I haven't subscribed to the Chronicle in years.Mcaclain is no longer with the Chronicle. Jonathon Alexander does an excellent job covering the Texans. Much more writing about football, fewer features. It’s good coverage.

Would you rather have Boyle or Slovis?Developing a young QB during the season is incredibly difficult.
During the season the week is dedicated to gameplanning for the opposition. Not for learning the system or for personal development - that's more a training camp thing. I'm also not sure what their snap share is and how they use their scout team but more often than not the 3rd QB barely gets many practice snaps.
It's why I think when Mills leaves next year I think they'll likely opt for a vet backup who has experience in the system rather than going with a developmental rookie.
Would you rather have Boyle or Slovis?
I can make a case for Slovis. If Stroud was to go down I bet they would bring in a Beathard type guy to backup Mills. This is a learning year for Slovis. Did they put Slovis on the 53 or the PS?.

If injury strikes I'm sure he will add a vet.Slovis is a good fit for the PS. I’d like to see Caserio target a more seasoned QB for that insurance piece at QB3.
Developing a young QB is not the same as teaching him the system. If he's a rookie he can learn a lot. Playing under center, timing, routes, reading defenses, etc.. he'll also be in the QB room as they go over film & dissect the decisions they made & should have made.
Trouble is Sweech, if you bring in a better backup, your gonna pay. It's still a bit of a gamble plus he is gonna have to learn our system and verbiage.
If you can get one.
There are.Huh. You'd think it would be easy then and QBs would be developing behind the scenes all over the place.
Yes.It's nice to say they'll just simply learn all those things, but the simple fact is a lot of them struggle. In fact most of them do. Sometimes with even basic things like playing under center. It also becomes an issue when you're trying to develop your o-line, receivers, running backs, etc. when they're playing with a QB who doesn't really know what he's doing.
SuckersSeems like the fans in the "uncomfortable" sections of uncovered stadium should be compensated.

"NRG Park said in a news release that one of the panels will be repaired by the Texans’ home opener Sept. 15 against the Chicago Bears. And the other panel is set to be ready by a Sept. 29 home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
During the Texans’ home game against the New York Giants, fans in the uncovered area dealt with uncomfortable conditions due to the direct sunlight peeking through the uncovered portions of the roof despite the air conditioning in the facility. Some of those fans moved to other sections for relief.
The stadium, which is owned by Harris County, is expected to have the panels for the roof arrive and be installed by the fourth game of the regular season." LINK
This new system developing in the Atlantic bears watching. We may get an open air stadium. Any engineers on this board. Say a windstorm does hit the area. Do those missing panels allow some type of Venturi effect for storm winds to enter the stadium and put upward pressure on the roof panels from below and lift those panels up?Seems like the fans in the "uncomfortable" sections of uncovered stadium should be compensated.

I've been told that wind shear is more the problem for the slit opening and surrounding panels. This new system developing in the Atlantic bears watching. We may get an open air stadium. Texans Owner's Wife Clowns Browns for Agreeing to Deshaun Watson Trade in 2022 — Sports Illustrated
NFL On the day it was made—March 18, 2022—football observers and fans tripped over themselves to criticize the Cleveland Browns' trade for quarterback Deshaun Watson. Somehow, two years later, the deal looks even worse. Watson—who was suspended the first 11 games of his Browns tenure due to...apple.news
Good point. I forgot about TexS Stadium. Dallas is subject to micro bursts from their thunderstorms but two things concern me about NRG. First, the roof opening now is narrower than Texas Stadiums’ so a Venturi effect would involve a stronger acceleration of the entering winds and over a sustained period. That compressed stadium air has to go somewhere like up. Kinda like pumping air into a tire. Second, I just don’t want to see the Texans lose any home field advantage while they are fixing the roof. Edit. I guess the best option if a storm approaches is to fully retract the roof?I've been told that wind shear is more the problem for the slit opening and surrounding panels.
Historically, retractable roofs have many times become a boondoggle.
Might be, but since we have a retractable roof I doubt all the electronics in the stadium are waterproof as other open air stadiums..but not sureGood point. I forgot about TexS Stadium. Texans Star Still Drives Same Car After Earning $90 Million
Houston Texans defensive end Danielle Hunter has made millions upon millions in his wildly successful 10-year career in the NFL.www.si.com
I also love guys like Shaq who told his kids “you’re not rich, I am”.Always super respect a dude who buys a good smart car and then uses his money elsewhere.
Unless it's an NSX.......Always super respect a dude who buys a good smart car and then uses his money elsewhere.
Working them trades! So, I’m just wondering about what folks think about this next week before our first game. Is the roster set? Will there still be moves before then? It’s weird that the Texans haven’t been giving out any team news or press conferences for the past several days. I would have thought that they would have said something about our new additions, the roof, anything.
Pretty sure he's driving a GT-R not an Altima. Cost is north of 200k, and sure there are probably guys rolling around in vehicles that cost more, Hunter is enjoying his money (and more power to him).Always super respect a dude who buys a good smart car and then uses his money elsewhere.
Pretty sure based on a hunch or do you have more information?Pretty sure he's driving a GT-R not an Altima. Cost is north of 200k, and sure there are probably guys rolling around in vehicles that cost more, Hunter is enjoying his money (and more power to him).
There are videos on the web with him talking about his car. Most didn’t agree with my ad blocker but a simple Google search will lead you to them.Pretty sure based on a hunch or do you have more information?
Well the university of Google shows him owning a Nissan in 2019 but a Briggs Automotive Company Mono R supposedly only one of 50 in the world in 2023.There are videos on the web with him talking about his car. Most didn’t agree with my ad blocker but a simple Google search will lead you to them.

Well, I did a simple Google before I asked you and didn't find anything other than the articles stating he drives a standard Nissan. That's why I asked you if you had a link. There are videos on the web with him talking about his car. Most didn’t agree with my ad blocker but a simple Google search will lead you to them.

That model goes for ~$450,000.It just so happens that Hunter owns a BAC (Briggs Automotive Company) Mono R, one of 50 such cars in the world.

Chump changeThat model goes for ~$450,000.
Yeah, but if you average the $450,000 with the standard Nissan it would be a lot less? NahThat model goes for ~$450,000.
Yes! I just love an humble man who drives a half a million dollars worth of vehicles...Always super respect a dude who buys a good smart car and then uses his money elsewhere.
Like a 450$K Batmobile.Always super respect a dude who buys a good smart car and then uses his money elsewhere.
Most men I know and many women enjoy talking about cars and for that matter boats. We also like connecting with people that do what we enjoy doing. Jay Leno had a television series for years call Jay's garage iirc.I’m just wondering why does anybody care what type of car any player drives?
Have they named them yet?I’ve looked and can’t find it… goin the lazy route…. Who are the captains for this year?

They haven’t named them yet. But I’ll guess it would be CJ, Anderson, Hunter, Diggs, Ward and Al-Shaair .Sorry, I thought I read a few days ago the selections were coming in soon.
I'd prefer Nico over Diggs. They haven’t named them yet. But I’ll guess it would be CJ, Anderson, Hunter, Diggs, Ward and Al-Shaair .
