Josh Lambo is "butthurt"............he re-injured his gluteus maximus muscle (the major butt muscle) which made him miss 1 month earlier this season. The muscle tear which was suffered during the last onside kick of the game was more severe than the earlier one.

NFL owners approve playoff, diversity measures

Commissioner Roger Goodell said Tuesday that owners have voted to approve two measures:

- Expanding to a 16-team playoff (from 14) this season if future games are lost because of the coronavirus pandemic. If that happens, there will not a re-seeding for the playoffs. The vote was unanimous.

- Incentives to reward teams with draft pick compensation (two third-round picks) if they develop coaches and executives of color.

Teams that develop a minority assistant coach or executive who are hired for an open head coach or general manager position with another team would be awarded the picks at the end of the third round.

That diversity measure is pretty wild. Haven't had time to really think it through yet, but for now.. wow.
 
Yahoo sports announcing 6 percent decline so far in TV ratings. Game avg 15 million. IMO, if they can maintain that NFL should be able to negotiate excellent contracts comparatively speaking..i would think ratings to climb second half season. An increase in number of teams in playoffs might keep more viewers turned in. Would be great if overall NFL play improves.

I'm betting TV will still want the NFL, regardless what the numbers say. They'll be competing with streaming services as well.

If it was close between 2 candidates, Say LaFluer/Bienemy, I would choose LaFluer over Bienemy because I wouldn't want to help the Chiefs. This rule is going to do more harm than good.

I do expect Bienemy to be to be the next HC of the Texans though since rumor has it both DW4/Pancakes want Bienemy to be the next HC of the Texans if he wants the job.

I get the concept of what you're saying, I just suppose I don't see a hung jury when it comes to hiring nfl head coaches and gms. Those positions are paramount in this league. Their value should certainly outweigh a couple comp picks. I think a candidate far more often stands out as THE man for the job rather than having to play eeny meeny miny moe. Jmo.
 
I have to wonder how a player like this is not permanently banned from the NFL.

Mark Walton was already facing an uphill battle when it came to returning to the NFL. Yesterday’s ruling is going to make that comeback a whole lot tougher. Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com passes along that the free agent running back has earned an eight-week suspension.

The 2018 fourth-round pick spent his rookie campaign with the Bengals, compiling 75 yards from scrimmage and five tackles. However, he subsequently ran into off-the-field issues, as Walton was arrested three times during the 2019 offseason. That ultimately led to him begin cut by Cincinnati.

Walton caught on with the Dolphins later that offseason, and he proceeded to start four of his seven appearances for Miami during the 2019 campaign. However, in early November of 2019, Walton was suspended four games by the NFL for violating the league’s personal conduct and substance abuse policies, and he was cut after being arrested in Florida later that month.

Walton was ultimately charged with a second count of aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, and he was arrested in February of 2020 after violating the terms of his restraining order. Those aforementioned charges were eventually dropped, but this latest suspension likely stems from the same matter.

She refused to testify about the incident where he beat her repeatedly about the face and head, stating she wanted to work things out.............translation: I don't want to hinder him from being able to make enough money to pay child support for our 2 children...............

Ravens TE Nick Boyle looked quite worrisome for a multi-ligament injury which includes an ACL. Will have to wait until tomorrow to find out the extent of his injury.
 
Brees suffered 2 fractured ribs and a collapsed lung yesterday against the 49ers. But when he was finally x-rayed yesterday, it was discovered that he had an additional 3 previously undiagnosed fractured ribs from a week ago against the Buccaneers. The fractures were distributed between the right and left chest. The last week, Brees was on the Injury Report for a right shoulder injury............how do you miss 3 rib fractures or mistake them for a shoulder injury? :toropalm:
 
Antonio Brown's latest incident with the law was unknown to the League before he was recently re-instated. His incite into his problems are summed up by his February 2020 interview statement.............."I haven’t done anything that bad."

NFL reviewing October 15 Antonio Brown incident

An October incident that allegedly saw Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown destroy a surveillance camera and throw a bicycle at a security booth at his gated community in Hollywood will be reviewed by the NFL.

A police report of the incident showed that officers believed Brown could be charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief, but that the president of the homeowner’s association decline to press charges because they feared retaliation. The NFL is now taking a look at what happened.
“The league reviews any such incident of this kind,” NFL vice president of communications Brian McCarthy said, via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the league was unaware of the incident before reinstating Brown from his eight-game suspension. He also notes that the league is monitoring the civil suit accusing Brown of rape that is set to move forward in January.

Antonio Brown may have violated Personal Conduct Policy by not reporting October 15 incident

Antonio Brown‘s latest problem may arise from the failure to disclose his latest problem to the NFL.

The NFL didn’t previously know about Brown’s October 15 incident, according to the NFL’s in-house media conglomerate. If that’s true, and surely it is since it’s coming from the NFL directly, the NFL has separate grounds for disciplining Brown.

Even though Brown was not arrested or charged, the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy imposes a broad, mandatory reporting obligation on any player involved in any incident that could be a violation of the Personal Conduct Policy.

“Failure to report an incident will be grounds for disciplinary action,” the league’s Personal Conduct Policy explains. “This obligation to report is broader than simply reporting an arrest; it requires reporting to the league any incident that comes to the club’s or player’s attention which, if the allegations were true, would constitute a violation of the Policy.”

In other words, the fact that Brown was involved in an incident that created sufficient probable cause to arrest him for misdemeanor criminal mischief imposed on Brown an obligation to let the league know about it, even if charges ultimately weren’t pressed. It’s also safe to assume that, given Brown’s extended history of off-field issues, someone from the NFL made sure at some point to make sure Brown knew to immediately contact the league office in the event that Brown had any other incidents, whether or not he was arrested.

Bruce Arians is done talking about Antonio Brown’s October 15 incident

Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians had his first media availability on Thursday since word emerged of an October 15 incident involving receiver Antonio Brown. Arians had little desire in talking to the media about the incident, however.

“Like the statement said, we were totally aware,” Arians said. “And he’s been a model citizen. I think we’re trying to beat a dead horse now. There’s been enough statements about it.”
Actually, there has been only one statement from the teams. And the statement didn’t say that the Buccaneers “were aware” of the incident upon signing Brown. Instead, the statement said only that they “are aware” now.

If anyone was going to ask Arians about that distinction, he made it clear in response to the next question — about Brown and his maturity level — that Arians had no interest in talking about it.
“I think we’ve had enough conversations about that, thank you,” Arians said.

Whether the team did or didn’t know about the October 15 incident before signing Brown becomes an important distinction, given that the NFL (according to the NFL’s in-house media operation) didn’t know about the October 15 incident. If the Buccaneers truly knew about the October 15 incident before signing him, then the Buccaneers acquired an obligation under the Personal Conduct Policy to tell the league about it.

Our guess (and it’s just a guess) is that the Buccaneers didn’t actually know about it before signing Brown, and that Arians is either accidentally or deliberately blurring the lines so that he doesn’t have to answer questions about it.

Still, even if he refuses to answer the question at his next virtual press conference, it’s fair to ask him for clarity regarding the timeline. If the team knew, it’s fair to ask whether the team told the league. If the team didn’t know, it’s fair to ask whether before signing Brown they asked if there are any other incidents they don’t know about.

A torn ACL and MCL in his left knee plus “other structural” damage. I hope is career is not over. I doubt he is able to play at all next season but I hope he makes it back 100% in 2022.

I was going to post this in the NFL Random Thought of the Day thread like other ACLs (which I will do anyway). ACLs are commonly associated with MCL injury. With contact ACLs, as the one that Burrow suffered, the ACL disruptions are most commonly associated with high-grade MCL tears. Approximately 55% of ACLs are associated with meniscal tears......more commonly the lateral meniscus (a worse prognosis [like Clowney] than the medial meniscus). A contact ACL is associate with articular cartilage damage in ~50% of cases...........even higher with ACL/MCL injuries. The real findings will not be known until surgery. Unfortunately, Burrow's situation, as it stands from what we do know now, places some question as to next season and even his expected career.

This is ACL #32.

Bruce Arians' offense is based on downfield throws. Without a shifty slot WR in the offense, I always thought Brady would struggle and then the season started and I thought the offense adjusted. However, looking at the last couple of weeks, Brady is struggling even more than I thought.

I was thinking he'll fumble through a lot with his new team. The anticipation is off... & Gronk ain't Gronk anymore.


But I wasn't thinking 0-19 over 4 games.
