A QB fumble on a run and then a sloppy pass from Wenz to give ball right back. Then Bison intercept? Wow
That last Bison INT was a reverse pass made by their backup freshman QB.

I wouldn't be mad if we took him with the 31st pick (Pats don't have a #1) and let him sit for a year to learn the system.

I think he goes in the Top 15 and would not be surprised if it was Top 10.I would be mad if we waited till the 31st pick to move on him as I don't think he gets that far.
How many games had Wentz missed?

I'm saying he's in the conversation to be the 1st qb taken...if he checks all the intangible boxes- watch out !

And they played against who? Do you even know where Jacksonville St. is?First time I've seen him play live. Have to say I was impressed. He was way more polished than I expected him to be.
And they played against who? Do you even know where Jacksonville St. is?
Wake me up when he plays in the senior bowl or something.
Charlie Casserly is that you?
Guess why Texans passed on Ben Roethlisberger because he played for Miami of Ohio & never played anybody.
ORHello Rick Smith is that you?
You have Joe Flacco there for the taking but trade his rights to Baltimore, believing playing @ Delaware he never played anybody therefore lacked NFL pedigree.
Division 1 FCS isn't as sexy as SEC that's for sure but if you can't evaluate talent, scoure the country for a franchise QB, you could be missing out on next one up.
Learn from your own (McNair) brief, pathetic history of mistakes judging QB position. Texan Fans deserve a QB who can lead & inspire a franchise & your not getting any younger or wiser if you don't!
I thought they passed on Big Ben because they already had their golden boy QB . That was 04 and in 05 they passed on Discount Double Check for the same reason . Oh but them Carr's were good people .

Wentz has the size and the arm strength folks like to see in an NFL QB. And I readily admit I haven't seen much of him. What I saw was the little I watched of the NDSU game this past weekend. And he looked pretty good.I understand the competition argument, but if you cannot or will not project, it doesn't mean others can't or won't.
You can see Lebron on a playground and not know who he is and some would say that guy has NBA talent. Some would say no, and some would say "wake me up when he plays better competition".
But I think people here thirst for actual analysis because "I'll wait until I see" it isn't really a discussion point in a thread like this.
Do you have any actual opinions about Wentz?
Yes, you have to project a bit further than someone that plays on a higher level of football, but it's all still projection.
Was he invited to the Senior Bowl or East-West Game? Maybe games like that will give me, all of us, a better look at what he can do.

My point was that their opponent was pretty much overmatched across the board. So it's tough, for me anyway, to project what he would do at the next level. Hell, for all I know he could be the next Steve McNair.
All that to say I need more data. Was he invited to the Senior Bowl or East-West Game? Maybe games like that will give me, all of us, a better look at what he can do.
What would you give up to get him?
We know where we'll be picking now. You have an idea of where he's going to go. Are you willing to give up what it's going to take to get him?
I'd move up 3 to 4 places, for the simple fact of I'm tired of teams jumping right in front of us when we're in position to draft an offensive talent to help us out in the first round (or first pick in the second).
Notice they get proactive after the fact? Last year they moved higher twice (2nd & 3rd round) so maybe this will be the year they do it in the first. Anybody remember the only other time they did that & how well that turned out? First one gets a rep![]()

NEW at @draftbreakdown: QB Carson Wentz (North Dakota State) vs Jacksonville State (2015) http://draftbreakdown.com/video/carson-wentz-vs-jacksonville-state-2015/…
Based on the Championship game and Wentz starting and playing the entire game, I'm convinced that his wrist is fine and is now, at this stage in the process, my #1 QB in this year's draft.
I'm interested to see how he performs at SB away from NDSU. That place somehow just breeds success. This will be a good crop of SB QB's this year. Best in a while I think.
Brandon Allen
Jacoby Brissett
Jake Coker
Jeff Driskel
Kevin Hogan
Cody Kessler
Dak Prescott
Carson Wentz
If he stands out above that crowd then his stock might start to soar.
Comparable peak: Joe Flacco
Recent comparable prospect: Jake Locker
Overall: Of all of the high-end projects in this class, I think Carson Wentz is the one who is the furthest away. He not only has to adjust to the speed of the NFL from college football, but he's not doing it from a baseline speed of Power Five schools, like Jared Goff and Connor Cook are, or even a mid-major, like Paxton Lynch is, but instead from the FCS level.
Wentz is a pretty big boom-bust prospect at this point. Even then, his peak is to be a quality NFL starter, not a "franchise quarterback." If he doesn't land with the right mentor, his career will not turn out the way anyone has it planned. You don't draft him and hope to figure out a path to success later. You need a map of how you're getting him on the field in two years in your hand when you turn in his card in Chicago. He already broke his wrist and missed two-and-a-half months this season. His timing needs a boost, and sooner rather than later.

Yeah, it's from the Bleacher Report, but it's another point of view.
Justis looks like a very fine bright young man who could still be in high school and has never been on a football field. If Mike Mayock thinks Wentz could be the first QB drafted, who you going with? Mike or Justis?
