Texans Player Transaction DISCUSSION Thread

Someone is gonna get drilled in the next few weeks….
just like I want mean Dobler types on the OL, give me an Atwater type mean mutha in the secondary.
the way they call penalties in the nfl nowadays…
Any hard hit is a penalty.

I also dont like the fact that they dont call a penalty on the field and Runyan/Brooks go back look at film for hits then fine/suspend players as they see fit. SMH

Why? Do you like guys who put fear in receivers coming across the middle? The hit that caused his last suspension was BS. The Vikings used Dobbs as a RB and KJ hit him like he was a RB.
I am just not as clear as you are in my mind about either of the hits. I do know he only got flagged on one of the two that led to suspensions but that doesn't necessarily mean one should not have been thrown. The hardness of the hit can be canceled by the technique or timing. I am looking forward to his time on the field these next two games.

Hopefully it's more than 2 games.

We like different styles of football.

I like guys to fear going across the middle. or QB's getting hit like every other player on the field. I realize the NFL is trying to remove this from the league.

Ugh. We're desperate. I just don't want that thug on the team again. He's gonna do some stupid **** to cost us, and I don't want to be a dirty team.

Kareem, after a few years of getting burnt, turned into a fine player. Although I think his hard hits in Denver can be directly attributed to their HC installing a new BOUNTY system ala New Orleans, he is going to be solid in Houston once again. And we need all the solid we can get.

Hopefully it's more than 2 games.

I lean more towards the second than the first.

I want hard but clean hitting/tackling. No thuggery like Suh.

I'm hoping KJ will be the player he was last time he was a Texan. If his next two games [3 in my projection] go well, he will get a new deal. He is 35.

Kareem toast as I remember him

As an island CB....I always said he should've been a spokesperson for Aloe-Vera, b/c it's great for burns. As a FS (I was stating this mid first season), that's his Pro Bowl position b/c he simply sees the game better facing the action so he can use his speed and willingness for contact to be a difference maker.

Dirty? Get out of here guys. Kareem has never, ever, been a dirty player. Give me a freaking break. He plays the game as it was intended to be played. He plays to the whistle and hits hard, like tons of safeties before him from Steve Atwater to John Lynch, to Ronnie Lott. Are these guys all dirty players too? Because the NFL has effectively eliminated hard hits, he’s a bit of a fish out of water but that doesn’t make him a dirty player. He’s playing the game the right way…it’s the league that is changing quickly…rightly or wrongly. I am with Steelb and I say wrongly.

This didn't start with Kj this season. He's been getting fined for these kind of hits even when he played in Houston before. It's a guy who doesn't understand the rules & refuses to change the way he plays. He's got a target on his back because of it.

Yep. Many people want to return to the old 1960s and '70s football but that isn't happening. It's easy to sit in our living rooms and say how football players should tackle when it's not our butt on the line getting hit. We use to drive our automobiles without seat belts buckled but then the law changed and we either change with it or we suffer the consequences.

I was a huge fan of Troy Pride coming out of college. If I remember correctly, he had great stats for passes broken up although he is not much for interceptions. It will be interesting to see if his leg has healed and be ready to go.

My understanding is there were too many healthy bodies ahead of him with the Saints. He should get a good opportunity the rest of this season to show he can be a NFL player.

Bad analogy

These guys don't have to play. This is God'ells NFL, they didn't change the rules for safety, they changed the rules because they wanted more scoring. FF leagues. If they truly cared about players safety they wouldn't want to play more games and certainly wouldn't play on Thursdays.

Just know like with all things God'ell it's all about the money. They aren't getting anymore of mine.

great point. These overseas games and Thursday games are terrible for player safety, but they yell and scream plat]yer safety like it’s a mantra from the heavens. Give me a freaking break. The only reason they care about player safety is because of legal liability. Otherwise, the owners couldn’t care less. The health of the dead Presidents in their bank account is what drives that situation.Money is the tail that wags the dog.

I agree 100% with everything you say however that does not eliminate the need for safety of the players. We just can't ignore the annual increase of players injured. 2023 has been an example of that. Again I am not against hard hitting in football. I am against targeting, hitting players clearly out of bounds and after it's obvious that the play is dead.

Again, I agree however that doesn't remove the need for improved safety. It's a rough game but improvements can be made in.

The main reason injuries have increased is because the NFLPA negotiated less practice time in pads hitting.

🤣😂 I think the answer may be a little closer than that extreme.
This is where God'ells NFL is headed.

You cant tackle this way, you cant tackle that way, you cant body tackle if you hit a guy to hard. Eventually arm tackling is the only form of tackling that wont be breaking rules.

I’m stoked that Kareem of Wheat is back. As a young buck I felt he struggled in coverage. But he found his groove and excelled, especially in the slot…and they tried moving him to safety which fit his skill set to a tee. But whether it was lack of depth at corner or what I don’t remember, but he kept having to move back to corner. Once in Denver, they stuck him at safety and he excelled.

the only question is what is in the tank. He’s older than Ward by a couple of years. But have to say for the most part, he’s been pretty durable. I wouldn’t mind signing him to a one year deal for next year to fill the Ward veteran leader role. Ward is breaking down pretty early. When it’s multiple items, multiple body parts, etc…that worries me.

I don’t know if he has an interest in coaching, but if so, he and Case could transition to coaching after 24.They both have ties to Houston.

My concern is KJ still wheat or is he chaff?
