I didn’t see the Patriots take a swipe at Hunt or Hill. They obviously have a line somewhere.
One reason Brown was dropped so fast is people say anything involving possible sexual assault is instant career death sentence in BB's book and he will drop anyone working for him, from player to staff, for being involved in that. Makes it really ironic that he works for Kraft.

OK. So. I'm going to go on a little rant here. This is not directed at anyone in particular, just at the overall situation.

For me. I am not a young person. I miss the days before Facebook and Twitter and Instagram and even forums when pretty much all you knew about your team and your players was maybe a snippet here and there on the evening news, where you really didn't hear much about who the owners were and what they believed and why they did things, when the only insight you might get into the players was because Elvin Bethea happened to work at the same place as your mother or players from the team might come into the place where you work.

I'm agnostic/atheistic. I don't care about their beliefs. I don't expect football players to be choir boys. I'm not surprised if they have criminal records or anger management issues. I'm not saying I want a bunch of Lance Rentzels or Rae Carruths, but I think it's important to not be TOO judgy. So I'm not happy if ownership gets worked up about and ships off productive players who have lifestyles that aren't harming innocent people.

I'm a fan of Houston football, because I love football and Houston is my home town (even though I haven't lived there in over 30 years.) I want to see a good, competitive team on the field. I want to have good players and coaches so everyone looks pretty much like they belong there. I want my team to make the playoffs and occasionally be in the hunt for the Lombardi. My team has never won it all since the merger. I can't be Superbowl or Bust because every year would be a bust. I have to find joy and entertainment where I can, or I'd stop being a football fan. Up until this last season, O'Brien's teams were mostly entertaining but then things got silly and he destroyed the team.

I'm just going to leave that there along with just saying that I don't want to hear any more about the influence of the team chaplain. I'm just going to follow along and hope that Caserio can put together a competent staff, hire competent coaches, and field a good, entertaining team that I can follow.

So the question of how good is Caserio can be answered by is it Belichick made Brady OR Brady made Belichick? I think Brady answered that question Sunday. The Pats cupboard was bare from poor drafting and why Brady opted to leave NE. Brady made the Pats and Belichick. Without Brady the Pats are losers.

I want to see a good, competitive team on the field.
Most of us would say this but it obviously isn't true. Since 2011 we've had a team that is competitive across the league.

Sorry division & all that, but two teams from this division has made the playoffs the last few years & two have gotten to the AFCCG.

We want a team that's competitive with the top teams in the league, & that's what the McNairs have failed to deliver.

Caserio is the only adult in the room when considering the two headed monster of ineptitude Cal/Easterby
Cal is the owner. We shouldn't expect him to do anything but get out of the way.

Maybe he was waiting on Caserio. & hiring Caserio last year was too close to the tampering allegations. & quite frankly what was done was probably tampering.

So he put two placeholders in place & things just got out of hand.

Hopefully that is the case & he'll step back now, letting Caserio do his job, including making peace with Watson. Watson who said unless Cal can fire himself... if he can be convinced Cal is going to do like a good owner & let Caserio do his job.

Most likely this is correct. Cal doesn't seem to be the sort of guy comfortable in fron of the camera answering questions. I think he will disappear from sight and let Caserio be the face to the media. Caserio can fix the issues between Watson and McNair by simply taking control of the situation. Relieve Cal of his interfering ways, apologize to Watson for the state of things, sit down and come to a middle ground and agree how to move forward in a partnership.

That narrative has a hole in it. O'Brien was trying to trade Hopkins a year earlier. Brian Gaine laughed at the suggestion. In fact, Hopkins was trade fodder as soon as Jack Easterby entered the building. I don't think that's a coincidence.
Doesn't change a thing IMO. O'Brien still stunned that he was told to trade Hop no matter what return was. I am not disagreeing with Bill wanting Deandre gone earlier.

All fine and good,

But DW4 doesn't want to be here.

He wants to be in a place where he can improve his brand and his GF can do her modeling thingy.

Like I said, I was only speaking about me. Up until the fiasco with Hopkins and the total meltdown of this team, I was NOT one of the people asking for BOB's head.

Even though I wanted to see improvement, I remember all the years where we were not competitive. I was OK. I was willing to let the team emotionally rebound from 51-31 and start again this season.

JJ's first ballot. You disagree?
JJ is a 3x Defensive Player of the Year and he's extremely likeable. He was clearly the best pass rusher in the league for many years.

Voters will take into account that his career was handicapped because he played for the Houston Texans.

And I'm sure he'll be a media darling in the five years after he retires, so they will love him even more.

I have no doubt that he's a 1st ballot HoFer. I'll be surprised if proven otherwise.

He's also the only player in history with two 20 sack seasons. That'll get him in on the first ballot right there.

When Caserio holds a PR to talk about his HC hire, I want to ask him some questions, because I know these radio stations won't ask him the hard questions.

Caserio is part of the three headed monster. This dumpster fire was raging before Caserio showed up. Nick had a year to think about it and yet he still showed up. Caserio did not make the Korn Ferry recommended list. Nick Caserio is part of the Helter Skelter. Dave Culley is living proof.

I gotta give some of the 610 guys credit because they've actually been critical of the Texans lately. When the corporate flagship radio station is b*tching about the team you just KNOW its bad.

Three reasons to fire Nick Caserio:

Oh I get it - you like these three better.
Each to his own.
That doesn't explain why NC should be fired.

UMMM because they have the actual duties and job responsibilities of a GM and more training than a file clerk and facilitator. And because DeMeco needs a strong GM to help guide him thru his first couple of years as a brand new head coach.

And had they hired Payton you would argue that he should be gone because he doesn't need a strong GM, just one who will buy the groceries off his list and not challenge his authority.

I'm pretty sure you had a cut-&-paste FIRE NICK CASERIO response for every HC candidate available this year all written out in a Word document, just tweaked to their specific strength or weakness.

1. I was against hiring Payton, I see it as nothing more than a money grab, plus w/o Brees Payton wasn't a great coach.
2. In New Orleans Payton had a strong GM in Mickey Loomis, one of the strongest in the NFL. Loomis hired Payton.
3. Caserio is not a strong GM.

I didn't say you were in favor of hiring Payton. I said had he been hired you would have had a reason why Caserio wasn't the right GM to work with him.

In other words, the selected candidate was a fill-in-the-blank to your FIRE CASERIO statement.

I think he will be fired next season if this year does not go well. I think he has bungled this rebuild. Not keeping Culley was a mistake.

I’m very unsure how you can say this has been bungled when it has barely started. We just finished year 1 and while I wouldn’t say things look great they’re on the up.
Not keeping Culley was a mistake but I don’t think it cost us anything besides Cal’s cash.
