On the way home from Church. I was listening to the pregame show on 610 and they mentioned that 11% of the sacks are directly Stroud's fault. In comparison, Mahomes is responsible for 26% of the sacks he has taken and I think they said Caleb Williams leads the NFL at 28%.
I don't know the source or how it was calculated. However, the percentage reflects what we already know. The Texans OL is primarily responsible for the number of sacks. What I found interesting was Mahomes near the bottom of the league at 26%. If you think about it. Mahomes extends plays, goes off script, will hold the ball longer more frequently than Stroud. That is why he is responsible for getting sacked more than most QBs.
The percentage difference made me think of Bruce Arians and his, "
no risk it, no biscuit" philosophy. Maybe Stroud's low percentage is because he's been pressured so many times, he is not taking the sacks/risk. He is watching and feeling the blitz more than ever.
@steelbtexan had a question as to why Levis was able to handle the pressure better than Stroud. I think, it boils down to Levis is more of a gunslinger. He is overconfident in his arm strength and willing to take more risks/sacks.
Random thought. We know besides Mixon and Collins, the entire offense has regressed from last season and it might not get fixed this season. Is it now time for Stroud to "throw caution to the wind" and take more chances? Even if it leads to more sacks and even TOs?
