So if the Texans moved into the top six like the Falcons did they still would not have gotten one of the top two qbs since they went 1 and 2.

He will get a serious shot after Romo gets hurt again and that's not a bad thing. About time to figure out what Savage's got.

Essentially we're losing one bad contract for another and a broke azz qb. And we're giving up a 2nd round pick to do it.

The bright side is we will finally get to see what Savage can do.

If Romo stays healthy (Doubtful) and the OL gets fixed this team can do some damage.

I believe in Savage and don't feel mgmt. has given him a fair shake.

A Ricky Williams trade would've got the deal done.

I would've traded all of last yrs draft and 1st/3rd picks this yr for Wentz.

I mean what would the Texans done without WFIV/Martin/B.Miller/Reader?

Wendell Williams could've provided what WFIV did and for the rest of the draft class the only one you would miss would be Reader and you would've had all of the Os cap $$$$ to fill in holes.

I have to admit it Tex made the right call on Wentz.
 
All of you whiners need to stfu. You all wanted the Texans to swing for the fences. They did. they whiffed. They admitted as much and moved on. I'll go on record as saying they screwed the QB pooch in 2014. JDC was the right pick at 1.1, but QB should've been a priority after that. No one could've forsen the Pats spending a 2nd on Jimmy G. BB pulled another one. He's only the goat of all time in coaching. No shame there. I hate losing the draft pick, but I'm glad the Texans moved on. I'm a Savage fan, so we will soon see if the Texans are too.

What's funny is we did this to free up space - presumably for Romo, and now the cowboys look to have changed their stance on cutting him versus trading him.

Im a whiner and i dont mind they took a shot on oz. Really havent been a lot of qb options.

Im not pissed about that.

We gave up a 2nd round pick to get rid of him rather than sitting on it for a year. And it's not as if we were in cap hell. It's not as if we're doing it to snatch up someone great we couldn't afford. Nope.

So many more options available to free up cap that dont give up draft commodities. So few draft commodities. If you dont get that i dont know what to tell you.

No. STFU. LOL :kitten: You make good points, but I'm not butt hurt over this, despite my prized draft picks. I would've preferred a post-June 1st designation, but I place more importance on draft picks than McNair's money. I'm just glad that the Texans moved on from the mistake (that I was a huge supporter of).
 
I applaud Rick for getting rid of Os albatross. I don't understand the foregone conclusion it was to sign Romo. Could be, but that would be like exchanging a dirty/shitty diaper for a dirty/wet one.

Maybe, just maybe they have something else in mind like trading for Jimmy G or other QB out of the blue. Can't evaluate this trade until all the moves have been made and in the books. Maybe they have a plan to get Smith from KC so the Chiefs can sign Romo. Just a thought, but it ain't over yet so no use crying yet.

If they do sign Romo, Rick Smith, OB and the McNairs should be run out of town on a rail imo

Still havent found the point value for trading your starting qb and a second round pick for cash.

Maybe there's a second version im not aware of?

Damn still ******* up almost a thousand years later.

We'll have probably colonized other planets by then so I imagine the competition will be more stiff.

Oh and is Smith still GM?
 
Why? Isn't signing Romo for a year or two just to TRY and see if he can stay healthy (his injuries weren't necessarily due to being injury prone) worth the potential reward?

I don't get this vehement sentiment against Romo. We can still bring in young QBs to back him up. By people's estimations, Romo won't be able to stay healthy anyway so we'll see the young guy(s?) anyway.

Isn't the potential of a Top 10 QB again worth it? I mean really now.

BTW, In the 2018 draft I would trade all of the picks plus 2019 picks for Darnold.

Didn't really like the QB class.

Webb would've been my choice.

2018 Darnold is the best since Luck.

Off of the top of my head in the 2018 draft I also like Rosen

Man just imagine if the Brown's were finally to find their franchise QB in Os wouldn't that be a turn of events.

I've got no problems with this move. I think the Texans were in a tight spot (although far from cap hell) with their cap and upcoming priority resigns over the next year or so, coupled with a desperate need to show DeAndre that he can have success here and a WR corps beyond him desperately in need of reasonable QB play if they are to develop.

The Auto-Correct let them out at the end of next year .... He had proven by the middle of this season that he sucked .... If he had been just mediocre , I assume they would have given him a 2nd season .... but damn he was beyond bad.

They are playing for all the marbles THIS YEAR.

Its obvious to me that they believe that this team is a solid quarterback away from being a real contender and are going to do all they can to fill that void , that $10m in cap space is probably the difference between getting that quarterback or not.

I don't mind them giving up that pick next year for a chance to win it all this season. That is assuming they fill that QB void , otherwise it was a waste of resources.

Not necessarily. According to the numbers values Philly's 8th overall just about trumped our whole draft by itself.

And I supported offering a third of the city for Wentz, was all in myself on the idea well leading up to the draft ... just don't know for sure, like anyone else, if it could've gotten done in any sensible way.

I'm shocked so many people are mad at this trade. The idiots in the front office finally pulled their heads out of their asses, and are trying to clean up their own ****. This actually is the best Rick move I've seen.....of course they should of never signed him to begin with. But it is what it is.

I think the point is not to celebrate the original incompetence. This is like drinking Milk of Magnesia. It tastes bad, but you have to do it. Now, on to the next bad decision!
