the field and hopefully he will take a huge step up similar to Nico. I suggest he hurries up.Well Texans have invested a lot in Metchie be sad to waste that, just look at Hutchinson now.
