Texans random thought of the day

Never asked for accuracy.

Thomas is Mallet with incredible athleticism.
Have you really followed Thomas' career? Ever since he entered the NFL, Thomas has always been called out for his terrible footwork, terrible reading of the D, terrible delivery and terrible footwork. But besides that, he has incredible athleticism.

If we made him a TE then we could install the TE pass on occasions .

Just think how brutal this board would be if it was following the early 70's eary 80's Oilers

I kind of see him in the Cam Newton mould with none of the football acumen....

Or charisma

Mallett was ready to go after one play. Every coach without an agenda would have put him back in.

Gone all weekend so coming back to this late... So I completely agree with what you have here, I just can't understand what his agenda is? To look confused? Indecisive? Foolish? For a QB guru his choices so far, his coaching with what he does have, and the lack of respect (not that they have earned much) he shows to the most important position baffles me.

What is the agenda? If he wanted Hoyer all along just go with him not yank him after one bad game. Doesn't make sense very "I have a point to prove" immature.

My random Texans thought?
There's more fight in the crowd amongst our fans than on the field.

Fight breaks out during 4th quarter of Houston Texans game "10.8.15" NRG stadium. That wasn't anybody from TexansTalk was it? LOL, take out your frustrations.

I saw more effort in that dude flipping the guy three rows than I did from our defense! And I also saw more punches landing than the last two Mayweather Jr. fights combined. At least they weren't dancing.

Sign him...get a set of pads on that dude....

The post you quoted was suppose to be pure sarcasm .....

This offense looks like the QB just scribbles some lines on the dirt in the huddle and they go and run whatever route they think it was.

lol.....that's how we did it when I was a kid.....maybe there's not enough dirt on the new field so the QB can't draw a clear diagram

In past years, Watt has moved all around the defensive line, and with Clowney's presence this year, I've noted that Watt has uncharacteristically and more predictably remained on the left side, and Clowney mostly on the right where he has at best delivered sporadic impact. I'm beginning to believe that this has had a significant effect upon the somewhat lesser impact that JJ has demonstrated thus far this season..........an observation that has been unlikely gone unnoticed opponent coaches in their game plan preparations.

That doesn't matter. The Colts don't lose division games, and that's always enough for them to squeak by.

This. I don't have the time here at the tail end of the work day to run the data, but using hyperbole that is surprisingly accurate... since Luck came on board they never lose in the division and have a .500 record against the rest of the league.

Luck is 17-2 in the division with both losses his rookie year.

I still can't figure out what the agenda is..... But its obvious theirs something going on.... Any opinion on what it is????

Easy answer - Hoyer is tape room buddies with OB.

Hoyer (and Fitz before him) is the brite/bright suck up student who can parrot everything perfectly and perkily (not a word) in the classroom.

Mallett is the 'got this, you're boring me, can we go play football now' student.

OB gives Ritalin to the latter.

Mallett was, moving the ball but he had scored ZERO points and it was like 13-0 colts
Yea but Mallett isn't the one that dropped that pass in the red zone. Ball was a perfect throw. Foster just didn't catch it....that stopped drive. So Obrien benched Mallett?? What's Mallett suppose to do throw & catch his own passes??

Why would OB give Mallett the starting gig after just one game and how does this whole deal benefit him? You guys that think this are ridiculous and grasping for straws. I'm by no means defending the QBs or OB, but this is absurd. I've heard some ridiculous conspiracy theories before and this one is right up there. Now I know there is no point in "discussing" anything objective about Mallett's play with you guys. I'm now convinced you are all relatives of his.

Again, Mallett had three more drives after this with only 1 total first down and don't forget the 8 drives in the Atlanta game which netted zero points.

Infantrycak, this is actually the best theory I've heard....seriously bro...this makes sense....because it never has really felt like a "QB competition"....I always suspected it was some behind the scenes personal bs...

Come on man, that's a stupid theory. What NFL head coach is going to jeopardize his own career by preempting a QB controversy. How is he benefiting from this?

Why would OB pull his starter 3 quarters in the first game and name Mallett starter the second game?

Honest question because this kind of stuff I've never seen in any of my years watching the NFL.

OB is an idiot. Keep applying 'normal' rules if you like.

Exactly. I never wanted Hoyer to start and thought OB gave him the shaft on that. Rational decision making went out the door at that point (arguably before).

Oh I don't know, maybe because Mallett sucks. He put up zero points. Hoyer had at least generated points vs. the Chiefs. And it was the right call when Mallett came in during that game.

I mean, why would he pull Hoyer if he is clearly the better player?

I'm not pulling for either anymore, but this kind of decision making from OB is the reason I want him gone.

Let's see, he doesn't even name a starter until the 3rd pre-season game, benches that starter in game ONE, benches the new starter twice, once in the 2nd quarter because he got drilled and lost his breath, and goes back to the original starter, all before week 6.

I don't give a damn what anybody thinks about Hoyer or Mallett, I'm more concerned that OB doesn't have a clue what the hell he's doing.

This makes more sense to me than some ridiculous conspiracy theory. Hoyer got pulled in game one because it was a blowout game. Why not give the young backup some reps? Then Mallett looked impressive enough to give him a shot the following weeks. He played the entire game at Carolina and TB. He was marginally effective at best, but he by no means took control of the position. Then in Atlanta it was 35-0 in the 3rd, he hadn't generated any decent drives the entire game, but he still remained the starter for the next game. Then after 4 drives with no offense he game out with injury and Hoyer started moving the ball. It was unfortunate coincidence for Mallett, but Hoyer responded with 3 points, then kept them in the game with the Hail Mary. Circumstances, not conspiracy.

I'll post a real random Texans thought. The Astros and Rockets take care of business. The Texans make money.

Please. Astros had the 2nd lowest team payroll starting this season. Before that, they were the lowest in 2013 & 2014. They were one of the worst teams in baseball for the last 6 seasons. Before we claim the Astros as a model franchise, let's see how they act now they are legit contenders. Let's see if they're willing to invest in acquiring more talent.

Jeopardize his own career? Yep....that's what arrogant narsasistic egotistical coaches do. If u think that every coach in NFL is the perfect, fair, trustworthy, selfless, stand up guy.....then your nieve (nothing personal)...how many yrs of organized football have u played? ( litter league? Middle School? High School?)....if u haven't played any of these you wouldn't understand.....but if u have played are u telling me there was no bs drama involving coaches & players on ANY of your teams.....

No conspiracy purported here. But O'Brien said that he took Mallet out because he suffered an ankle injury. No one examined his ankle on the sideline at any time. Kindly show me any evidence of this ankle injury. Funny that this week he is not only not on the injury list for an "ankle," but is no longer on the injury report for a "chest" (pec) either. Quite curious.

Buh bye.

Yeah a coach pulled the 4 game starter to get the young (3 year older) 18 game starter some reps.

End discussion.

This is where I'm at. Aaron Rodgers could fall into OB's lap & he wouldn't know what to do with him. For all we know, he probably already did (depending on how Bridgewater turns out) & he already screwed it up.

If we were playing college defenses (read Indianapolis Colts) he could probably make Hoyer look decent. But against NFL defenses... Titans are looking better every week. Cincy is good. Jets are going to tear us a new one & the Bills are going to... I'm running out of euphemisms..... just be prepared to walk out on a lot of football games this year.
