Texans random thought of the day

Aw.. shucks.. 🥰

Everything is bigger in Texas, including the hearts of perhaps the NFL's most rising franchise entering 2024. The Houston Texans are ready to stake their claim...

I was asked what repeated reported "knee injury" he had that made him lose the 2022 season. It was in fact an ACL rupture.....................an injury that does not have the same significant negative implications in a RB as opposed to a WR.

Biggest dumbass clip I’ve EVER read. So Houston is one of the nicest… at #22? . Bottom third. And they are just outside of the top ten at #22? That’s over 100% out of the top ten.

Looking at the ranking it is the rudest fans and Houston has the 22nd rudest fans.
Is that what they were comparing us too? My bad so we are just out of the top ten. Wonder what a rude fan then entails? Rude to other fans? Visiting fans? I really don’t care as long as they don’t go East Coast and throw bottles or cheesesteaks.

Went to Cleveland bout 7 yrs ago…. Never again. That is the most miserable group of people ever. Miserable, rude and obnoxious

Well that article/survey is rude in itself. :whistles:
How about a little more info on the sources and technique of this so called nice rude rating survey? js
Go Texans and Let's Go Texans Fans!!!!

Good move by Mills. He's not starting in this league and backup QB is the best job in the NFL.

Good move by Mills. Next year when Slowic leaves, or whenever, Mills can follow and Slowic will have his starter.

I hope Mills is the Texans version of Jim Sorgi. (The back up QB to Peyton Manning who never saw the field except in blow outs and meaningless end of season games.)

Another good article on espn.com football section:

“Why The NFL Has A Backup QB Crisis, and What’s Next”

After reading this article, it makes a whole lot of sense as to why Caserio got QB2, Davis Mills buttoned up for another season (2025). But, as the article mentions, having a solid veteran in the QB3 slot would be a good move for most teams.

Kedon Slovis is a solid developmental PSQB who should be in no position to find himself in similar shoes as Davis did in year one. Keep Slovis on the PS exclusively and let Case Keenum do the one on one developmental work with him, since Johnson would be working with the rostered QB’s and really wouldn’t have the time to properly handle the development of Slovis. This would be a plus for the Texans and Keenum, since he’s still on the roster and could cut his coaching teeth in this situation.

As for a true QB3, I wouldn’t mind seeing Caserio take a look at CJ Beathard who has 3 seasons in the 49’ers system and was on their roster while Ryans and Slowick were on the staff. He’s going to be 31 years old this season and was just released by the Jags. He could be a very reasonably priced veteran QB3 who comes with some knowledge of this offense.

I might be even more intrigued if Caserio checked with Ryan Tannehill to see if he’d have any interest in joining the Texans for a season as QB3. My guess, Tannehill would probably want more money than the Texans would be willing to pay, and could have an issue holding a clipboard behind Mills. At 36 years of age….he might be happy that someone is calling b/c he’s not exactly Joe Flacco. If he was willing to accept the role and a fair value contract, then signing him could be a good move by Caserio.

Texans are in the window now, so it’s not horrible to prepare for the worst and hope that day never comes.

I agree with that, but he might get the team to throw a 5th to the Texans for Mills. A guy who knows the offense and is OK being a mentor to a young QB.
Agreed on possible scenario. But makes the extension a head scratcher unless trying to play chess knowing Slowick is probably gone after this year?

I haven't seen the contract, but does it contain guaranteed $$$? If it does, it's not enough to really keep the Texans from making a deal if it's there. Either way, the Texans will be OK,

Yeah, I want to see the contract but $5 million seems like an honest attempt at market value. "Bridge to Starter" type backup QB's make around $10 million on average.

No signing bonus info yet but the base and cap for 2024 remains same.. for now. I would guess that a signing bonus would be a part of the new 5 million as it would help to spread the cap over 24 and 2025.

Jerrod Johnson is being honored before the start of the regular season. Johnson, who enters his second year as the Houston Texans quarterbacks coach, will have...

Looks like an offsides penalty given by referees wearing the new woke NFL referee uniforms.
K, I looked at the new woke referee rules. The call on the field is…We swear to the NFL Rules Committee, that there was an offsides infraction, on the team to our right, and screw the boo birds.

"It's been a nice road," Diggs said. "I look at him as family, not just my quarterback. I'm rocking with him through thick and thin. I always tell him I am with you when you're right, I'm with you when you're wrong."

"It has improved drastically. I think me and him already had a natural connection on the field and we just built it and built it and built it," Stroud said this week. "I think you have seen it on the field, just rep, after rep, after rep. Just me and him having a conversation, just me and him talking about things we like, things we don't like and just being transparent. It is going to continue to grow, and it is going to be a special connection."
