This dude is proving his worth getting Diggs and Mixon this offseason especially because he didn’t overpay for Saquon Barkley.
 
So why is Rick Smith called Slick Rick? Is he of questionable character? Is he gay? He was cheating??? His wife’s death was interesting to me….

He pulled one over on Kubiak when he still got to keep his job despite his ineptness. Yes, he had the reputation of chasing tail around the Texans front office. He was one of many that had that reputation around the front office. There were lawsuits concerning this.

I'm just glad that now Texans fans get to see what it looks like when a GM (Caserio) is good at their job.

He didn't kill her, but he also didn't get her the best care possible. I'm going to chalk this up to, he ain't too bright.

Not true man, I dont hate anybody, When somebody leads an org and the org is mediocre at best then that falls on whoever is leading the org.

I do think like Derrick that Smith is a phony who spent far too much time chasing tail rather than doing his job. This explains why he wasn't very good at his job. Good thing is that the Texans/fans dont have to worry about this kind of crap anymore now that Caserio is down on Kirby. Caserio has a single minded purpose and that purpose is to bring a Lombardi to Kirby. It's about time that this is happening, it took over 2 decades and the death/stroke of the owners to get here. This isn't just on RS either it also includes the ineptness that was Casserly and BOB the GM.

Surely you can see the difference between the way Caserio operates and how BOB/RS/Casserly used to operate.

The crazy part is people don’t want to give Caserio credit. You know - because the Texans didn’t have success prior with Culley or Lovie.

They ignore the fact that there was a roster for a rookie HC, a rookie OC, and a rookie QB to work with and win with in the playoffs their first year.

And I personally, and others have the Texans highly capable of competing with the Chiefs in the playoffs.

Yeah - sure. Caserio did nothing. He just gets coffee.

Casserio SB’s best move this off-season may be Nico’s extension. A number of you fine folks wanted Nick to wait until Nico proved last year wasn’t a fluke. He had the foresight to handle that business this spring and lock him up for three additional years at a reasonable cost based on other big time receivers.

The most important part of the matter was he had to clean up that trash created by Cal, O’Brien, Easterby and Watson.

And he did the best job a person possibly could do considering the mess he was left to cleanup.

It was always going to take a couple of yrs to acquire talent and cleanup the cap. To think certain posters were complaining about trading up in the 3rd rd to pick Nico.
 
The thing I appreciate most about Caserio is that he is a complete professional at his job. I think Lucky was the one that mentioned it before, but he never devalues the product (player/pick). He is all about football and never goes beyond that into drama territory. Even during our darkest times with Easterby, nothing ever came from Caserior outside of pure business. No comparing star players to Aaron Hernandez, no fining/denouncing the players to make us look desperate, actually having a draft plan beyond the first and second round. It's honestly refreshing and why I think agents and players are more than comfortable dealing with us. I feel Meco is from that camp of professionalism as well.

That's really the thing. The mess he was left with was incredible. Very little draft capital a bad unbalanced roster and almost zero cap flexibility.

To turn it around this fast is basically unheard of. There's factors of luck involved for sure - CJ Stroud and Demeco are lucky gets and the biggest reasons for the turnaround but there's many things like landing and developing Nico that are a big credit to Caserio.

There's also the factor of being able to be a seamless fit to acquire a top coach like Demeco and create a very seamless dynamic for player scouting, drafting, developing, signing, etc. We should all know how rare it is to find that perfect dynamic between head coach and GM considering what we've had to witness through the years.

Caserio is very professional and that helped changed the face of the franchise from the players perspective.

Look at the sweetheart deals he gave Mark Ingram and Stefon Diggs. If I was a player I would be ant to play for a GM like that.

We are in the midst of a trifecta-

A top tier GM. A top tier QB. A top tier HC.

And an owner that learned to stay the f*ck out of the way.

(Ok. That is actually 4 and not 3 but trifecta sounds more smarter.)
