NFL Random Thought of the Day

Has Amy Skank requested permission to interview Slowick yet?
Not on the same page with the GM most likely.
The Titans GM is Ran Carthon. Carthon spent 6 seasons with the Niners as director of pro personnel and player personnel prior to joining the Titans. I'm sure he knows Slowick. I'm pretty sure Slowick would take an interview. And I'm absolutely sure Amy Adams would love to steal the Texans hot OC.

I'm also sure I'm not happy that Vrabel was canned.

Hans Schroeder, the league's executive vice president of media distribution, pointed to the number of teams still alive for the postseason going into the final two weeks along with close games throughout the 18-week regular season. Of the 272 games, 113 were decided by six or fewer points, the second-most in league history.
Over the past two seasons, 55.8% of games have been within one score (eight points).

It is inevitable that Slowick will be an HC at some point. I just hope he is smart enough to know it needs to be a good fit. You stink up your first HC gig (your fault or not), your career gets set back several years.

Any good jobs coming open this season? I would say no to Carolina, I'd have to think about the Redskins.

I think (and hope) he stays for another year or two to get more experience.

Are we getting the full story from the NFL? The NFL still refuses to give "fans in the seats attendance" numbers rather than tickets sold "attendance." As the fans are watching games in the comfort and convenience of anywhere other than the stadium, be asured that true attendance is significantly down......except maybe for the last couple of games when games may be more relevant to the playoffs.

SEATTLE -- After 14 seasons, 10 playoff appearances and the franchise's lone Super Bowl championship, Pete Carroll is out as the Seattle Seahawks' coach.

Team owner Jody Allen said in a statement Wednesday that the decision was made "after thoughtful meetings and careful consideration for the best interest of the franchise." Carroll, whose Seahawks finished 9-8 and missed out on the playoffs for the second time in three seasons, will remain with the team in an unspecified advisory role.
In an emotional farewell news conference Wednesday, Carroll, reading from a prepared statement, said he and ownership have "mutually agreed to set a new course." However, he said he "competed pretty hard" to remain Seattle's coach and that he ultimately "went along with their intentions." Carroll said his comments after the Seahawks' season finale that he wanted to continue coaching the team were "true to the bone."

I STILL to this day remember the 1992 video of Carroll doing the choke gesture to the dolphins. 31 plus years ago and even then I was like what a douche. Im old and he’s old……

The end of an era:

Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots are expected to part ways Thursday after a remarkable 24 seasons together, ending an unmatched run in NFL history that included six Super Bowl titles, league sources told ESPN.

Belichick and Patriots owner Robert Kraft spent a good part of this week periodically meeting and discussing how each side wanted to proceed. From sources familiar with those conversations, there was said to be no conflict, no disagreement, and in the end, productive talks resulted in a mutual decision that left both sides comfortable and at ease.

Both Belichick and Kraft, as one outside party noted, "took the high road," which was fitting for an owner-coach tandem that will go down as one of the greatest and most decorated in NFL history.

Belichick, who had one year remaining on his contract, will be allowed to leave the team without the Patriots seeking compensation. He will want to continue coaching and is expected to draw interest from at least some of the other seven NFL teams that have head-coaching vacancies, quite possibly the Atlanta Falcons, league sources said.

I didn't realize on average there are nearly 7 HC changes each year in the NFL. I think there is a slight variance after 2021 (10) but still interesting. After 2022 there were 5 and so far this year I think there are 8...image is from Reddit.

The Hoodie still needs 27 regular season wins to top Don Shula (328 career victories). So Belichick is far from hanging it up. Who wants him? How long will it take to get to 329? Frankly, I'd pass on Bill. And Pete. Yes, they are HOFers. But I want a guy that has the energy to electrify a locker room. Not guys in their 70s.

I want to win. If I'm the Chargers & I just got off a young energizing new guy..

I'm lying. I wouldn't go with those vets either. I'd be surprised if no one does though. Look what Denver did for that old fogie.

Although the controversy will rage on to the end of time, I personally feel that neither would have reached their peak without the other. When they separated, their new support cast had as much to do with their success or failure as their own individual skills.

A partnership would streamline distribution of the league's game broadcasts while further muddying the waters of ESPN's role in covering the NFL as an objectiv...

The Texans will get spurned on all the awards except for Stroud, which is to totally obvious for anyone else to win.
