Texans Training Camp 2015

I'm not at all interested in Pierre Thomas. I understand wanting veteran experience & everything, but eh...

17 observations from day four of #TexansCamp
John Harris|Texans Analyst

Day four was a short practice so the team can get out to the airport to catch a flight to Richmond but it wasn’t without excitement, for lack of a better word.

What happened? Well, glad you asked.

1. The absence of Arian Foster was noted and acknowledged and it was the thought on most everyone’s mind throughout the workout. But, Bill O’Brien addressed it after practice, said that he injured his groin and that he’d miss some time. It’s a tough gut punch to take but the team on the field seemingly went about its business as it always does. Teams/staffs can’t dwell and there’s plenty of work to get done. O’Brien knows this better than anyone. His first year as a full-time assistant with the New England Patriots in the very first game of the 2008 season, they lost Tom Brady for the season. That team won 11 games. I’d trust no one else to handle a curve ball like this more than Bill O’Brien.

2. Ryan Mallett took snaps with the ones today and had some tremendous moments. He started the day hot completing all but one throw in a 1-on-1/group drill. He dropped a beautiful corner route on Anthony Denham for a TD. He then lasered one across the middle for a big gain. Then, he completed the drill with a dime to Jace Davis who had a miniscule step on the defensive back for another touchdown.

3. Mallett had a couple of rough spots, including a few down on the goal line, but there weren’t many. After missing a wide open Jay Prosch during that goal line drill, the very next play Mallett threaded the needle on a frozen rope to EZ Nwachukwu for a touchdown. EZ’s No. 17 was the only blue jersey in the area with about four white ones present and Mallett stuck right in his gut.

4. One of the things I heard and/or read this off-season was that Pro Football Focus rated Kareem Jackson as a below average inside/slot corner. First off, I can’t even begin to get into that whole thing about PFF so I won’t (just know, I truly appreciate what they do, but it’s off and misguided on certain situations). As such, please know that it’s not gospel, for many reasons. Either way, I was impressed with his interior coverage today, including two or three pass break ups when he was matched up with WR Alan Bonner.

5. When we all talked about how the tight ends have to produce much more in this offense, Garrett Graham must have heard every word. He has been incredibly difficult to cover throughout training camp and I can’t remember a 1-on-1 situation where he hasn’t gotten open and made the catch. Steady, solid and a reliable passing game tool for these quarterbacks to utilize.

6. Brian Hoyer made some much better throws the second half of practice. I wrote in my notes early in practice “7’s out of synch with these receivers.” But, during team, in particular, a move the chains team drill, he ran the offense like it’s supposed to be run. He had it flying up the field, even to a point where he was back up at the line of scrimmage ready to run a play after a catch took a guy out of bounds. It was a bit chaotic until Coach O’Brien stepped in with some words of, uh, encouragement? Aggressive counseling? to get the defense back in line, so to speak.

7. One of Hoyer’s best throws was a complete look off throw on a shallow cross to Kenny Hilliard. The rookie from LSU has displayed reliable hands throughout the start of training camp but Hoyer’s ability to go through his progressions quickly and find a wide open Hilliard was impressive.

8. Along those lines, both quarterbacks have really impressed me with the way they get through their progressions quickly. Quickly being the key word, of course.

9. I’ll say one other thing about this offense. I watched every single practice and every single play in training camp last year. I can’t remember one time, not one singular time when I’d say the 2014 version of this offense was ahead in any way, shape or form of this 2015 unit. It’s night and day different and I’m not the only one that’s noticed how stark the difference is between the two units, only one year apart.

10. I only got to see two reps of pass rush one-on-ones. As I walked down to the North end of the field, Kourtnei Brown completely bull rushed an offensive tackle, which elicited some hoots and hollers from the defensive guys. Brown, later, in a team drill got loose on a pass rush as well to force an incompletion. Marc Vandermeer would call him a “subterranean under the radar” guy.

11. Linebacker Justin Tuggle was injured throughout minicamp and OTAs and that put him behind the other inside linebackers to start training camp. But, during a run drill today, he completely blew up an OL wrapping around to make a block. Tuggle was shot out of a cannon and knocked the OL backwards, right into the running back. He needs more of that over the next few weeks as he’s in a staunch competition at that inside linebacker spot.

12. During that 'Move the Chains' drill, rookie Kevin Johnson showed why he was a first round selection. He read a slant perfectly, broke on the throw and nearly came up with the interception. He’ll get those picks eventually, but his transition ability to get to receivers, breaking on the ball, is outstanding. Improvement day after day is what you want to see and he’s doing that for sure.

13. Oh man, there was one collision today that I can still see in my mind. Wow. Brandon Brooks and Brian Cushing took each other on and WHOHOOO, that was a collision. Brooks wrapped from one side to the other as Cushing saw the open hole in front of him. Cushing sprinted forward into the void at the same time Brooks arrived and...POW! I’m sure Mike Vrabel and Mike Devlin will show that play to their rookies and tell them “that’s what an NFL collision looks like.”

14. Cornerback Charles James had another pass break up today. He seems to have one per day and, I’ll be honest, I wasn’t even watching him much today and he still came up with one.

15. I’m convinced Nate Washington could get open against his shadow. When Bill O’Brien said he’d be the No. 2 WR if the season started today, many raised an eyebrow, shocked a bit at the declaration. But, if you took the numbers off the receivers, didn’t know one from the other and watched every single play, you’d also come away thinking he should be the No. 2 receiver.

16. Now, most people will wonder aloud what about Cecil Shorts III? Wasn’t he brought here to be the number two wide out? Don’t worry, he’s had a strong camp and today was his best day, in my opinion. He was Mallett’s go-to guy on shallow to intermediate routes, especially early in practice, and he can make something after the catch as well.

17. One guy that most people don’t even know is on this roster is defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick. The former Alabama star has been around the block in the NFL and I’m not sure that there’s been a second or third level offensive lineman that has blocked him effectively. He’s strong as an ox and I’d imagine that if he can have a good week in Richmond and a solid outing against San Francisco, it might be time to see more meaningful reps as training camp continues.
Got to get on the plane for Richmond, so tomorrow’s observations will be from the state for lovers. Trust me, I was shocked too when I lived there for a couple of summers eons ago and that was the motto - Virginia is for Lovers. Either way, looking forward to some good work versus the Redskins. See ya’ tomorrow, everyone.

Item #9 is universal across everyone who knows football that I've talked to. Not so much with the radio guys looking for rants/hot takes.

I think it is more than some of you guys want to admit and stating facts is neither a half full nor half empty; in fact in this heat, if there was a glass with anything in it, I'd drink it. AJ is gone so recognize what he did for us and move on. Same with Foster; but do not ignore that he was a tremendous option and next man up counts but only if you have a skilled man stepping into the starter's role. I agree that there are 'whiffles' that look at loss of players and start moaning at the sky curling into a fetal position. Then there are the kite flyers who think they can soar at any slight breeze. Lastly, there are those of us who can see lack of skills, poor conditioning, or bad choices/decisions by management without giving up on team. I consider myself optimistic yet a realist. Based on known info, we do not have anyone on roster that is in same class as Arian. Pierre Thomas could be successful but I ain't turning cart wheels..yet.

Let's not forget that for every successful invention there are many more failures. No crying just factual. Marshall please tell me why you think we have three pretty good QBs when we have had so little from them? All three have sketchy history at best to evaluate and we are in first week of TC. I am hopeful but we are still in the "what the heck do we have at this position" stage.
I think all of our QBs came in ready to be the man at QB and all have stepped up. If only one had done this, everyone would be happier because they presume they can only be evenly bad, not evenly good. I think we have the luxury of having good next men up this season. But the proof will be revealed on the field, not in speculation, either good or bad.

Foster will be missed! But EVERY TEAM has to overcome adversity and not losing him for the season IS good news.

SOTT--Houston Texans: Day 4 Training Camp Recap

The news of the day was the status of Arian Foster and after the news came out he will be undergoing surgery for his groin this Friday, the spotlight fell directly on the depth chart. The Texans will not be able to place Foster on the injured reserve until September 6th, so the team will have to work with 89 players until the first cut down date.

With that said Alfred Blue took the bulk of the work and continued to be consistent running and catching the football. One running back that has really taken the most of his opportunities since Monday is rookie Kenny Hilliard. Hilliard is a strong runner and is not afraid of contact but he showed some decent footwork in the hole to avoid tackles. At the end of one run he even made a nice spin move to avoid a defender to eat up some more yards. The absence of Foster has really paid off for Hilliard the past two practices and it is getting him a fair look at the moment.

There is some concern for Jay Prosch and how why his camp has started off slow. He has been inconsistent catching the football and not dominating at the point of attack when lead blocking. The Texans need Prosch more than ever to be a better blocker with the loss of Foster. It just has not come together early for Prosch at the start of camp and it will be something to monitor early.

Andre Hal continues to make an impression and he came up with an interception during team drills of Ryan Mallett on a ball sailed over a crossing tight end. Hal continues to get looks at safety and make a positive strides. The real test will come when there is different offense testing him at his new position of safety.

The Texans will depend on Mike Mohamed to be their coverage linebacker and he will remain being the go to guy in nickle and dime situations. He has continued to produce in coverage situations and looks sharp in one-on-one coverage drills. The same cannot be said for Brian Cushing and rookie Benardrick McKinney who struggle with players in space. The initial coverage is solid but it is the change of direction is what slows them and creates space for receivers. It is to the receivers advantage in one-on-one drills and hopefully adding full team situations will allow the linebackers to adjust better.

Speaking of Cushing, he continues to look better in the run defense. He finally has some...

If there is one thing for sure it is that Charles James is non-stop on the field in coverage and wrapping up receivers with solid plays. He will go over the top of receivers to knock the ball out and has been one of the most active trying to intercept passes. With a loaded cornerback depth chart James has his work cut out to make the team but if he continues to produce like he has to start camp, things will get interesting.

It was Ryan Mallett's day on the field and it were more positives than negatives, but there are somethings he needs to iron out. Mallett continues to struggle with his deep ball touch and he continues to throw flat footed on crossing routes making the ball sail over intended targets. With that said, Mallett when set up well in the pocket is getting used to his receivers and driving the football to receivers. Watching him at ground level, when confident in the pocket he can put it into tight spaces in a hurry. He hit Bonner in the back of the end zone during red zone work to score a touchdown and the ball was released before Bonner even came out of his route. It feels and looks like Mallett continues to get better as camp progresses and it is carrying to both huddles he is working with.

As for Brian Hoyer he is still throwing the ball steady and his best route he throws are the deep corner routes. He can turn the ball over nicely to streaking targets while there are still some issues with his accuracy with the intermediate throws. There will be a better feel for Hoyer over the next two weekends which will help separate the two quarterbacks from each other.

Nose tackle Christian Covington showed a little of what made him successful in college being an above average pass rusher at almost 300 pounds. In one specific play he bull rushed the center (not Ben Jones) and accelerated to the quarterback to make him dump the football off in a hurry. It was the first time during team sessions that Covington looked like what he was able to do in college.

The tight ends continue to be a work in progress and today was a good look for the top three options. Garrett Graham continues to be the best hands receiver of the group and he worked well out of sets in flex position. He linked up with Mallett on a few crossing routes and this was one of the better practices for him. The offense will continue to use C.J. Fiedorowicz as their primary inline option at tight end and he has been looking much improved blocking and slowly gaining confidence in catching the football. The offense will be depending on Fiedorowicz to make a big jump on the field. The sleeper of the group is Ryan Griffin and he is a mixture of Fiedorowicz and Graham. Griffin has improved in blocking and has been an above average option catching the football. Someone close to the situation let State of the Texans know that Griffin is the most improved player out of the offensive group. The biggest difference for Griffin is how much stronger he looks in blocking and not getting bumped off his routes, he is slowly becoming one to watch as camp progresses.

It was another rough day for...

This overall was a sloppy day for the Texans on the field and possibly the worst of the four days on the field. It was clear that Bill O'Brien was not pleased with his team's performance on day four of camp.

I was impressed with Mohamed's play late last season. So far, looks like the beat writers see him as our MO LB. Good for him.

The roster is stacked with two down thumpers; and I knew Mohamed was our best cover LB. What I don't know is, who is our second best cover LB?

I appreciate the content, but good Lord, is it too much to ask that SOTT proofread their posts at least once? Every other sentence threw me off.

The updates on Hilliard spurred my interest, so I rewatched his highlight videos. The dude loves contact, and can really run at 235. I wouldn't be surprised if he climbs his way up the depth chart.

Pat likes to pump that stuff out quickly, so that probably explains the spelling mistakes. He's a better follow on Twitter, since his articles tend to be a summary (extended or otherwise) of his tweet-by-tweet live reporting.

As for Hilliard, I'm interested to see if he makes the team now - especially with talk of him showing some stuff in camp in Arian's absence.

I know it's "just" highlights, but I like the way he keeps his feet under him, really good balance & he appears to have pretty good vision.

After watching those hightlights I went out and looked up both Blue and Hilliards combine numbers just for S&G. Hopefully one of our RBs seizes this opportunity.

Analysis
Strengths
Decent top-end speed and can catch the ball well out of the backfield. Finds open spaces in passing game and sets up blocks after the catch. Doesn't dance to the line and finishes off runs falling forward. Play speed is adequate but could improve if carrying less weight.
Weaknesses
Doesn't show feel to create if initial running lane is restricted. Burst is absent out of breaks or cuts. Can't shake defender on second level or in open space. Isn't very difficult to bring down for a back his size. Effort to fool defense on play fakes is substandard. Poor technique in pass protection -- lunger with ducked head.
Sources Tell Us
"He has played behind running backs over there with NFL futures, but he just isn't going to be one of them." -- SEC defensive coach
Bottom Line
Lacks elusiveness and doesn't carry enough power behind his pads to create any intrigue. Couldn't even get to 100 carries in a single season while in college and unlikely to be able to break into rotation in the pros.

http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/alfred-blue?id=2543600
Overview

2013: Played in all 13 games with two starts. Rushed for season-high 89 yards and career-high 19 carries in win over TCU to open the season. 2012: Started first three games before torn ACL ended his season. Started season with back-to-back 100-yard games (123 vs. North Texas; 101 and touchdown vs. Washington). 2011: Played in 12 games with one start. Missed Arkansas game with injury. 2010: Played 11 games with one start.

Analysis
Strengths
Terrific size and musculature. Inside-outside ability. Nice vision, instincts and patience. Has good speed for a back his size -- opens up his stride in the clear. Strong runner -- heavy on contact. Powers through arm tackles and runs with forward lean. Wields an effective stiff-arm. Looks to have good hands in limited exposure. Flashes playmaking ability. Has tread on his tires -- averaged just 52 carries per season at LSU. Has experience in a pro-style offense and on special teams. Clear upside.
Weaknesses
Average initial quickness and lateral agility. Smoother than he is explosive. Can run with more consistent intensity and pad level on a carry-by-carry basis -- does not always run angry or lower his pads. Shows some stiffness as a route runner. Weak in pass protection -- needs to improve willingness, awareness, technique and physicality. Was never the feature back at LSU (seven career starts). Suffered a torn ACL in 2012. Made controversial, homophobic remarks and maturity should be looked into.
Draft Projection
Rounds 4-5
Bottom Line
Blue looks the part and would have been the No. 1 back at most schools given his combination of size, speed, power and competitiveness. Is a second-round talent on physical ability alone, but injury and a stacked stable of LSU runners limited Blue’s opportunity to shine. Scheme-versatile runner who is a prime candidate to elevate his stock prior to the draft and be a far more productive pro than college player.

*EDIT*
Polk:
http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/chris-polk?id=2533037
Overview
Polk has been rising quickly on the boards of many NFL teams over the past year after really standing out as an impact running back and future NFL starter in his senior year. After an injury ended his freshman year two games in, Polk never sought a medical redshirt and enters this year's draft without attempting to attain a fifth year. It likely will be a logical move, considering Polk rushed for nearly 1500 yards in his last year and displayed many highly sought-after traits for a running back in the NFL.

Analysis
Strengths
Polk has ideal size to carry the load for an NFL team as a starter. He is well put together and looks to the naked eye to be more of a compact, agile athlete than he does a power back. Polk is an all-around player who doesn't necessarily excel in one specific aspect of his game but does many things at a high level and is capable of playing within a variety of schemes. He is quick off the ball and a natural runner between the tackles. He prefers to kick it outside and gain an edge on the defense to utilize his speed, but he can be productive inside and is a heavy runner who is tough to bring down. Polk is patient and has smooth footwork to be able to throttle down his speed and wait on blockers and plays to develop.
Weaknesses
Polk displayed elite ability only in his last year at Washington and was a slow developer up to that point. He is a decent blocker in pass protection but can struggle with his technique at times. He has the anchor and thigh strength to leverage under bigger rushers, but he still needs to work on squaring up defenders as a blocker instead of chipping them as they run by. Polk doesn't have elite speed in the open field to run away from defensive backs, and although he is explosive in short area movements he won't be able to accelerate past safeties who have an angle on him in pursuit downfield.

Grimes (shows up blank for me):

We're in Arlington, VA today practicing against the Washington Redskins for three days...

The fans are very chippy up there, lots of trash talking on/off the field, lots of media...

Here's an appetizer from the early reports:

John McClain ‏@McClain_on_NFL
Mallett connected on 15 in a row till Hopkins dropped one.

Mallett is on fire in passing drills with WRs going against Redskins DBs connecting on first 10 passes. All perfectly thrown.

Aaron Wilson ‏@AaronWilson_NFL
Ryan Mallett has made some impressive throws, displaying arm strength and touch to connect on some back-shoulder passes

I've been eager to see evidence that Mallett's mediocre OTA performance was due to post-rehab rust. Maybe this is it.

I was just in Alexandria, VA for work recently, and I'm not surprised at all that the Redskins fans are described as "chippy." There may be a lot of money inside the beltway, but not outside of it.

A lot more content from Redskins reporters than Texans, so here you go note the slant...

Diane Chesebrough ‏@DiChesebrough
Jamison Crowder continues to impress. Just dived for a 15 +/- pass from Cousins while 2's on 2's in 11-on-11's

Murphy's sack got the Texans Offense off the field & then Matt Jones fumbles on 1st handoff

Trent Murphy just got himself a nice sack on Hoyer

Keyshoen Jarrett in for DHall who slipped and left the field #Redskins

#Redskins defensive starters take the field finally & Duke Ihenacho gets the crowd fired up to start the series

The next try wasn't so successful #Redskins

Watt & Wilfork back in 11on 11 & although he struggled, Sherff held up long enough to spring Morris for nice gain. Twice. #Redskins
Kai Forbath just pulled s good. Instead of kicking the field goal, he threw the ball to Morgan Moses who caught in the end zone #Redskins

Despite his problems w/INTs, Cousins can read a defense quickly at times #Redskins

Matt Jones just tipped an easy pass from Cousins almost right into the hands of the Texans defender. #Redskins

Crowder displays good body control as he narrowly misses a video camera on the sidelines on a Cousins pass #Redskins

#Texans Jonathan Joesph having some fun with the fans here in Richmond #Redskins

Jamison Crowder getting a lot of looks today. Has been in a lot of packages w/ all 3 QBs #Redskins

Crowder displays good body control as he narrowly misses a video camera on the sidelines on a Cousins pass #Redskins

JJ Watt & Wilfork on field now. Watt just tipped Griffin pass & then another #redskins

There's a new twist on returns... Darrel Young just took one for a few yards #Redskins #RedskinsRVA

DeSean Jackson is back on the sidelines in a T-shirt with ice on his shoulder. #Redskins #RedskinsRVA

Jamison Crowder snatched a high pass from Cousins & stays inbounds who pretty much threw it the only place he could #talent #Redskins

Cousins just threw a nice deep pass to Rashad Ross who caught it nicely over his shoulder but fought to keep from Texans D-back
TE Logan Paulsen just caught a fielded kick off... #Redskins mixing it up vs Texans during morning practice

There's a new twist on returns... Darrel Young just took one for a few yards #Redskins #RedskinsRVA

Andrew Walker ‏@AWalkerRedskins
Cousins tried to find Evan Spencer earlier in the drive in the back of the end zone, but a pass interference call on HOU wiped that out.

Kirk Cousins finds Niles Paul, 3rd and Goal from the 3, for a TD. Nice back shoulder throw and good grab by the TE.

Colt McCoy picked off on third team, but his pass across the middle was tipped by WR Quinton Dunbar, who tried a one-handed catch.

DeAngelo Hall now being carried off the field after suffering injury during 11-on-11. Don't want to speculate, but lower body for sure.

In FG drills, Long converts 3/5, Forbath 3/4. Long makes 33, 36, 43 and misses 45 and 50. Forbath makes 38, 40 and 45 and misses 50.

J.J. Watt breaks through for the sack. Swam around Moses and was at Griffin III in no time.

Scherff just did a good job at RG keeping Watt contained on an inside move. Watt tried to swat pass but couldn't get lift.

Griffin III gets two straight passes batted down, first by Watt, in 11-on-11. On 3rd and 10 Roberts complete for 1st down.

Sadly, J.J. Watt did not participate in a 1-on-1 drill. Was hoping to see him against Morgan Moses or Trent Williams. Maybe tomorrow?

DeSean Jackson on the sideline talking with Bruce Allen. His pads are off. Probably good sign he's back.

Trent Williams absolutely mauls Whitney Mercilus in 1-on-1 blocking drill. Sheesh.

Spencer Long does a good job in 1-on-1 blocking drill vs. former Redskins NT Chris Neild, who wears 69 for the Texans.

Goldson is a Pro Bowl safety, but he still is on the Redskins' kickoff team. You need guys like that to buy in for improvement to happen.

After two 11-on-11 periods, the OL has held strong in pass pro. Moses and Paul did great job spinning Watt around on run to his side.

FLAG: Pass interference called against CB Charles James, who has to cling to Crowder's jersey for five seconds just to slow him down.

In first 11-on-11 action, RT Morgan Moses does quality job vs J.J. Watt. Watt did make a freakish play in backfield on stunt to stop a run.

Crowder with another impressive route, leading to a TD and blowing by CB Kareem Jackson in 1-on-1.

DeSean Jackson favoring his arm/shoulder after falling on a tackling dummy. Will get update ASAP.

Chadwiko Menendez ‏@ChadwikoRCC
Trent Murphy sacks Hoyer. Reasonably big contact for a scrimmage

First teams are done now...
I gotta go setup for podcast. Back soon.

Did you guys see my tweet that DHall got hurt?

#Texans O has moved the ball about 20 yards. #Redskins D has them on 3rd down now.
Duke tips the ball and Goldson picks it!
Nice!

Next snap, Hoyer to Hopkins across the middle vs Justin Rogers. 1st down

Following snap, same play. Keenan Robinson there and big hit on DH

Meanwhile Texans got the first down, Hoyer to Hopkins.

Oh hey, the #Texans O and #Redskins D are finally on this field. Let's see how we go.

3rd down, RGIII 5 step drop back, connects with Chris Thompson on what looked like a wheel route.

1st down. RGIII looks for Reed but ball a touch too high.
2nd down Morris up the middle again. About 4 yards.

Second down, Cushing bats ball at LOS. 3rd bat today.
Next snap, RGIII connects with Reed for the first down

Next snap, Morris with a great run behind Scherff. 20ish yard gain. Nice cut on a dime past Watt.

Next snap, RGIII looks for Ryan Grant short right. Miscommunication, Grant doesn't come back for the ball.

Last first team 11 on 11s for today. First snap RGIII gets sacked, Moses gave up the pressure.

Second snap Morris up the middle. 3rd and 4

The fat guy jump ball between Moses and the #Texans DT was a personal highlight of camp. Fans go nuts.

Special teams. FG unit. Morgan Moses reports in as eligible.
Kai Forbath fake! Rolls out. Passes jump ball. Moses jumps up and gets it. TD!

Colt McCoy holding the ball a little long for zero pass rush 7 on 7 drills...

In these 7 on 7s, Ryan Grant is looking fast. Much faster than he looked last year. He could get a few balls thrown his way this year.

For those asking about the D, can't see them
This field has #Redskins offense v #Texans D.
Far field where media can't go is our D v their O

Meanwhile on field, JJ Watt just got the best of Scherff for the first time today. Pure strength.

This fan behind me to Jonathan Joseph: "it ain't the Texans! Only player on the team is Watt! You playing for the Houston JJs!"

Hahaha Joseph finally snaps, comes over to jaw with these talkative fans. They have a good natured conversation

First teams again
RGIII first snap, drops back then runs past JJ Watt for the first down. Good blocks.

Jamison Crowder is looking flashy every time the ball is in his hands.
Good showing from the rookie. #Redskins

For anyone "concerned" by Scherff at RG, wisen up. Callahan is getting this OL looking good. Positions don't matter. Unit matters. Team 1st.

These fans are absolutely giving it to #Texans CB Jonathan Joseph. He is eating it up, too.
Funny stuff.

And now the #texans D is back on the field.
First snap, JJ Watt jumps offside.
Second snap he batts the pass at the LOS.

Ryan Grant is DJaxs backup. This formation has:

Grant - Williams - Lauvao - Lichtensteiger - Scherff - Moses - Reed - Roberts -Garcon

By the way, this Scherff RG/Moses RT experiment is working really well.
Dammit Callahan, you a wizard.

Alright the #Texans and #Redskins have split up again, doing separate drills for now.

DJax back on the sidelines, pads off and ice on the shoulder. He's done for today. We will get a full update from Gruden later.

Third teams in now for these 7 on 7s. I'm gonna see if I can find some DJax info, be right back.

Crowder pulls in a nice sideline catch from Cousins with fully outstretched arms. Crowd loves it. Good pass food catch.

Second unit now, Cousins at QB (interestingly).
First snap, connects deep with Rashad Ross. Nice deep ball.

Fourth snap, RGIII finds Roberts across the middle.

Third snap, RGIII finds Reed, who spins inside to shed the defender and gets about 15 yards.

7 on 7s. First snap RGIII looks for Roberts over the middle but he drops.
Second snap RGIII checks down to Matt Jones for about 4 yards.

Ha, on that kickoff the #Texans pooched the kick, it ended up in Darrel Youngs hands and he gets the best return of the day.

11 on 11s over for now. They'll be back though. Special teams doing some kickoffs again.

Theme early: good OL blocks.

Third snap, RGIII hands off to Chris Thompson for a first down gain running behind Scherff and Moses on the right. Great blocks.

Second snap, Niles Paul false start.
RGIII "huddle up! Let's go lets go!"

First team back.
RGIII first snap, finds Ryan Grant for about a 6 yard gain outside. Quick release throw.

Third snap, Matt Jones left side stretch run. No gain.

Second snap, Cousins floats a pass that connects with Crowder. Ugly but successful throw.

Matt Jones gets first carry for the second unit. Runs into a Texans wall and goes nowhere.

Third snap, RGIII finds Ryan Grant for a 15 yard gain over the middle. Great blocking on inside from Lichtensteiger and Scherff.

Second snap, Alfred Morris carries between Williams and Lauvao. Busts through for about a 10 gain. Classic Morris.

Okay it's time for 11 on 11s.
Chris Thompson and Ryan Grant in with the 1s for first snap.
Thompson gets first snap, right side stretch run

I didn't see the DeSean Jackson injury. I'll see what I can find out. Stay tuned.

Chris Thompson with a nice few runs in a row on the second unit. Gets through the Texans DL inside, then outside. Good moves.

OL vs DL cross-team drills.

JJ Watt vs Brandon Scherff.

Score 2-0 to Scherff so far at RG. Kid looks poised.

Here we go. 11 on 11s

Both teams are still running individual drills and unit work.

NFL referee unit is Walt Coleman's crew, FWIW.

WRs running some drills now. The QB throwing to them?

Jay Gruden.

Scot McCloughan prowling the sidelines...

Both teams doing a couple of walkthroughs before going against each other.

Starting offense takes the field. RGIII gets some cheers.
Moses at RT and Scherff at RG, like yesterday.

Last kickoff now. Both #Texans and #Redskins full units watching from the sideline, looking ready for action. And here we go...
3 retweets 1 favorite

Four kicks in, #Texans haven't gotten past the 20 yard line on a return.
Special Teams coach Ben Kotwica is pleased. Applauds his troops.

Its the #Redskins turn to kick now.
Adam Hayward lays a big tackle, stops the #Texans returner at the 15.
Hayward looks mean, today.

Andre Roberts gets the sixth kickoff.
Gets a workmanlike 22 yards.

Trey Williams fielding the 5th kickoff.
Moves well. Gets out to about the 25 yard line.

Rashad Ross takes the 4th kickoff. Tom Compton gets blown up blocking by one of the #Texans

26 yard return.

Third kickoff. Chris Thompson fields. Returns to the 23.

Second kickoff. Crowder fields. Stumbles on a cut on this wet field, down at the 16 yard line.

Teams aren't going full contact, but Matt Jones didint get the memo. Lays a bigggg block on that Roberts return.

Alright both teams starting special teams units are out to begin practice.
#Texans kicking, Roberts receiving. Gets out to the 21 yard line

Word is (unconfirmed) that NO #Redskins coaches or players are mic'd up for #HardKnocks.
Also, NFL refs are out here for first time.

Both teams are in full pads. Terrance Knighton is out here after missing yesterday with a cold.
Still warming up separately for now.

RGIII reunited with his Baylor long snapper Jon Weeks, who is with the #Texans.
They are with Coach Gruden at midfield talking.

Siren sounds. Action going to start imminently.
Let's see what drills the two teams start off with.
#Redskins #Texans

and a good look at Redskins facilities

John McClain ‏@McClain_on_NFL
McNair "He (Foster) seems to be vulnerable to those types of things. We believe he'll come back this season and help us."

McNair on Foster groin injury "Can't say I'm surprised. It seems like every year he's had a soft tissue injury. We keep our fingers crossed"

Mallett connected on 15 in a row till Hopkins dropped one.

Mallett is on fire in passing drills with WRs going against Redskins DBs connecting on first 10 passes. All perfectly thrown.

Aaron Wilson ‏@AaronWilson_NFL
Duane Brown on J.J. Watt: 'It's very beneficial [to go against Watt every day] because there aren't many people around this league who can do what he does.'

Duane Brown's parents, niece and nephew are here today in Richmond, Va., his hometown, watching him practice against the Redskins

Duane Brown reflected first game at tackle against Mario Williams in college after playing tight end 'I wanted to catch touchdowns at first'

Duane Brown: 'I'm not perfect at all in my craft. I can play faster and with more confidence.'

Duane Brown: 'I wasn't a Redskins fan growing up. I was a Giants fan, a Lawrence Taylor fan.'

Duane Brown: 'It's very special. It's surreal to me to be in my hometown playing professional football.'

Robert Griffin III on J.J. Watt: 'He got to me one time today. It's good for our offensive linemen, a good test for him.'

Alfred Blue: 'Against your teammates, you're like brothers. You don't want to hurt 'em. When you go against another team, they're the enemy'

Red-zone work was impromptu, per Bill O'Brien, got pretty competitive. Plastic was popping

Bill O'Brien complimentary of Jonathan Grimes, whose workload is on the uptick in tandem with Alfred Blue with injury to Arian Foster

Ryan Mallett has made some impressive throws, displaying arm strength and touch to connect on some back-shoulder passes

Bill O'Brien on Duane Brown: 'He played well last year, but he knows he can play better. He's one of our dominant performers.'

Bill O'Brien on J.J. Watt: 'He's a great player and an even better guy. He's everything you want in a player.'

Bill O'Brien: 'I'm more in favor of joint practices' [than preseason games' I think it works out really well.'

Bill O'Brien: 'Charles [James] brings a lot of energy. He really competes.'

Bill O'Brien on quarterbacks: 'Overall, their play was consistent.'

Bill O'Brien on Ryan Mallett and Brian Hoyer: 'I thought they competed. I thought both guys handled it well.'

Texans owner Bob McNair on Foster 'injuries are a part of the game he has those soft tissue injuries he'll still probably have good year'

Adam Wexler ‏@awexler
RGIII also said JJ Watt got to him once today, pretty quick, so it's good to see he's had a good offseason.

"I dont want to see JJ Watt," RGIII said w/ a laugh. "Its good for our OL to work vs the best d-lineman or one of best, I'll let you guys decide"

Deepi Sidhu ‏@DeepSlant
Brown says his mental game has improved by "leaps and bounds" since just last year, 1st under O'Brien.

Sounds like Jamison Crowder is showing well so far with Washington. Really thought he would be a perfect slot for us if we went that direction in the draft.

I see a lot of bias in the 'Skins media, but I imagine when other fans read the Texans' media stuff they see the same thing.

Yeah, DJax hit a sled early injuring shoulder giving Crowder the reps.

Yes, we know the levels of bias of our own guys... just noting I'm not familiar with Redskins group.

I have a better list for tomorrow.

"I wish I could go through and describe to you how they blocked
those balls, but I can't," Griffin said. "I don't know. They did a
good job, but our job is to make that not happen. There's no other
way to say it. It happens, but we'll get better from it."

Tania Ganguli ‏@taniaganguli
Today was Hoyer's day as first-team QB. Some variety with receivers even with that. He had a nice connection with Cecil Shorts.

Spoke to Rahim Moore about S Andre Hal today: "I’ve seen greatness in him." Says their communication was "superb" today. #Texans

First and second teams did goal-line at the end of practice. Only group to not score a TD was Washington's 1st-team O vs #Texans 1st-team D

I'm going to keep an eye on rookie RB Kenny Hilliard. #Texans see him as a 1st and 2nd down back. He got a lot of work today.

PDS ‏@PatDStat
“We’re not going to back down from anybody, we’re going to have each other’s backs so it was good to see that intensity…” Ryan Mallett

This practice session for the #Texans almost like a 5th preseason game. Big in terms of locking down the starting QB.

"One-on-one, I feel like I’m going to win that match up any time…” DeAndre Hopkins

WaPo: DeAndre Hopkins and DeAngelo Hall trade barbs in joint practice

* * *
mike freeman ‏@mikefreemanNFL
I'll never understand how some NFL teams invest in elite athletes, pay them exorbitant amounts of money, then put them on crappy fields.

Nice job with the practice field, Washington.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter
DeSean Jackson separated his shoulder, expected to miss a couple weeks, per @diannaESPN.

DeAngelo Hall injured his groin, out about a week.

And for the draftniks out there, Brandon Scherff has been moved to RG from RT.

OFFENSE:
-- Trent Williams was being Trent Williams on Thursday. In a 1-on-1 drill against Texans outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus, Williams absolutely mauled the fourth-year pro out of Illinois. But perhaps the play that got the most “Oohs” out of the crowd came from first-year offensive lineman Ty Nsekhe. Nsekhe put all of his 6-foot-8, 325-pound frame into his defender and drove him into the ground, and gave him another little jolt before the play was whistled dead.

DEFENSE:
-- One of the most notable attributes of the Texans’ offense was how big their wide receivers are. After practice, safety Duke Ihenacho acknowledged the fact it was different to go against some of their receivers, including rookie Jaelen Strong and DeAndre Hopkins, but they also weren’t as quick. There were several times in 7-on-7 drills that their receivers snagged balls right at their peak despite solid coverage from the Redskins defensive backs.
...
-- There were several times during 11-on-11 drills that Ryan Kerrigan’s array of pass-rush moves were simply too much for Derek Newton, as the Purdue product could have gotten to the quarterback on more than one occasion.

Redskins practice report, Day 8: Rookie Crowder shines

J. J. Watt and the Texans were in town today for the first of three days of joint practice. Watt did some, well, Watt-like things as will be noted in today’s Redskins practice report.

—The Texans don’t have any logos on their helmets or names on the back of their jerseys. The look is sort of reminiscent of Penn State, where Houston coach Bill O’Brien coached for a few years.

—A Houston rookie picked a bad time to muff a kickoff in the end zone. O’Brien was watching and came over and stood about five feet away from undrafted rookie Chandler Worthy. “You’ve got to field that [expletive] ball,” said O’Brien. The coach continued to stand there for a few minutes. Worthy had one of those “wanna get away” moments from the old Southwest commercials.

—The “experiment” of playing Brandon Scherff at right guard and moving Morgan Moses in at right tackle continued today. We will see if this continues in the future or if it is merely an evaluation and preparation in the event of injuries.

—Yesterday Jay Gruden said that Chris Thompson was developing in to quite a third-down back. Usually that means a player is a good receiver out of the backfield. But he was impressive running the ball today, showing great burst on a few runs. If he can keep that going he could get some carries on first and second downs, too.

— J.J. Watt is not only big, he’s fast. The Redskins tried to run to the left, away from him, but he was over there in a flash. He just tagged the runner but it could have been a highlight-type of tackle for a three-yard loss in a live situation.

Jamison Crowder was one of the offensive stars of the session. He caught several passes working against the Texans’ first-team defense and he drew a flag when a defender had to grab him on a deep pass. We should tamp down the expectations meter since it’s early in training camp but the fourth-round pick is looking like quite a find.

—Wide receiver Rashad Ross became a fan favorite last year with a few good catches in camp and during the preseason. He made another nice grab today, going deep and taking Kirk Cousins’ pass away from cornerback A.J. Bouye.

—Robert Griffin III got off to a rocky start in one set of full team work. His first pas was batted down by Watt. His second one was deflected by end Jared Crick. The offense did finish up the series with good run by Alfred Morris and a Griffin pass to Andre Roberts so it wasn’t all bad in that session.

—Terrance Knighton[Pot Roast!] was back to work today after missing yesterday’s practice with the flu.

—Bill Callahan was having some words with Moses after Griffin had to scramble on a play. I’m not sure what it was about but Moses didn’t do much of anything after Watt shifted over and rushed against Scherff. Perhaps Callahan was suggesting that Moses should have picked another assignment.

—It’s a joint practice in early August so why not a fake field goal pass from Kai Forbath to Moses about 30 yards away from the goal line. There were regular NFL officials working and the one in the end zone called it an interception. The play happened right in front of me and it looked to me like Moses wrestled the ball away before they hit the ground. Replay may have overturned the call on the field.

—They finished off practice with a goal to go drill. Starting at the 10 the Redskins’ first-team offense couldn’t get into the end zone in three snaps. A third-down draw play by Thompson came up short. The Texans ones got into the end zone against the Redskins’ defensive starters on a pass to the corner of the end zone from Brian Hoyer to DeAndre Hopkins
.

Yes, we know the levels of bias of our own guys... just noting I'm not familiar with Redskins group.

Nothing wrong on your end. And I like to hear different perspectives of the same action. But some of those tweets made JJ out to be a UDFA that got schooled.

Kind of random, but DeAngelo Hall is the most overrated DB in the league.

The last guy in the post that Playoffs made with the Skins tweets sounds absolutely clueless. Even compared to his fellow tweeters

He looks like he has some ability.

I'm going to need to see him in an nfl game though. The holes he was running through in that clip were enormous.

I say fine them all.............they're all sloppy dressers (the Plumber's butts are especially attractive)..........don't meet NFL dress code standards.........:foottap:

John Harris' 25 observations from Texans camp v. Washington
http://www.houstontexans.com/news/a...shington/a95b535b-536e-400c-937e-9c758895170a

1. Marc Vandermeer and I jumped on the air early and our radio set up was a bit off the beaten path a bit from the two practice fields. But, I had a small view of Field Two. As I was talking, setting up the scene from the facility, the wide receivers and defensive backs were doing some 1-on-1s. In the middle of one of my many diatribes, I saw this blur sprint through the small view with a Redskin defender about four yards behind him. It was rookie Chandler Worthy blazing past, making the catch and scoring a TD.

2. A few moments later,Jaelen Strong was matched up on a white jersey. Now, the Texans flipped jerseys today as the offense wore white while the defense wore blue, so Strong was going one on one with a Redskins offensive player. I eventually realized that the Redskins must be trying to convert former Florida receiver Quinton Dunbar to defensive back. Yeah, Strong whipped him on that route down the field......

I wanted to see some Texans and Redskins cheerleaders also!!!!
Their girls aren't as good as ours but they run a pretty good routine.

Well being as I live in Redskin and Raven territory, tomorrow I'm wearing my JJ Watt jersey to work AND taking the bike. Let's see who talks trash to me hahaha.

I guess if we never see you again it's cause you were on your bike, wearing Texans gear and someone accidentally swerved and hit you. Good luck..

I hope this thing about no logos on helmets doesn't carry over into the season. We have the best logo in the NFL so there's no sense in becoming other Cleveland Browns.

I think this is OB's way of telling players they have to make it out of training camp before they earn the title Houston Texan.

Or maybe that tightwad McNair is saving money on helmet stickers. :toropalm: j/k

Rain overnight, sloppy field, players in shells and QB jerseys...

Vince Wilfork dressed but not in pads, could be a rest day for the veteran. #TexansCamp

Tania Ganguli @taniaganguli
QBs weren't in red yesterday & Hoyer got knocked over. Could be unrelated, but they're in red today.

Nix, Pagan, Wilfork, Mohamed, Ballentine, Fiedorowicz and Griffin not working today. #Texans

John McClain @McClain_on_NFL
SportsCenter will be at joint practice Saturday.

Louis Nix 3 still sidelined with injury. Needs to learn you can't make the club in the tub. Important preseason for him.

2014 draft, which I think was our last with outsized input from Rick, is looking poor at the top to me. Why you saw OB's emphasis on getting guys who football is important to them, reset each position specifications and began reeducating the scouts. OB doesn't want GM responsibilities but he's forced to do some to pick up the slack.

Kearse's injury is not significant, I'm told. Paea also missed some reps late in practice. He should be fine, too. #RedskinsTalk #Redskins

#Redskins RB Matt Jones just fired up his teammates when he trucked a #Texans cornerback along the sideline. Yeah, Jones is kinda physical.

Kearse is on the sideline now. Looks like a wrap on right leg. #Redskins

#Redskins DE Frank Kearse just limped into the medical tent. Looked like left leg. #RedskinsTalk

#Texans Jadeveon Clowney is doing some conditioning. Due back in mid August. He's one big dude.

Logan Paulsen and Preston Smith working out with the rehabbing #Redskins today. Unclear what's wrong with them, but it's likely minor.

On busted play, Colt McCoy rolls out for a touchdown pass to Evan Spencer. One of those "we drew it up that way" plays.

The Texans' second-team offense gets a touchdown pass in the same drill, but LB Houston Bates would've had the sack on Brian Hoyer.

The Redskins' offense, meanwhile, responds with a touchdown pass on a beautifully-executed fade from Griffin III to Garçon.

The #Redskins first-team defense holds after 1st and Goal from the 10. Third down pass caught, pushed OOB at the 2.

Ryan Kerrigan breaks through for a third-down sack (#BowlOfGravy) on Ryan Mallett during 11-on-11.

With the second-team defense, CB Trey Wolfe has a nice reaction and almost picks off a Brian Hoyer pass. Got two hands on the fast pass.

CBs Deshazor Everett and Tajh Hasson getting reps with first-team defense with Culliver, Hall and Amerson day-to-day with injuries.

Ryan Kerrigan -- playing on the right side -- gets by Texans LT Duane Brown in 1-on-1s. https://vine.co/v/ew5prAVPe5K

S Akeem Davis had thumb surgery yesterday but is back on the field with a cast today.

Jackson Jeffcoat with three straight terrific moves in 1-on-1 drills against Texans OL. Good use of hands, feet, speed and power.

Looks like just shoulder pads and shorts for the two teams today. Preston Smith emerges without pads on.

And that's the final play of practice. A great showing from the #Redskins today. Looked the better team on both sides of the ball.

Colt McCoy 3rd down, fumbles but recovers quickly, rolls out improvising, slings a pass to Spencer in endzone. #Touchdown.

#Redskins 2s now. First snap Colt McCoy QB wrap run to the left. Gets about 4 yards before getting OOB.

Third down, #Redskins D would have had the sack but coaches let play roll, Hoyer finds Jaelen Strong in the endzone for the TD.

#Texans 2s. First two snaps are runs up the middle. 2 yards net gain. Ricky Jean Francois the stop.

#Redskins first offense now. Start st the 10.

On second snap RGIII throws a perfect back shoulder fade to Garcon. Touchdown.

Redzone drills now. #Texans start at the 10yd line.
Two snaps later 3rd and 7. Blue is pushed out about the 2 yard line.

Cousins drops back, throws but the ball is tipped on the right side, almost picked but hits dirt.

Next snap Austin Reiter appears to ***** the snap. #Texans recover. Cousins grumpy.

Next snap, Trey Williams again with a nice juke, gets through the line and picks up about 15 yards.

Cousins and the 3s now. First snap a hand off to Trey Williams. No gain.

Kyshoen Jarrett is playing 2nd string safety and 3rd string slot CB.

Alright after 3 snaps #Texans put their 3s in against #Redskins 3s. Must have wanted to see something from Mallett first.

Apologies for any typos in my tweets today. Raindrops on phone screen.

It appears the #Texans are sending their 1st team offense out against #Redskins 3rd team D.

Texans haven't been able to move ball today.

Matt Jones is as good at pass protection as advertised
He's a 6th OLman when he blocks.

McCoy looks for Jordan Reed deep, pass is just a touch under thrown and hits the ground. Would have had him if a bit more power

Colt McCoy finds Evan Spencer to move the chains 17 yards. Bill O'Brien unhappy, Sean McVay very happy.

Big hit on the end of a Matt Jones run as he lowers the helmet.

GM Scot McCloughan, standing two feet from me: "Niiiiiice".

3rd and 11 for #Texans O now, Hoyer drops back, forced into dumpoff by pressure. 4th and 5.

#Redskins 2s offense on now. Colt McCoy.

5th snap, WR 17 for #Texans had CB Tajh Hassan beat deep, but drops the catch. Would have been 6.

4th #Texans 2s O, Hoyer completed a pass to WR41, short for about 7 yards.

Hoyer at QB for #Texans. Chains haven't moved after 3 snaps.

Second units though. #Redskins D v #Texans O. Jarrett and Robinson the safeties. Compton and Hayward MLBs,

5th snap, hard count, no bites, drop back, ball towards the sideline. Incomplete. JReed wants DPI. No flag.

#Redskins D back out now

4th snap, hand off to Morris up the guts for a few, maybe 3 yards.
Following snap, play action rollout, looking for Niles Paul. Dropped.

Third snap, RGIII connects with Roberts on the crossing route. About 7 yard gain.

Second snap, screen pass to Morris. Catches it and runs for the 1st down.
He's getting more catches this year.

First snap, left stretch to Morris. No gain, behind Trent Williams.

Kerrigan through the B gap for a quick sack. #Texans O is out. Here comes #Redskins, and here comes the rain

I am beginning to think Deshazor Everett s chances of making the roster are better than people realize.

#redakins D has only allowed one completion so far. Mallett at QB for #Texans. In 5 snaps chains have moved about 12 yards total.

Actually, the corners seem to be staying on their side of the field. Everett right CB, Tahj Hasson left CB

Deshazor Everett gets the job against Hopkins. First pass thrown his way is incomplete. Combination of good coverage and low pass.

Redskins defense is coming over to this field for a change. Keep in mind here that we are missing basically all our CBs. Expect passes.

Lake and Steven smart enough to bring rain jackets today.

Not me, however. Wish me luck.

McCoy follows it up with a nice pass between three defenders to #Redskins WR Lockett, who drops the catch.

#Redskins WR Reggie Bell gets up high to grab a slightly high Colt McCoy pass. Good athleticism on the grab.

7 on 7s now for a change of pace. Griffin looks for Garcon deep, and the pass is accurate but Garcon misses it.

I like Everett. He's raw, but great size and physicals. Rooting for him.

First teams again. RGIII throws his first pick against the #Texans. Was looking for Garcon on a crossing route and 35 for #Texans jumped it

Cousins first pass complete short and low to Evan Spencer.

0 from 3 on Colt McCoy passes for the second unit. Cousins and the 3s in now

Second unit on now.
That previous RGIII deep ball to Grant was nice. Good mechanics and good throw.

5th snap, RGIII gets snap under center, pats ball once, looks deep sees Ryan Grant is open on go route, unloads, and completes for 35yds.

Next snap, Watt rushes Moses, RGIII senses pressure, steps up, unloads to Roberts. Ball pops out of Roberts hands, incomplete.

Second snap, Morris up the middle, 4 yards.
Third snap, RGIII stands tall, goes through his reads, Finds JReed across the middle for 11 yds.

11 on 11s. First snap, RGIII hard count gets #Texans DL offside.

Looks like we have some one on ones, #Redskins OL v #Texans DL.

Special teams units now practicing "coffin corner" punts. Interesting (to me) is that Tress Way punts end over end for this type.

Watching Clowney do rehab drills and exercises on the auxiliary field. When he's healthy he's going to be a hell of a player.

First unit again, RGIIIs first pass is an out route to Garcon. Lots of pressure in the pocket that play.

First unit swaps out for second unit. Colt McCoy at QB.
Silas Redd runs into the #Texans DL, 1 yard gain, maybe

4th snap and Jones gets the ball again, up the middle again, big powerful run again.

Third play, RB Matt Jones up the middle, helmet down and power run. 8 yards and first down.

Next play pocket collapses, RGIII escapes out to the left and runs OOB for about a 3 yard gain.

11 on 11s. First snap is right side counter run by Chris Thompson. Scherff pulled from RG out to the left and blocked in space well.

Matt Jones has the same ability as Alfred Morris to get 3 or 4 yards as he goes to the ground after contact.

Spencer Long at RG on the second unit, FWIW.

In OL v DL drills, Scherff just put JJ Watt on his ass. Pure power. I got a photo, will post later.
Great showing from the kid.

Jamison Crowder, during WR drills, looking smooth and quick on a damp field.

No Hall, Culliver, Breeland or Amerson today. Starting outside corners are Justin Rogers and Damon Cromartie-Smith.

#Redskins OL and QBs working some walkthrough warmups before they face the #Texans.
Scherff at RG Moses at RT again.

#Redskins WR Quinten Dunbar is wearing a red defense jersey today. A possible position switch to CB maybe on the cards.

Spoke to the NFL ref who called RGIIIs running TD vs NYG last year a TD, that was then booth overturned.
He still thinks its a TD

Both Chris Culliver and DeAngelo Hall not suited up. Chance for young DBs to show something today.
