Dude stop the damn nonsense. I said we drafted our freaking franchise QB because Mills couldn’t darn cut it. If Mills would’ve showed them something, he would not be a darn back up. It was also about him being terrible, in which he was.
 
I don't really have a side in terms of trading Mills, so I'll just see what happens. On the flipside, he should be compared to other backup QBs when making that decision. I think the biggest factor in winning games without Stroud (salt over left shoulder) is the running game. If it's Keenum or Mills having a strong rush attack makes their job much easier.
 
Mills is obviously not the best backup in the world, but if Stroud is going to miss more than one to three games then it doesn't matter anyway. Mills can almost run the offense good enough. Sometimes. I doubt when his contract is up he'll be sticking around. After this season they should hire Keenum as a coach and spend a mid to late round pick on another QB anyways. We'll need someone to replace Mills when he's gone.

You told me to move on from the QB franchise debate, which NO ONE is/was having, except for you who keep bringing it up. That debate is obviously over. This is about the backup position.. has nothing to do with Stroud.

First, Mills has nothing to do with assessing Keenum's performance last year in his two starts. I don't get this "whataboutism" rebuttal tactic. In fact, I would argue that one thing Caserio and Ryans failed at last year was getting a legit backup.

Second, no one is saying Mills is anything other than a back-up QB at best, and that they would rather see him play than old man Keenum if GOD FORBID something happens to Stroud.

Some of y'all are arguing a point that no one made. But Keenum got mentioned in a negative way and he's a sacred cow in these parts...

Just like I said about Keenum back then and what I'm saying about Mills now. They were/are better than their records if you want to judge them by W/L's. The teams both of them played on sucked. But it's easier to just blame everything on the QB. You dont have to think as much.

I’ve never ever thought Mills had that talent from the few games he played in college til now.

I think Mills ceiling can be a decent spot starting backup, but I haven’t seen anything in 3 years that tells me that’s where he is. Right now I’d rate him a slightly below average backup. I just don’t see anything in his game to tell me otherwise.

I get it, you want to keep looking for the next serviceable QB so you don't have to pay a backup more bucks than you have to.
Still, you got to find that backup that can run the O and that could be a problem.
Texans tried their hand with Boyle, but he doesn't excite me at all.
Find your backup first before you get rid of the one you've got.
Even if you have to offer Mills a reasonable contract for a year or two until you know you have his replacement.
 
I saw a headline that "Texans TE out for season". I immediately thought, "Schultz is out". I click on the link and immediately see the words Jordan and Schultz. It took me a couple of seconds to see that it was TE Dalton Keene and the post was written by Jordan Schultz. This might be harsh, but I immediately breathe a sigh of relief that it wasn't Dalton Schultz.

Have the Texans ever been this close-lipped about players before? It seems like there hasn't been a peep outside of Cap and Caserio making coach/GM speak.

It's just some random computer pulling numbers out of its arse. We know Hunter and Anderson will be the first pass rushers to go over 25 sacks in a season. :)
