Texans random thought of the day

AFC/NFC WEST
Broncos, Raiders, Cardinals, and 49ers at home
More than likely Bills at home
And we go to the winner of the AFCN
There should be another NFC game as well right? Like the reason we played the Cowboys though they aren't 8n the NFC North.

It's the extra game when they added the 17th game to the schedule. Besides playing the usual own division, AFC division, 2 teams from the other 2 AFC divisions, NFC division, there's now 17th game - from one of the NFC divisions that we don't play (same place team). Not sure which one it is next year.

Add that to something I don’t want for next year.

I also want to see the games 6 to 7 days apart. This 4 day rest between games is not good.

2 bye weeks and that's probably workable. So, one preseason game or just eliminate them altogether.
These poor fellas fixing to play 3 games in 10 days or something like that! That is ridiculous.

My wish list is 18 games plus two bye weeks for a 20 week season. Two preseason games. Eliminate Thursday games. Games may only be played on Sat, Sun, Mon.

I would eliminate international games…yes I know it’s not happening. At the least I’d put some guardrails around the travel. Like international games can only be played before a bye week.

All great suggestions. I don't know how the NFL can look at the quality of the Thursday games and think "Wow! This is what NFL football is ALL ABOUT!" Really a piss poor product. In addition to Porky's suggestions, why not just add a game on Monday or Saturday? Or maybe another Marquee game that would be played on Sunday after the 3pm games and maybe push back SNF a little bit to make sure the games don't overlap too much?

Note- I don't know if any of you currently live in PST or MST time zones, but when I go out that way and the Texans are on at 10am, it really sucks. This could increase their appeal to west coast fans.

I hate the mountain and pacific time zones for football!!
Central time zone is perfect imo.
NFL will never put games on Saturday throughout the year up against college.
I agree I can do without the Thursday stuff.

Saturday games later in the season is what I was getting at. After college reg season and before playoff/bowl games. They already do that. I realize it won’t happen early in the season.

As to Thursday, while money is a big issue to owners and players..l think the players union should negotiate a slow end to that in the next CBA even if it costs their players a small amount of $$$. Start the season on Thursday with a marquee matchup….and maybe a couple very late in the season if they can’t negotiate a complete end. I have no issue with week one starting on Thursday since the players didn’t play on the prior Sunday.

Thursday games should only have teams coming off a bye after the first few weeks of the season

I live in Mountain TZ and definitely prefer it to Central, having lived in both. Don’t have to stay up past 11 pm for night games to finish, and 11 am for early games is just fine. Just IMO. Eastern is way too late, and Pacific is too early.

How about putting it on Friday then? Still too short of a week IMO but anything is better than playing Sunday and turning right around for a Thursday game. Plus it sounds better … Football Friday!!!
It sounds better if you want to watch football in its purist form, go watch a high school football game on Friday nights. No spreadsheets necessary there.

The only positive I can see from this game is it shows the Texans they are a long way short of where they need to be.
They've got a lot of work to do and I can't see them overcoming the deficiences that are very evident in our Oline.

I felt like early in the season the Texans were skating on thin ice. They were getting leads against bad teams, letting those teams close the gap and, in some cases, take a lead late in the game for Fairbairn to kick a field goal in the end for the win. Now they're losing those games. The signs were there.

Texans better win in Jacksonville next Sunday, because there is a chance that might be the last win they get. The way they’ve been playing it’s highly possible they lose out.
I hope not but after yesterday’s debacle…
I was thinking the same thing today!
I don't have confidence predicting any other wins.

I see the Texans winning against the Ravens or Chiefs. Just to give us a little bit of hope before losing out and crushing us.

Cause that’s what it is like to be a Texans fan.

I actually believe that Demeco might pull the plug on Slowick after the Jags game (which would be our Bye week) if the offense were to flounder & struggle in that game like it did this past Sunday.
Yea I think Demeco is a genuinely nice guy and unlike oh say a natural-born A-hole like maybe former Texans coach BOB it would really be tough for coach DR to fire a friend under those circumstaces.
But after the Jets & Titans games in 2 of the last 3 weeks, dunno what the tailspin is all about, but A-23 is right losing out now would seem to be a distinct possibility ?

My main disappointment is they have been getting huge takeaways and still losing.
They have to address the lack of second half points issue.

The only thing I can truly know and can see is the offense isn't working. Fire Slowish and let things sort themselves out the rest of the season. Whoever we install as the new OC will either work or he won't and then we'll replace him if necessary in the offseason. Either way, if we still have Slowish as the OC next season I'll know DeMeco is ******* up.

And at that point in time, it's either DeMeco or Stroud having to go. Talk about this site being on fire, that'd do it.
