What's going to really suck, is Kelly & Weaver will stay in their current positionsHere’s hoping that he plucks a REAL offensive line coach from somewhere. I believe our group can still be saved. I’m anxious now. Who will he pick for the HC gig? Who will be our new DC? I need answers!

Looks like Nick wanted control of personnel. So maybe he got itWhen a new coach is hired I definitely hope he will hire his own personal.
He is not going to oust Easterby - they are buds. Will be hilarious if his first act as GM is to solidify his role in Houston by ousting Easterby immediately.

If I were Cal unless we hire a retread, I'd caution my first time HC against bringing in his own staff. When a new coach is hired I definitely hope he will hire his own personal.
I have a feeling not only will he oust Easterby, but he will also hire a HC not of the Belicheck tree.He is not going to oust Easterby - they are buds.
Glad OB is gone. If he had somehow managed to stay I wonder what Easterby would do with him?
We should all be in "hide and watch" mode. The Texans will do what they will do and all we can do is wait and see how things play out. As TK pointed out, Caserio has been their choice for a couple of years now. I do admit that the Easterby angle has a soap opera feel to it. If this were the Dallas Cowboys, I'd be betting he shot JR.I don't know what to think.

In Texans G.M. hire, Jack Easterby wins big
Reactions are trickling in following the news that the Texans will make Patriots V.P. of player personnel Nick Caserio the team's next General Manager.profootballtalk.nbcsports.com
Well he can't do any worst than O.B so I'm ok with it......for now
I agree with the bolded, but Cal fired OB just shy of two years after Bob McNair passed away. The Chargers aren't known for firing a HC after 2 years, btw.If I were Cal unless we hire a retread, I'd caution my first time HC against bringing in his own staff.
I'd try to talk him into starting with the group we have now & work on building his team in the future.
If he suggests a Matt Patricia or an ex HC, or a coordinator currently out of work, that's fine, let's go get him.
But I don't want my first time HC managing a first time OC & DC managing a first time WR/LB//DB/ST coach...
We're not the Browns/Lions/Chargers who will fire a HC in two years.
I hope he bites the bullet and endures a painful 2021 with an eye on the future and doesn't try to mortgage the future trying for quick fixes.Caserio has a tough Job ahead of him, wish the man well. BOB took a massive dump in his house and he needs to clean it up.
LOL, true that.We should all be in "hide and watch" mode. The Texans will do what they will do and all we can do is wait and see how things play out. I'm not to thrilled about this hire for the reason that the Patriots are fairly average in the talent evaluation department when NC was in charge.
Brady was before his time.
And the Pats have had their own hits and misses since then.
Players that went on to other teams, overall, don't do as well.
What NC has is a lot of experience all-around, and maybe that's what the Texans need.
The way I think, the Texans still need a good talent evaluator.
This has always been the rub with the Pats: who made the personnel calls other than BB? We don't know. What I infer from the Pats is that BB is much better at coaching up the talent that he has and scheming to their strengths than he (or whomever) is at drafting exceptionally talented players.I'm not to thrilled about this hire for the reason that the Patriots are fairly average in the talent evaluation department when NC was in charge.

To your point on talent acquisition. Over the past seven years, Patriots have drafted ONE Pro Bowler and that was a punter.I'm not to thrilled about this hire for the reason that the Patriots are fairly average in the talent evaluation department when NC was in charge.

If they want him in that role, all they have to do is make the money right. Big $$$$ is amazingly effective at soothing bruised egos.Think Dorsey will take an advisory job if he cant get a GM gig?
Wonder what BOB is thinking right now?
BOB: 18 months too late. If that damn Jack didn't tamper, he would have been the GM and I would still have a job.Wonder what BOB is thinking right now?
According to Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline,
there is likely only one scenario that would lead to McDaniels becoming head coach for an NFL team in 2021. It would take that organization hiring Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio as its general manager.
Didn't the Eagles hire him for that role ?Think Dorsey will take an advisory job if he cant get a GM gig?
I think that card is always in play in this scenario.
NBC/SI/PFT didn't lay a glove on Easterby.
Most of the players need to be worrying about which teams need depth at their respective positions. The rest should be hoping Caserio hits a grand slam with the HC he chooses.TEXANS be like... "Hold my beer and watch this!".
This team has ZERO self awareness.. the last thing anyone wanted was another NE hire. I wonder what the players are thinking?
It's easy to coach the Varsity team when you're playing JV teams.Being OC at Alabama has recovered the image of a couple of guys now.
