Did you just come up with that? If so, you should send this sentence to the Texans. It's definitely worthy of a banner in the halls of NRG or motivational t-shirts or a laminated card in each player's locker. What happens is we do what is best in that moment.
Right now the Texans are stuck and there’s a very strong possibility they will be paying him 35 million next year to sit.
I think he has to be formally charged with a criminal offenseDo we have disciplinary recourse to suspend him if his legal issues aren't cleared up and we can't find a trade partner?

With this Gomer Pyle organization, he might just get paid the whole length of his contract while sitting.Right now the Texans are stuck and there’s a very strong possibility they will be paying him 35 million next year to sit.

On the other hand, let the dude waste the prime of his career. The only reason I even care anymore is to get compensation for him to help turn this shitshow around a little quicker. If that's not going to happen for whatever reason, particularly if the reason is Watson not expanding the teams he's willing to go to, then **** him. Let his career rot. I wouldn't even want to cut him so he could freely sign wherever he wanted.
You don't think the Texans will do that 2 years in a row? You underestimate them my good man.Couldn't agree more. However, let's just say if there is no resolution for Watson as the draft approaches, but there is still plenty of pending legal stuff to get around, what then? What happens if we're still up in the air at that time and the NFL has made no decisions. What then? Do we keep paying him to not play? I don't think the Texans will do that two years in a row.
Worst case scenario is Texans have an auction and auction DW4 off as is. You may only get 1 or 2 1st RD draft picks but that is better than nothing.Couldn't agree more. They would be silly to do that. There is no rush to trade him before this draft. Let the legal stuff have time to work, you can probably void his contract or trade him post June 1 for much better resultsWorst case scenario is Texans have an auction and auction DW4 off as is. NFL World Reacts To Monday’s Deshaun Watson News
As it currently sits, the chances of Deshaun Watson playing another down in a Texans uniform are slim. And now, a new development could give some insight into the decisions he could make this coming offseason.
Previous reports suggested Watson was seriously interested in playing for the Miami Dolphins solely based on his opinion of head coach Brian Flores. If true, it wouldn’t be surprising if Watson then tried to urge the Texans to trade him to the team Flores next coaches.
However, it doesn’t appear the Watson-Flores reports were accurate.
Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Flores and Watson don’t even have each other’s phone numbers. In other words, they haven’t had contact throughout this process.
We think it’s safe to say no one knows how this Deshaun Watson situation is going to unfold.
Most teams we’d hope would be bidding would have addressed their QB situation by June 1stThey would be silly to do that. There is no rush to trade him before this draft. Let the legal stuff have time to work, you can probably void his contract or trade him post June 1 for much better results
Plus, they would just be pushing the rest of the dead money to 2023. It's not going away. Most teams we’d hope would be bidding would have addressed their QB situation by June 1st
I kind of feel like that might be the case as well. Who would want to deal with this or want this POS making headlines in their employment? To a lot of people the guy is a complete turd now. He looks and has acted like a turd and as much as this has reflected poorly on the Texans it's put a fair amount of stink on Watson as well. When you rule out the teams that simply don't need a QB, then add to that the teams that aren't stupid enough to hire a guy who makes prime Roethlisberger look like a sexual abuse counselor and that leaves few teams to try and sell him to. Finally you have to factor in the no-trade clause. What happens if we simply end up having to cut him to get rid of him or take far less than he's worth to get a buyer to make the deal?

He's not getting any accredited time is he?I feel pretty much the same way.
If we can't trade him, I'd rather he not play for the duration of his contract .... but that after the end of the contract the team retains his rights because he didn't fulfill the contract essentially stopping him from playing elsewhere beyond that.

What makes anyone think Watson is playing next year?
He won’t see the field with criminal cases pending. If it was just civil, then sure. Nobody is touching him without resolution from the GJ.That little thing called….the judicial system having the time to take its course versus the peanut gallery screaming guilty with all their might.

Where we disagree is whether Derrick's legal troubles will be cleaned up before the draft. It’ll be bad, but I’ll be more than happy to splurge for the straw so the team can just suck it up in 2022.
If Watson’s legal situation hasn’t cleared up enough by the draft, the team would have to sit on him b/c his contract is guaranteed regardless of where he’s sitting. For me, the opportunity to move Watson may be anytime after June 1st and before the 2023 NFL Draft.
If Watson’s depositions in February show that there’s some light at the end of the tunnel, there may be some teams willing to gamble that they could get Watson for less compensation before the 2022 NFL Draft or the 2022 NFL Trade Deadline versus waiting around for the final outcome. Teams also know that Caserio’s asking price will go up exponentially if and when Watson clears his final legal hurdle which should have a conclusion before the 2023 NFL Draft.

Wouldn't it be weird if they were both paying him and suing him at the same time?
That's just it unfortunately. Each one of us has a different idea of what the best is in any given situation. You can see it in every topic in every thread. Some think in the draft for example we should go offense others defense. Unfortunately for us we have to depend on the Texans Brain Trust to do that one best thing and we have been burned repeatedly. I guess my comment was more out of frustration than sarcasm.Did you just come up with that? If so, you should send this sentence to the Texans. I was so excited that Bill O'Brien was gone that I was eager to see what David Culley could do. I did not think he was best in that moment but Caserio did.
I actually thought he could have been that best in that moment although I didn't see how he could be. We are able to demand what we think is that 'best' when there is no consequences for us.
Last guy who had a pretty good draft without a 1st or 2nd round pick didn’t last 19 monthsThe last draft was promising in this regard. IMHO

Just saying
I was talking about Brian Gaine
I would think Watson would get credit for 2021 as he did not refuse to play.I don't know the answer to that.
One would hope not .... I'm sure he thinks he is and his agent probably does too.
But if you wanted to play hardball in court, I think you might be able to show he refused services meaning the contract isn't fulfilled ... really more hypothetical than anything.
I was just being .... vindictive?
He made up for that by taking Kahale Warring in the 3rd.Isn't that who drafted Howard and Scharping in rds 1-2?

You’re right. I thought he did the Justin Reid draft.Isn't that who drafted Howard and Scharping in rds 1-2?
Unfortunately you will probably be correct. Not going to happen. If convicted 2 years max
If you haven’t accepted the reality we are getting nothing for Watson, I think you should start preparing yourself.
Anything we do get would be very surprising.
IMHO.

The Texans already screwed it up paying him not to play this year. Should have told him to get his ass on the field, let him fake his injury, and then take him to court. Now, they can pay him the whole $160,000,000 for all I care, as long as he doesn't take another snap for anyone for the next 4 years.
Might get that 167 million back, that would be something.

I believe Atlanta got everything back from VickIt's a very long shot we would get everything back. But it could happen I would assume
He demanded a trade and said he wouldn't perform for the team.
The team left it at that .... they didn't force him to perform.
Dammit, I was hoping inactive didn't count... but hopefully he will be indicted before March and they can cut him
