All encompassing 2023 Draft thoughts thread.

If I were caserio, I would tell Chicago if you trade 1.1 to anyone wanting Young i will draft Anderson. Arizona will take Carter and you get stuck with leftovers. Bears need to get one of those two.
They also might call our bluff if we do that.

If the Bears trade out of the #1 spot with another team, I'm taking Will Anderson at #2.
Then I trade back up with the Lions and take a QB. I think one of the top four will slide to #6.
It's a crap shoot anyway right? Who knows who the Texans really fancy at QB here anyway?
Coming out of the first round with Anderson and a top 4 QB would be a good result.
Use one of next year's firsts if you have to so you can continue to build with a full draft book this year and still have a first next year.

Not a QB in this draft worth 2 firsts. Take Anderson and the BPA... WR maybe

Why are the Lions trading up again?

With his shoulder continuing to give him grief, Bryce Young's draft stock is destined to fall - it's just a matter of time.
If it doesn't show so much on draft boards and mocks, it will definitely show on draft day as teams realize his chances of reinjury are high.
This will definitely throw a wrench in the proceedings at the top of the draft as I can now see CJ Stroud as the #1 QB in this draft.
Texans have been bitten too many times by injured draftees - let's hope they have learned their lesson.

"No one's gonna rush me," Poles told Peter King of NBC Sports. "I know I can get a '24 one and a '25 one. You're telling me for the next two years I'll have two ones? That's either four really good players, or if we're cruising, we can still trade back."

This comment from Poles confirms my belief that we better not trade 2 future 1sts to go up one spot. He’s power hungry, and I kinda hope no one gives him 2 future 1sts unless it’s past pick #7. I understand why he’s doing it, but still.

Agree.
If that's the price to move up, he can keep his spot and we'll take our choice of QBs at #2.
Playing hardball may work against them.

I hope someone other than the Texans does give him what he wants

With the character cloud now cast over Jalen Carter, the Bears really need Texans to trade up - that way they gain some free draft capital and still get Anderson at #2.
Texans sit pat at #2 and Bears will likely take Will Anderson at #1 leaving us with the pick of the QB crop and that is precisely why we must sit pat at #2.
Bears will be very loathe to trade down to #4 because Cards will be a threat to take Anderson so they are not in as great a position as many think.
And if Bears do trade with Colts, then we are a threat to take Anderson - or again, the Cards.

Just to clarify. Young's "shoulder continuing to give him pain" is conjecture for now.

Future round ones are looked at as one round lower than current draft. 2024 round 1 is a round 2 of sending team. A round 1 in 2025 = a round 3 current draft. Of course, value reverts AFTER the current draft.

Panthers giving a 2023 round 2 and round 3 for 1.1 while keeping all present selections is a very good deal if locked in on a QB.

Good deal for both teams.

Yep as I proposed earlier. We could do vey well if Caserio wants Hooker later. I can see two trade downs from 1.2 and another from 1.12.

Get FAs I want and I will sing Car Stereo praises.

Although drew sanders has been compared to tremaine edmonds I would like to see what he could do as an edge for the texans.

Just for discussion, his play in 2022 season after injury indicates you are wrong but i imagine you're correct.
His competitive nature and sense of duty to his team likely over rode his advice from his doctor.
It must be a low grade injury else he could not have played at all, but one must ask, has he done more harm than good - especially when you take into consideration his reticence to throw?

Sanders' value is that he can play stack LB on early downs, and rush the QB on 3rd down. Having a guy that has that type of versatility is a dream for a DC.
Yes not sure if Anderson will be more than see QB get QB yet he does that well. I would use a 5-3-3 defense a lot if i had better mirror press cover guys. Looking at you Gonzalez and Forbes with safety Brown and Pitre.

Or a nightmare unless he's like the old Michigan St olb who also did that at a high level. He could be another Van Noy

All these QB predictions all over the place, why do I feel like year 2005 is going to repeat itself as far quarterback are concerned.

I don’t know of any prospects off the top of my head from there. I’ll have to dig.
LB Cam Jones is their best player. He missed half the season with a foot injury, but worked out at the combine. Luke Haggard is a OT that deserves a workout. The Texans have looked at some Indiana DBs Devon Matthews and Tiawan Mullen at all star games.

That was early. The Trade Value Chart says the 1st is worth 3000 points, and the Bears got 1350 for the 9th pick and 520 for the 39th. That would have the 2024 1st, 2025 2nd, and Moore equal 1130 points. Maybe that comes out if they value Moore as a 1st round pick.

The Bears could end up with Jalen Carter with the 9th pick. I think they're eyeing help on the O-line, though. I think that the Bears could have gotten more if they had traded down multiple times (4th, then 7th or 9th), but we'll never know for sure.

I really am not sure whom the Panthers are targeting. I'd take Bryce Young. Panthers GM Scott Fitterer was the Seahawks director of college scouting when they took Russell Wilson in 2011. I'm guessing he is leaning Young. Not sure about the owner or Frank Reich, the new HC. It's obviously something they've been working on, so there must be some agreement amongst them.

How does it affect the Texans? Well, it puts them in the hot seat for teams wanting to trade up. Are they comfortable staying put and taking the pick no matter whom the Panther select? Or do they look for deals? I don't think we'll know for sure until they're on the clock.

This isn’t complicated at all. Panthers draft Young, Texans take Stroud. Panthers take Stroud, Texans draft Young.

All this other conjecture is just message board fodder so people have something to discuss. This team is desperate for a QB. A potential franchise QB is going to literally fall in your lap, and you’re telling me there is a real debate on Kirby? Not buying it for a nano second.

Lol. Why would they be considering signing Jimmy G (he won't come cheap) if they were planning on drafting Young or Stroud with the #2 pick, when both players are ready to start on day 1? They'll either trade down or draft their choice of Anderson or Carter at #2. My money is on them trading down.

They didn't get #39, they got #61 which is worth 292 instead. So they think even more of Moore

their new QB coach is McCown who was very high on Stroud
McCown is very high on Young. The Bears should have got #39. Their GM does not impress me.

This article says the Panthers are undecided on who they will take. 🤔
That's BS. You don't make that trade without conviction on a QB.

Agree, unless it's buyer's remorse?
And you don't give up your #1 receiver in the process.
