Badboy's college players to watch for future

@badboy @steelbtexan Curious on your thoughts of Tez Walker after all the drama to start the year with eligibility issues at UNC. He has looked like a bonafide superstar since getting the green light. Right now he has a mid to low draft grade (5-6 round). I definitely seeing him moving up to 3-4 round after these last few performances.

JAG at this point. Pretty good at Kent.. but so what? Transfer red tape negated almost half of this year. Too many WR hopefuls like him.
I cannot see any NFL team risking higher than a six rounder on him as of now. He needs to really ball out the rest of the season.

I'm going to disagree with @badboy here- I like Walker a lot. He's not not in that first tier (MHJ) or second tier (Coleman, Odunze, Egbuka, Nabers), but I think he's in the next tier.

Since his return he has had the following lines :

6/43/0 In limited snap count
6/132/3
11/146/1

At Kent in his 2022 year he had 58/921/11.

At 6’3 200 pounds he’s a little lanky compared to other guys I like but he compares to Puka Nacua who went 5th round to the Rams at pick 177. Puka is 6’2 201 and has played above his draft grade. I am trying to figure if Tez is doing these things because of Maye or if he really is a bonafide sleeper. He will absolutely go before the 6th IMO.

He's only a sophmore, but Utah's S/RB Siona Vaki sure looks intriguing.
He does and although only a sophomore, I think he is draft eligible if he wants to come out. He graduated high school 2019. He then did 2 years mission for his church and 2 years Utah. He meets CBA criteria being past his HS graduating class.

Big, fast, and good routes:
South Carolina football's Xavier Legette recorded the fastest ballcarrier speed of the season at 22.3 mph, faster than Tyreek Hill's top NFL speed. https://www.greenvilleonline.com/st...-carolina-football-wide-receiver/70970107007/
If Legette does what it looks like he's going to do at the combine, he's going in the 1st rd. That size and speed is so rare somebody will take a chance on him in rd one.

If I'm Caserio I draft Newton and if Legette is there at the end of rd one I'm trading up for Legette

Then draft either Rocket Sanders or Jase McClellan in rd 4.

That knee injury of Sanders seems to be continuing and that continually concerns me.

It’s a good list. I like Brugler. I like his prospect analysis. I’m surprised by a few of these, especially that the DTs dropped from 5 to 2.

Honestly I’d target WR, edge, or CB in rounds 1-2. Maybe DT, but only if Newton fell. But ultimately everything depends on how the board falls draft day.

Makes me want to trade down even more.

I would have a hard time picking between Newton and Egbuka if the Texans are picking at 1-20. I probably would go with Newton and sign either Wilkins or Reader in FA.

Things I noticed when it comes to the WR's, Mitchell but no Worthy. No Xavier Legette? Brian Thomas I like alot, but 1-25? No Ja'Tavion Sanders?

If things fell this way and the Texans were picking at say 1-20

Rd.1 Newton
Rd.2 Legette
Rd.2 trading up from 3-84 into the top 60 for Ja'Tavion Sanders using a 4th and a 7th.
Rd.4 Best RB available.

Why? Newton and Egbuka are difference makers.

When have you not wanted to trade down?
So are Legette and Ja'lynn polk , Kris Abrams-Draine and Jermaine Burton avg 22 and 5 TDs.
I often want to trade down as we need more players and quality exist in round two and three this draft.

I'm more of a quality over quantity guy.

For instance

Give me 3 players in next yrs draft that can start quickly and I'm happy.

If that means drafting

1-20
2-52
2-60

By trading up using a 3rd/4th/7th. Sign me up.

I understand that philosophy and can agree with it. however, I think that quality exists in my scenario.

Exceptions to the rule.

He doesn't miss practices or have harem's distracting him as far as I know.

I wouldn't draft a guy from Clemson with a high pick and I wouldn't have more than one or two guys from Clemson on the team. Wilkins and Reader are two of those guys I would have on the team.

Painting with that broad brush is a fault my friend. Wilkins, Reader, M.Williams,Tee Higgins, the kid in ATL, man they have high end prospects that produce. They have a dt there this year who is pretty good also, Ruke something

I would pick guys from Clemson in the 3rd rd or later. I also wouldn't have more than 2 of them at the same time on my team.

WR Xavier Leggett (South Carolina) and RB Bucky Irving (Oregon) had nice games. As Leggett continues his season….it’s getting and harder to think he’ll fall back to 16+ in RD1.

In the event XL is gone before the Texans pick, then I might keep an eye on WR Brian Thomas Jr (LSU). He’s got the length (6-4 @ 205 lbs) and speed (4,47-40) to be solid WR1. He’s not getting the targets Nabers receives, but he’s every bit as productive (17.1 AVG and 11 TD).

Agreed, but I dont trust Dabo's guys. Would I've missed out on guys? Yes, but I'm fine with that.
That's because your career doesn't depend on it. If you follow Clemson, Dabo is very, very selective on the players he recruits. He doesn't have a roster full of 4 and 5 star players. Yes, he gets his share, but he's big on culture. He's really only has 2 guys who were trouble in the nfl and that's Watson and Bryant. The rest of those guys have been fine. Reader, Watkins, Jarrett, Wilkins, T-Law, Williams, Etienne and the list going on. Like I've said before, scout the player, not the helmet.

Where do guys like Ferrell/ Ross/Simmons etc... come into play? I first started watching Clemson back in the Gaines Adams era RIP. I thought he was going to be great he was then I found out we were going to have a party about the NIL deals and know that my wife wasn't arguing with a redneck just Graine land's finest.

Pinging @steelbtexan here too so I didn’t derail the Week 9 enjoyment thread. Legette is slowly playing himself out of round 2 and firmly into round 1. I know it was against Jacksonville State, but 9/217/2 with a 24 yard average and 65 yard long just shows how athletically superior he is to most prospects right now.

Legette or Newton are still the apples of my eye round 1, but if we don’t get either of them I am starting to consider Egbuka to reunite him with Stroud (the combo had 74 connections for 1151 yards and 10 touchdowns last year). Tank as the field stretcher, Nico as the big body, and Egbuka as the savvy technician to navigate zone coverages and to give Stroud his safety blanket. Odunze would also be optional here if he gets leapfrogged by Legette/Nabers/Egbuka.

With Legette likely out of my round two discussion, I want to go back to my initial thought of doing what it takes to get Trey Benson here. If it involves a trade up to early round 2, then it’s worth it. I still like Rocket Sanders in the third but he has lacked a bit of explosion lately and Benson is getting better and better. Check out his highlights from the Wake game

Explosive plays. This past week we experienced what explosive plays look like. In my opinion, it’s what separates great teams from good teams. We need the horses to keep up that style of play.

I think the Texans will be picking around 1-20, I'm all for picking Legette there. I've watched quite a bit of him since you told me about him. A threat to score anytime he touches the ball and a field stretcher.

Wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if Rd.1 Legette Rd.2 after trading up Benson. These guys are threats to score every time they touch the ball.

If somehow the Texans could come out of this draft with Legette/Benson/Stover, this would set the offense up to be a top offense next yr.

Lost in all the excitement, I wonder how Robert Woods would have played yesterday versus San Francisco?
If Collins, Dell and Woods when he returns continue with production even close to what happened yesterday and X and Metchie can get on the field does that allow us to look away from drafting a wide receiver in first two rounds? Or if someone that you really want is there do you pull the trigger? I don't think we are exactly at BPA for now.

If a guy like Legette is there at 1-20, then I'm picking him, unless Newton is there. It's more about differencemakers for me than positions.

You can go to Bama and Georgia and find the same failures. Jonah Williams, Alex Leatherwood, Womack. Flucker, Riggs, etc. It happens. Some guys doesn't transition to nfl as well as ecpected

Who is Ross?

The question is if a guy you like is there at 1-20 and happens to be a WR, do you take him or do you wait and hope he he falls to 2-52. I draft the guy I like.
Most times, it's a cluster if guys who you have a pretty similar grade on. So when you have the cluster, then you take your choice. Rankins and Ridgeway are 1 yr rentals who can't stay on the field. Since the qb seems to be that dude, I think you can do what gb and Pittsburgh do and draft your guy in the 2nd,3rd rd. I think cornerback has a huge hole with 2 guys on at the end of their contract and Stingley staying Injured

I'm giving my young QB everything he needs to succeed. I'm drafting Legette.

Want to fix the DT issue? Sign Wilkins in FA and draft Sweat in the 2nd rd. Sign A.J. Dillon and another CB in FA. Bring back Nelson. I'm terrible at evaluating CB's.
