I wouldn't be shocked if Green gets paid. That might be a tough buy. Not a Fleener fan at all. I think he's a pure product of playing with Luck in college/pro. There's a reason Indy chose Allen even though he's always injured.

If Texans cut Hoyer they would be around $43M in cap space so...

Osweiler - $17M
Miller - $6.5M
Brooks - $8.5M
Total - $32M

Subtract rookie pool from that and it gives them about $5-6M to throw at Green (which is probably the floor of what he will get offered).

EDIT: Obviously there will be more room to work with here as the base salary will be lower in the 1st year of contract. Didn't bother working that in though because there's no way to know how any deal is going to be structured.

We also have to address backup LT, which we had Clark playing at the end of last year. You can go ahead and give 2-4 million to that cause.

I'd love to see what you've highlighted here but if we take out our most unlikely signing, Osweiler, I would like to see us go after Alex Mack. Ben Jones has signed with the Titans and he would not only plug that hole but would be an upgrade.

Why? We just re-signed Clark. It's ot unusual to only have 3 where 1 can play swing. We did that several times under Kubiak.

I didn't realize that we had resigned Clark. Still, those numbers need to be reflected in the discussion. Earlier in the week, I pointed out that the majority of the 43M could be used on just a handful of guys quickly and I was given some strangely odd pause to that, but it's clearly a high possibility.

Who is replacing Ben Jones now that he's with the Titans?
Last years undrafted rookie center Greg Mancz is a prospect but would he be ready to play this Fall since he was IRed last year ? Can the X-man be moved to center ?
What's the latest on Brandon Brooks ? If we lose him in free agency too then we've got real issues on the OLine. And with those issues it will be harder to attract Brock to play in Houston and also RB Lamar Miller. This is not a positive start for the Texans' FA !

Dolphins have apparently voided Maxwell/Alonso deal with Eagles because of concerns about Maxwell's shoulder. They also rescinded the transition tag from Olivier Vernon.

Those moved take them from about $10M in cap space to about $33M. They should have room to make a move on Miller now if they really want him back.

Still a good chance that Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso land with Dolphins, I'm told. But a lot of moving pieces (comp, contract) involved.

Looks like the deal is still on but the Eagles will get less back in return.

The teams will swap 1st round picks so PHI moves from #13 to #8. That's it.

Eagles win that trade IMO. Getting rid of one of the worst contracts in the league and moving into the top 10 in return is a fleecing.

I really don't understand what Miami is doing. They're letting their own FA's (Vernon & Miller) walk while going all in on other team's cast offs.

Miami has been making poor moves for years. They haven't made the playoffs since the 2008 season, before that the 2001 season.

Giants make Janoris Jenkins the 2nd highest paid CB in the league (only Revis is higher) with a 5 yr / $62.5M deal with $29M guaranteed.

And this is why it's smart to sit out day one of FA.

Contact guys, negotiate with them, don't overpay.

Eagles dump bad contracts in DeMarco Murray and Byron Maxwell and then immediately go out and sign FS Rodney McLeod to a 5 year / $37M deal, making him the 6th highest paid Safety in the league.

I would prefer Kap and a high pick over over paying Osweiler.

I read this often & that's your opinion but not your money so why care?

Here's one small detail that if Broncos took Osweiler in 1st instead of 2nd they would still hold his 5th year option. I'm saying this because if they don't get Brock then they need to spend a 1st on one @ 22, regardless if they can't trade up because it may take four years to know exactly what you got & another year to set up salary room to keep him as your franchise QB.

You might not get that high pick because it might be in SF possession. They want high draft capital for Kap.

I'd prefer Osweiler at $16M and keep our picks to plug holes and build up supporting cast than Kap at $19M and have to give up multiple picks and then just plug holes with remaining picks.

Did you not read the breakdown of Kap's injuries by CnD?Gimme Os in FA, Cook or Lynch in the draft and Savage. I would be very happy with those three on the roster. Let the best QB win!

Well the guys I was hoping for all falling. Was really pulling for Benjamin. He is going to SD. Alex Mack is going to Atlanta. I have no idea what we do at C now. I felt confident that Jones was resigning here.

I am high on Green/Fleener at TE but I doubt we get either one.

I'm good with Lamar Miller, but I would like to draft a good young prospect to spell him. I don't think Miller is a special player on the order of Foster, but he is very solid and has been durable. He can also be a 3 down "complete" back and he has some wheels. I like it - if they can pull it off.

I would much prefer Brock Os over Kap. Brock has much more upside albeit far less experience and he is more of an X factor. I don't view either as a top ten QB, but they would both be significant upgrades on the hot mess we had last year.

In either case, I think the Texans would be wise to have a legit prospect in the bullpen. Maybe they feel we have that guy now, but I'd still like to draft a guy if not in the 1st, then the 2nd and I hope it's Hack from PS. He's worked with BOB before who got the best out of him. Let him sit and develop instead of throwing him to the wolves and see what you have in a couple of years with Brock/Kap and if Hack improves and the incumbent is only so-so, he's ready to go and you make him the starter.

I respect doc alot but he tends to lean to the dark side on his injury prognosis.

Matt Forte to the Jets.

That leaves Lamar Miller and Arian Foster as the top two backs available. Hopefully we can close on Miller because, with the market shrinking, teams like Dallas and Miami may be more willing to match our offer.
