Amy Palcic was such a key player for the Texans organization in so many facets that most do not know. She was the one that helped smoothed over Bob McNair's "inmates" comment firestorm. She was 90% responsible for the PR and promotion of Watt's Hurricane Harvey campaign (while Watt offered mostly his name) which was originally expected to raise only a fraction of the $37 million that was ultimately collected. She also accompanied Watt New York after arranging his appearance on SNL. Those in the know feel that there is a Communications Director position in her future...........not for another team..........but for one of the professional leagues.The sports media, former and even one current NFL player (JJ Watt) is either baffled or furious over the Texans firing Amy Palcic. Apparently she is much more than just a PR rep for a lot of people in the business.

Who will pull out the sword that Jamey Rootes fell on..............will it be Cal or Easterby? My guess is they leave it in a little bit longer, until things begin to die down a whole lot more.

Random thought of the day. Since the Texans have never been able to do a good job distributing carries between RBs, I should not be surprise that they couldn't distribute playing time between so many WRs.
I thought with his versatility, Stills would have rotated between the slot and outside positions to keep Cooks, Cobb and Fuller fresh, but he's basically disappeared from the offense. He has 10 catches for 138 yards and the worst catch rate among WRs.
To his credit, I haven't seen him pouting and he always seems to be enthusiastically supporting his teammates, but at what point do we put Kenny Stills on a milk carton?

One thing we have to remember here .... Texas is a "right to work state" ..... the employer doesn't really need a reason to terminate.

As strongly vocal Watt has been for and against so many issues and personnel in the past, even in the recent past, and as much as he has to owe Amy in so many ways, he has not come out in defense of her with any significant criticism of the firing. Being vocal is very easy when you don't put anything of yourself on the line, as in publicly addressing the FO. From of all people, she deserved at least that from Watt.

He’s married now. Wouldn’t be prudent to put himself out there like that for another woman.
The reality is, if he came out and publicly blasted the organization over this, many people would speculate he’s doing it to force a trade.
Watt will likely be traded in the offseason. For the sake of the future of this team, I prefer him to have a quiet season off the field and a loud one on it. This isn’t his battle to fight.

Why didn't they just sit down with this young woman and tell her they wanted to go a "different way" when it came to her position and write a check

Yeah, I meant "public" if it goes to trial. But like most, I think this one gets settled. The Texans have nothing to gain by a trial. And we will never know the amount.
Excellent points. Regarding incompetence. As mentioned previously, Texas is a RTW state. Was it necessary to mention "cultural fit"? Why not simply say, new direction or something similar? With Jamey Rootes coming out with a book on leadership/culture and everyone wondering what is a Jack Easterby and you want to minimize negative perceptions, why allow this negative impression to potentially impact candidates for the GM and HC openings?
EDIT: It seems Jamey Rootes is doing radio interviews and mentioning "trust" as a factor without going into details. Again, this is the same group who stood around and trusted O'Brien with the GM role and the keys to NRG. Go figure.

Agree as bad as the on field product has been, I can still be a fan of a bad football team.

Really you don't think they/things have changed? I get your point that even under old Bob McNair you, and some others, thought he was a meddling, incompetent owner and you may not have been wrong.
But the last two years have been a ninja whirlwind of bad decisions - the extensions of mid-range players to overvalued contracts, the trades of any and all draft capitol for players of questionable value/performance, the weird firings (yeah the PR lady is included, but Olsen sticks out even more and for me), the absolute most concerning is turning the entire franchise into the 'Cult of Easterby' it's just downright strange.
