1) They acted they only way they could. You make up your mind and just do it. Im not faulting them for making a decision, albeit an incorrect one, but they did it.
2) Wut? How do you know this?
3) Not of that truly matters TBH. They took a swing, they missed and rectified the situation

1) NO, actually you don't just make your mind w/o enough information. See the results. What could go wrong(personality mesh with head coach) , went wrong.
2) Divorcing one QB by giving assets away is fixing a problem at high cost. Waiting for another teams over aged and injured QB to be divorced is not a plan., or better not really one with a high percentage chance of working out well. They are reacting, not operating a thought out plan.
3) Yes, but the cost was and still is pretty high.
Something tells me that this is going to become a mantra around here as to why OS was cut. I'm calling bull - if Brock was converting 3rd downs, he's still here and this story fades away.
Interesting reasoning and logical....However, if the "report" is true, I can't imagine Osweiler starting vs Oakland or New England in the playoffs. That just doesn't make sense. If the altercation got that far, Brandon Weeden would have started, Osweiler wouldn't have dressed for either game.
So BOB tells on OS to RSmith and McNair that OS isn't playing nice and they both take BOB's side and trade a 2nd round pick so BOB can play w/ someone that cows down to him? I don't buy that. If it is true, RSmith and McNair are bigger dumbasses than anyone is purporting on this MB and BOB is a world class prick that has no business being a coach at any level in the NFL. I understand that BOB has an ego that leads to blow ups like this, but if it extends to cutting guys that don't roll on their backs and wag their tails when he barks at them -- we've got the wrong head coach. The Texans signed Osweiler to a deal with an out after the 2nd year. I know he was bad, but firing the OC pretty much says it wasn't all on Brock. I'd have thought the Texans would at least see out the plan they started when they signed Osweiler.
This "report" makes sense as to why they would cut their losses & change directions.

In the situation last year YES that is exactly what you do. You get what info you can obtain and come to the best conclusion you can and then act on it.
Ware is a fan of Brad KaayaFollowing this, they had a segment with Andre Ware. He had an interesting comment that the first time he saw Oz in training camp, he made the comment that Oz was not the man, after seeing him sailing the ball and missing receivers.
Would that have become apparent with one interview? What would O'Brien have asked Brick that would give him pause?1) NO, actually you don't just make your mind w/o enough information. See the results. What could go wrong(personality mesh with head coach) , went wrong.

The problem was, and is, that the Texans don't know what they're looking for in a QB. There are no Bill Walshs in the organization. They need to luck into a good QB. Like the Cowboys did in Romo and then Prescott.

That's your assumption, the truth is I never wanted Osweiler regardless of Goff/Wentz.
ChampionTexan said:Okay, you expect Tennessee to trade their pick for someone to select Wentz, (and numerous teams are in a better position than the Texans to trade up to it), and then per your characterization, Cleveland probably takes Goff.
So that happens, the Texans decided not to go after Osweiler and try to get one of the top two guys and get shut out. What happens then?
Texian said:If that particular scenario happens then the Texans decision to sign Osweiller was a good decision.
The wind blew?? No, osweiler blew!!! Did you not watch the games last year? There was absolutely no reason to think oz was going to turn it around. He's just not a fit here.I'm not upset about signing Osweiler in the first place. I thought the Texans understood he may not look like a franchise QB in his first year in this system. Then to add to the fact that we added a new RB, started the season with 2 offensive linemen who weren't supposed to start. Plus a new RG, Rookie WRs at WR2 & WR3... & when the season started, we had two TEs who hadn't done a whole lot at that point. Then we fire the OC, pretty much saying he wasn't very good.
Everything looked like we were halfway through a two year plan. But now, now it looks like the wind blew & we changed our minds about what we're going to do again.
& that's my issue with the whole thing. It looks like we don't have anyone steering the ship. & that's probably the worst thing you could say about a franchise.

Yes. Told us the Texans biggest miss on evaluating Brock was his personality. Didn't mesh with O'Brien https://twitter.com/GregRajan/status/840223448471355392 …

Last year the owner said go get a QB. They went after the best FA possible. He didn't workout. You can't blame them for trying.
Instead of wasting another year on a QB that literally proved he wasn't the guy, they moved on and are now looking for a replacement.
I just don't see why people are upset over this.
Lol, texian talking out his ass as usual. That's not what you said a year ago..
I'm going to need some more information. First you cherry pick a conversation I was having with paycheck, then you quote a hypothetical question that ChampionTexan asked about Osweiler and Wentz. Asking a hypotetical question does not equate to an endorsement of the question. You can ask me a dozen hypothetical questions and just because I answer them does not mean I endorse your question. What that means is I answered your question. That's not what you said a year ago..
Strange that you don't understand the adolescent behavior described which is being further referenced in the 'tell on' phrase. I wouldn't have him sit on his hands, I would have him not get into a blow up with one of his players which he is known to do. And if he does, I would expect him to be a man to recognize his role in the blow up and not cut a player because of it. So when Tom Brady stands up to BOB, Tom's vindicated, but when Brock does, Brock's a cancer that needs to be removed from the team. Please. This is a strange way to look at that rumor.
Tell on? If Brock, after playing as poorly as he had, proves to be uncoachable and/or entitled, then I expect the head coach to use that information the best he can. That would be to explain it to the other people in the organization that have a say in personnel.
What would you have him do, just sit on his hands?
Very strange post.
Somebody took our garbage and we add a little more cap space. I am okay with this trade. Besides who knows what other trades could be made in the future.

Brick: Hell yeah, I do.

FTR somewhere around this time last year Jason Spriggs was my choice for the Texans 1st RD pick: February 29, 2016 = http://www.texanstalk.com/threads/texians-post-combine-mock.110228/
That is not to be confused with my Pre Draft FINAL 2016 MOCK: http://www.texanstalk.com/threads/texians-post-combine-mock.110228/

And if you're the qb, the way you win the team is to show some cahones when your hot headed coach comes at you 'mildly' like he came after Brady. The argument with Brady was mild, the only reason it got attention was because it involved Tom Brady. I'm not aware on any other incidents with OB that would have him be described as someone who blows up regularly.
Brock was terrible, if he's getting into an argument with OB, especially in the locker room, during a game, and in front of other players, I side with OB everytime. Brock has no right to be complaining about anything. It would not be a surprise to have the coach take issue to an entitled player, who is consistently failing, who is doing anything except listen to coaching. Obviously, it's a rumor, but it sounds like it would have happened in the locker room, mid game, and out in front of everyone. No surprise that a coach takes a stand in such a situation to show his players that the play and behavior of the entitled QB is not to be tolerated. I expect that. That's how you keep from losing the locker room.
I don't think it was a coincidence that Kraft and Belichick found a new home for O'Brien at PSU just a few weeks after his sideline blowup with Brady. The argument with Brady was mild, the only reason it got attention was because it involved Tom Brady. “He kind of let me have it. I deserved it,” Brady said, via CSNNE.com. “It was kind of a dumb throw. I deserved it. I kind of chirped back, and he didn’t like it. I was kind of fiery at the time, too.
“We cooled off pretty quick. That’s Billy’s style. Billy’s gonna let you know if he doesn’t like something that you did. He handles it in the right way, in a way that you really respected. You know he’s fiery, you know he just wants to get the job done. We cooled off. We ended up winning the game (when) Jerod Mayo made a great interception to end that game. By the time we got to the locker room, we were good.
This thread is getting old. Too many people patting themselves on the back for what they would've done, too many people blaming Rick Smith for being the most inept GM in the history of the NFL (even though we have one of the best defenses in the NFL. I guess someone else put that together), too many people crying about giving up a 2nd round pick to fix a situation where the BEST available free agent QB from the previous year just didn't work out for us, too many people blaming the head coach & saying he should be fired (just like they said about Kubiak. And, then he goes off & wins a Super Bowl the very next year with another team) & too much whining about the possibility of the Texans once again, going after the best available QB in Romo. Sure he has serious health issues, but if he can be protected & wins us games, who cares? He'll only be here for a short duration & then all the people that know far more than a professionally paid GM & millionaire owner knows, can come back here again & tell us what you would do. Lol
How is this thread any different that all the other threads on this board?

So BOB relays the information to McNair and RSmith about the dust up and says they need to get rid of him because of it.
McNair: So Brock just came at you out of nowhere?
BOB: Yeah, I'm minding my own business and he starts throwing punches saying I'm not calling plays he likes.
McNair: Pencil Neck?
BOB: Yeah.
McNair: But you're a hot head with a history of mixing it up with your qb.
BOB: Yeah, but I had nothing to do with it. People had to restrain him and everything.
RSmith: I know he's such a great qb, but clearly we need to do something about this. How about trading a 2nd to get rid of the problem?
Or maybe, OS sucked. They got rid of him and stories like this come out to give us something to talk about on message boards?
who's being restrained? I guess Brady should have been cut because of this.
I thought my post before the Brady video was the ridiculous one. Now, you're just being ridiculous. Have fun with that.
I've only been reading a couple of threads that grabbed my attention & haven't seen as much whining in the other threads. I guess I've just been away too long & forgotten how bad it can get at times. How is this thread any different than all the other threads on this board?
Isn't Bill O'Brien supposed to be the coach?
I ******* hate this guy.
Hopefully that story isn't true because if it is (and given everything else we've seen from O'Brien's personality thus far I have no reason to believe it isn't).....good God this guy is the worst.
yeah? tell me again who is gone and who remains? This. I'm thinking the coach wants to get into a fist fight with the QB? How dumb can you be? Suggests OB is way out of his depth.
It's not, he just wants Romo here and doesn't like that other people aren't happy to see us give up atleast a 2nd round pick trying to get him.
I've only been reading a couple of threads that grabbed my attention & haven't seen as much whining in the other threads. I guess I've just been away too long & forgotten how bad it can get at times.
At some point, it became way cooler on this board to be negative for the sake of negative. Trust me, i have my own complaining moments, this board does not read like a board of team that just won a division and playoff game with a highly rated defense.
yeah? tell me again who is gone and who remains?
Only one team a year does.Yep easier to be negative and say they are right..odds in their favor..being not many win the ultimate goal
