Texans random thought of the day

The Texans have run the most offensive plays of all NFL teams after the first three games, 241. They are ranked 13th in avg yards per game, but somehow are only 23rd in avg points per game with 18.7. That is a bad recipe for trying to win games, especially against teams like Atlanta.

Atlanta can't stop the run. We should run it down their throats.
We'll be in control from start to finish. Texans should win this game.
If Arian Foster and Duane Brown both play, I like our chances even better.

You might be the only cat in the Country who believes this

I have the Texans straight up with 2.5:1 odds.
Easy money and good odds! Atlanta is overrated.

For the gamblers out there, the line started at 3.5 and is now 6.5. Lots of band wagoners on the Falcons. Take the points. A lot of professional gamblers (I listen to a lot of it on Sirius) are thinkin Texans win this outright. The Falcons may be paper tigers. The Giants gifted the win to them, the Cowboys were pounding them and then folded like cheap lawn chairs. I think the Falcons are a bit over rated at this point. Let's see it sustain for a while. I'm taking the points.

J.J. Watt is going to destroy the Falcons offensive line even they use two guys to try and slow him down. This should be our best pass rushing performance on the young season. I'll be shocked if Watt doesn't have at least two or three sacks.

The Falcons offensive line is still learning and going through some struggles right now. Let's take advantage of that because we don't want Matt Ryan to have a lot of time to step up in the pocket.

Watt, Clowney. even big daddy Wilfork, all have to be licking their chops.
Even Jared Crick will probably notch a sack in this game. Plenty to go around.

Of course I was reading a Falcons beat writer's article saying how the Falcons plan to come out running the ball a lot. They don't want to put Matt Ryan in a position where the Texans pass rush is teeing off on him early and often. They want to throw deep to Julio Jones but plan to mix in some play-action passes. We'll see.

If we can stop the Falcons running attack we should be in good shape.

The Falcons may be undefeated right now but they trailed in the fourth quarter in all three games. If the Texans just play hard for all four quarters we can go in there and pick up a satisfying road win.

"PREPARATION"............now THAT would be a novel concept!:toropalm:

Yeah... when RAC says "preparation" I can't help but think......

Per Drew Dougherty:

The Colts are the worst in the NFL at turnover differential. The Texans are the second-worst. Those two stand at minus-9 and minus-6, respectively. Indianapolis has coughed up the ball 12 times through the first quarter of the season, while the Texans have committed eight turnovers.

PFT ranks Texans OL #16:
https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/10/07/ranking-all-32-nfl-offensive-lines-entering-week-5/

16. Houston Texans (5th)
Pass blocking rank: 9th

Run blocking rank: 24th

Penalties ranks: 2nd

Stud: If his name isn’t already in the conversation, the start to 2015 proves Brandon Brooks (+5.7) needs to be regarded as one of the best guards in the game.

Dud: Switching between guard and tackle hasn’t helped, but Derek Newton (-10.9) has reverted to his 2013 level of play, rather than following up on his strong 2014 contract year.

Summary: Getting Duane Brown back will prove big, because without him and center Chris Myers, the line looked very unlike the one that finished in the top 5 last year. Still, there are plenty of question marks as they break in new talent.

I predict it's Thursday and we don't have a game day thread yet.
I predict the Texans will lose the TV ratings for tonight's game airing on CBS here in Houston. More people will be tuned in to the Houston Cougars football game on ESPN2 and the Houston Astros playoff game on FS1.

The ratings may not even be that good nationally for the Texans-Colts game tonight. But I just figured in the Houston TV market, as that's the only one that matters to me, they may come in third on the sports pecking order tonight.

We were number one in turnovers forced last season. What the heck happened to those big plays? I've seen Cushing drop a couple interceptions already. They were thrown right into his hands. A couple fumbles were on the ground but our guys couldn't dive on top of them. We're just not making those big defensive plays this year.

Mullet & Hoyer understand the offensive scheme .... Its the NE scheme accept it looks nothing like the scheme run in NE where the TE's and slot guys do a lot of damage .... and they execute screens very well to take advantage of teams who over pressure.
OB's answer to over pressure is to have the QB throw the ball at the receivers feet.

I say we give O brein 8 years to work this hole thing out lets face it Kubes is with Denver now for the forseeable future he cant come back

Obrein wil figure this thing out and he will fire Rick smith bring in his buddy GM and all will be well we are just in year 1.5 of the rebuilding process since Mcnair half assed it and decided to do it the slow way so yeah

8 years guys gotta have patience

Mullet & Hoyer understand the offensive scheme ....

.

I'm beginning to question that. Seemed like a totally different playbook when Hoyer came in. The field seemed crowded when Mallett was QB. Much more open when Hoyer came in.

Better, more complimentary routes maybe.

One of the things I harped on when the Texans were living in Salary Cap Hell, the Texans when filling out their 53 man roster with free agents, could only afford Vet and rookie minimums. The results and consequences of living in Cap Hell were evident again last night in that the Colts have a much deeper and better bench than the Texans. More cause and effect.

The post you quoted was suppose to be pure sarcasm .....

This offense looks like the QB just scribbles some lines on the dirt in the huddle and they go and run whatever route they think it was.

Pleasant was fined $8,681 by the NFL for his unnecessary roughness call in the Atlanta game...............he should be fined by the Texans for his 6 penalties thus far.:toropalm:

OB wants Hoyer and not Mallet in at QB. Thursday game shows that. Mallet was doing just fine. Just about any other coach would have put Mallet back in the next play.

Mallett was ready to go after one play. Every coach without an agenda would have put him back in.

I kept trying to figure out what the reasoning behind the decision to leave Hoyerable in .... and I cant come up with anything.

It appeared Mullet was really hurt by the hit with the helmet digging in under the ribs and he needed a moment to gather himself .... Maybe he should have just called a time out instead of gimping his way off the field - Taking himself out of the game.

Maybe OB felt like Mullet didn't want it enough if he took himself out .... I just don't know what the fvck the thought process is with this guy.

Granted its fairly obvious neither is a viable NFL quarterback .... but stop with the musical chairs at the QB spot , pick one and stick with him.

I prefer Mullet , I'm afraid Hoyerable might screw around , get hot and win one or two mucking up the draft slot .... Mullet not so much.

Looks like the Titans have lost.......and the Jags are just about to lose! This division championship, by no means is sewn up by anyone.:texflag:

The Colts are going to win the AFC South with a 9-7 record. The second place team will finish no better than 7-9 and a couple games behind. I could see the Titans and Jaguars both finishing 7-9 and 6-10. We'll finish 2-14 if Hoyer is our starter. If our goal is to get the #1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft then keep starting Brian Hoyer. 4 or 5 wins if Ryan Mallett starts.

The AFC South has the least amount of wins of any division right now. The Texans are a pathetic team in a pathetic division.

With a pathetic owner. And QB. And field turf. The only thing that isn't pathetic is the head coach, and we don't call him pathetic because isn't polite to call the mentally challenged derogatory things.

The intercepted pass to Foster bounced off his hands because it was thrown much too hard, and unnecessarily so because he was wide open.

We don't have the players for the schemes offensively or defensively. That sums it up for me. The schemes need to be dumbed down to cliffs notes for any chance

That pass was not thrown much too hard. That's utter nonsense.

No doubt Arian himself would be the first to say he had no excuse to turn that into a jump ball.

But Arian hasn't said that, has he, so how do you know? The only thing nonsensical is your opinion.

Can we sign Dustin Vaughan off the Bills practice squad to be our starting QB?

Maybe Logan Thomas off the Dolphins practice squad?

Like both those guys more than our current pupu platter

I know he'd say it because he's a professional and the ball was completely catchable to anyone with any inkling of reason.
I agree: It certainly takes reasoning to catch a ball. I saw how far it had to bounce to get to that defender.

How far it bounced? It just skimmed through his hands and kept going in the same direction it began. No real bounce.

Foster caught the exact same throw on the exact same route like two plays before that one. No problem. He should have caught that one too.

My random Texans thought?
There's more fight in the crowd amongst our fans than on the field.

Fight breaks out during 4th quarter of Houston Texans game "10.8.15" NRG stadium. That wasn't anybody from TexansTalk was it? LOL, take out your frustrations.

I saw more effort in that dude flipping the guy three rows than I did from our defense! And I also saw more punches landing than the last two Mayweather Jr. fights combined. At least they weren't dancing.

And you want accuracy?????? Logan also throws bullets at the feet..............usually at his own tangled feet.
