Well, what do you like about Tyree Wilson?Tyree Wilson is a top 5 talent and Keion White is a fringe first rounder on every big board I've seen. No way would I take White over Wilson...

Mills for the win!
A meaningless game now takes on profound meaning one week away from consequences.Mills for the win!![]()

Good eye, wondered when someone would pick up on that, tank job. Well coached team those Colts.Looked like Rodney Thomas should have intercepted that pass to Akins.
Cue the Twilight Zone theme?
When I saw that play happen live I knew then the Colts let the Texans win. I was even more upset after the that. lolLooked like Rodney Thomas should have intercepted that pass to Akins.

History is full of key plays that impacted the next decade for many teams:A meaningless game now takes on profound meaning one week away from consequences.
A lot of that has to do with familiarity. Wilson was a top ranked HS recruit that after settling in at Tech blossomed into a real force. White was a nobody out of HS that put it together on the field in his 6th college year. That's a big difference. But in terms of how they are playing right now, Wilson and White have a lot of similarities in their games. Both have pro bodies with plus athleticism for their size. Both rely on the bull rush to a large extent. Both are great at chasing down backside plays.Tyree Wilson is a top 5 talent and Keion White is a fringe first rounder on every big board I've seen.

One of them has a foot injury and has yet to workout during the draft process. And while I fully expect Wilson to go well ahead of White, the value play is White later in the draft. You could end up with a player that's very close in ability, at a much lower draft value price.
Perhaps we could call that play the "Hail naw!"History is full of key plays that impacted the next decade for many teams:
The tuck rule (Patriots)
The catch (49er's)
The immaculate reception (Steelers)
The fumble (Cleveland Browns)
I fear the Hail Mary catch in the Colts game will impact the Texans for several years - negatively.
Honestly can’t see how anyone can blame Lovie for that. Well, yeah I guess he could have kicked the field goal, but last time he went for the tie he got his head ripped off.
As much as I hate this scenario, if the Colts are going to end up with Stroud anyway, I would prefer the Texans to trade #2 to the Colts for #4 and #79 3rd round pick. At least we get something out of it. Either Anderson or Wilson will be there at 4.I think the possibility of Will Anderson ED at #2 and Will Levis QB at #12 is a very distinct possibility for Texans and here's why.
#1 Carolina - Bryce Young
#2 Houston - Will Anderson
#3 Arizona - Tyree Wilson
#4 Indianapolis - CJ Stroud
#5 Seattle - Jalen Carter
#6 Detroit - Devon Witherspoon
#7 Las Vegas - Christopher Gonzalez
#8 Atlanta - Bijan Robinson
#9 Chicago - Paris Johnson or P. Skoronski
#10 Phil - Lukas Van Ness or Myles Murphy
#11 Tennessee - Anthony Richardson or Will Levis
#12 Houston - Will Levis or Anthony Richardson
This seems logical, but the draft usually has a surprise or two.
You will notice there is no trade in this scenario - this is more plausible than you may think as this is a pretty strong draft and teams may well save their draft picks and let the board come to them.
It will be interesting to see if anyone breaks rank.
If Las Vegas takes either AR or W Levis, Tenn could take the remaining one. This will leave Texans in a quandary or they can just take a quality CB in Gonzales or another prospect they have their eye on and take a punt on Hooker at #33.
They would need to give up at least 4, 35 and 79As much as I hate this scenario, if the Colts are going to end up with Stroud anyway, I would prefer the Texans to trade #2 to the Colts for #4 and #79 3rd round pick. At least we get something out of it. Either Anderson or Wilson will be there at 4.
49ers first pick in this draft is at the bottom of the 3rd round - #99.
If the Texans cannot get Bryce Young and are unsure of the rest, then offering a higher draft pick may appeal very much to the 49ers.
Texans target would be Trey Lance and the offer would be #33.
If they are leaning that way, the time to do it would be now for maximum value to the 49ers franchise.
It would suddenly raise the excitement level in the San Francisco fan base and that is a good thing for their franchise.
TL would be preferable to anyone not named Bryce Young in this draft and I think Texans FO would be loathe to give up #2 and #12.
I believe Texans are very much in the hunt for a viable option at the QB position and we will see one with strong potential brought into Kirby as our starter.
Cal seems very keen and tuned in to this so I imagine something is going to happen to bring a high potential guy in here.
This week up to and including the draft is going to be worth keeping an eye on.
Meh, they obviously did their homework on him prior to giving up 3 firsts to net him.If Trey Lance was worth anything he'd be starting for the 49ers next season or they would continue to be working on developing him. The team that falls for the Trey Lance "banana in the tailpipe" trick deserves exactly what they get.
Meh, they obviously did their homework on him prior to giving up 3 firsts to net him.
49ers have not committed to who is their starter due to injuries to both TL and BP - saying that TL will have a chance to prove himself and I imagine he is working hard to do so.

Figures range from 88 to 93.What did he do on his S2?That's what really matters here!
If they took Anderson at 2, would you take another edge at 12?VanNess or Murphy at #12.
No, way too many holesIf they took Anderson at 2, would you take another edge at 12?
No. Anderson is an Edge/LB and Van Ness is a DE.If they took Anderson at 2, would you take another edge at 12?
So, if they took Anderson at 2 you would not take a DE at 12. What would you look for? CB? TE?No. Anderson is an Edge/LB and Van Ness is a DE.
Let's see, we currently have Greenard, Harris, Hughs, Odeleye, Rivers and Winovich at DE.
So, can we upgrade at the DE position? I hadn't looked at who we still had on the team, until just now.
Draft profile on VanNess says he can play inside or outside. I take this to mean he could move over into the DT position, as well.
I'm a big believer in Lance's draft profiles. Here is his ranking at edge/DENo. Anderson is an Edge/LB and Van Ness is a DE.

The original question was, would I take another edge rusher at 12 if I took Anderson at 2. I responded no, but I would take Van Ness who is a DE. Edge and DE are two different positions in my opinion. So, if they took Anderson at 2 you would not take a DE at 12. What would you look for? CB? TE?

Therein lies the difference in opinion. 4-3DE's are edge players if you are expecting a pass rush from them. 3-4 DE's not so muchEdge and DE are two different positions in my opinion.
Right. Edge just means he’s a pass rusher. 4-3 DE or 3-4 rush LBTherein lies the difference in opinion. 4-3DE's are edge players if you are expecting a pass rush from them. 3-4 DE's not so much
Anderson is a "tweener". His ideal position is a 34 outside LB. In a 43, I would not play him at DE, especially not on first or second downs. He'll be a non factor in games where he is lined up against elite OTs. He's either a SAM or WILL linebacker. In a 43, he could move up to the line as a 5th edge rusher, and either rush with his hand down or rush upright.Therein lies the difference in opinion. 4-3DE's are edge players if you are expecting a pass rush from them. 3-4 DE's not so much

Which is why I wouldn't mind drafting Anderson and VanNess and putting them both on the field. Also teams play in their base defense about a quarter of the time. The other 75% are putting your best players in the best positions to make plays.
If passing efficiency is your thing...

I'd love to have a Micah Parsons for the Texans. Well worth 1.2 imoI’d play him just like Micah Parsons!
