Will the Texans get an “H-Town Blue” uniform come 2024?

I'm pretty sure Amy could care less what fans in Houston think since they ran her father out of town. This stuff doesn't matter to me at all.

Apparently she does, she’s kicking up a stink b/c Houston sports teams are using color schemes similar to the Oilers and putting Houston on them.

it’s more likely the NFL doesn’t give a rats ass about it but ol’ Rodger has to do/say something about it on behalf of the Titans b/c Amy was likely in his ear bitchin’ about it. I can see Goodell’s face when he got the phone call from Titans brass…….

Probably was like “really?”

LOL

It's part of the Adams family revenge on the city that rejected them.

So the same year the Tits decide to wear Oiler duds and various Houston teams do all this, the Texans contemplate a uniform change.

I'm not a big fan of conspiracy theories, but this all smells like one to me.
What’s the conspiracy? Serious question, I really want to know what you’re talking about. I consider myself somewhat of a conspiracy theorist.

View attachment 12544Seems like more Houston teams are jumping in the H-Town Blue train. The COOGS just unveiled their new unis and they look clean! With that said, would the league even allow the Texans to do something like this? And, before the sensitive bunch gets all worked up, we all know the Titans own the Oiler rights, no one is arguing that. I just find it odd that with the Oilers not being an active franchise/team that the NFL would deny Houston something like this.

UoH is being sued by the NFL for the new uniforms that resemble the Oilers. I don’t know if the NFL wants cash or for them to stop wearing them only. Tennessee owns the rights to the colors and Oilers logo, so unlikely that Tennessee will allow them to get close to the Oilers colors with out taking them to court. Better odds go with something that goes with the red helmets.

I can't find anywhere where an actual lawsuit has been filed. The NFL did send a cease and desist letter to the U of H, of which the U of H responded by saying they wouldn't wear the uniforms again without asking first. In any case, it's petty bullshit from the NFL. I think the NFL has larger problems it should be attending to than some school or university copying a uniform.

Funny….there’s NFL teams using the same color combinations as well as CFB teams using the same color combinations of other schools and NFL teams. I don’t see any other teams or schools losing their shite. The Adams Family need to get over their own self importance. If I’m UH, I’d take their arses to court.

Likely dropped any case seeing UoH said they were going to ask to wear them. Allowing the NFL to basically get its way

You genuinely think a moderately sized public university has the money (or will to wager said money) to fund a legal battle against an nfl team backed by the nfl itself at the risk of continuously escalating legal fees.. over an alternate uniform, that they aren't even marketing?

Hayden Fry asked permission in 1979 to model the Hawkeye's uniforms after the Steelers. Steelers ok'd it.

Wonder what the answer from the Titans would have been if UH had asked permission? Might have even gotten it if they had made it about honoring old Bud. We’ll never know now and who really cares. It’s long past time the Texans got busy making their own legacy. Columbia Blue can suck it. It’s time to start pushing Steel Blue. UH should ask if they can wear a Texans Battle Red variant next

That's fine but they nearly looked identical in the 50's as well.

Point is, there's 100's and 100's of colleges and pro sports too for that matter, and there's only so many color combos. You can't own a f****** color or a color combo. If the Coogs had an oil derrick on their helmet or the word Oilers anywhere on their unis, then I get it. But they didn't. They had the word Houston, which you also can't own. And I don't recall the Oilers ever having the word Houston on their jerseys. They didn't even have the word Oilers on it.

So f*** Amy Adams Skank for going after a university over their damn uniforms.

When extremely rich people donate large sums of money to relief funds after disasters it’s nice. I don’t think it solely means they’re great people necessarily or love the people or place they donated to.
Whatever her reasons were doesn't matter to me. I'm just glad she donated the money.

Wait Houston ran Bud Adams out of town? Apparently you don’t remember what happened?

I remember quite well.

He tried to hold the city hostage when the bonds on the Astrodome renovations hadn't even been paid off.

The taxpayers told him to stick it where the sun dont shine and take your team and get the bleep out.

In reality there was never a bond election for the tax payers to weigh in on the matter of a new stadium. Although Bob Lanier had a pretty good idea of the taxpayers would not be crazy about the idea.

No Bud Adams left. He wasn’t run out of town. Noone forced him out. He wanted a brand new stadium at taxpayer’s expense and was determined to get one from whomever will buy him one.

The NFL was against him leaving and urged him to give it more time. He could have played in the Astrdome a few more years and let the political climate cool down a bit.

Although I’m sure both sides feel they were wronged. He felt the city should have given him whatever he wanted.

Make no mistake it was Bud Adam’s ego and greed that ran him out of town. Not the city or the taxpayers.

Oh of course. I am too. I just don’t see any connection whatsoever between that act and whatever asshattery the latest “Adams” is up to. I do think “Hannah” should jump at the opportunity for the Texans to be the good guys in this play. Hell if I was Cal I’d invite them to wear the Texans colors. Help pay for them even!

The Bud/Drayton “dynamic” factored a lot more into it than most people understand. Being Drayton’s tenant was unbearable to Bud. He got squat for parking or concessions and both of them wanted a new taxpayer funded venue. One had to make the push first and the one who did was bound to be told no. That’s why Drayton was all about how great the Astrodome was until Bud was standing on the landmine. Then once he was gone and the city knew what would happen suddenly the Astros couldn’t stay in that old stadium any longer. Not without and NFL team helping to foot the bill. Drayton made money off of Bud. Bud didn’t make a thing off of Drayton. That’s why Bud’s “Downtown Bud Dome” was designed to host the Rockets too. So he could do to Les Alexander what Drayton Mclane had been doing to him for years.

Makes sense. Drayton capitalized on the potential threat/fear of Houston losing its baseball team too after the Oilers left in 1996….Minute Maid opened just 4 years later in 2000.

Although I do believe there was a little game of chicken going on with Houston politicians/fans. I just don’t think that fans and politicians alike actually believed Adam’s would leave and he called their bluff. Once it became official, Houston politicians went into spin mode.

As for this oiler colors and logo ****, Adam’s-strunk is being petty and all it is is her trying to keep a lock on the few Houston Oiler fans that became Titans that still reside in Houston…although I have my reservations if those fans even give a crap about this nonsense.

The Texans just need to start winning so that that whole Oiler stuff can become irrelevant to this city. And because the bar is so low, All it’s going to take is for the Texans to just make or win 1 SB…or perhaps Just make 2-3 AFCCCG’s in like 4-5 years.
You do that, we’ve all but equaled that Oilers history lol…without the stench of 35-3 that is.

I can never remember the guys name but there was also an Oilers executive who was involved in the negotiations who had ties to Nashville and was supposedly pushing that as the best choice from the start. He was a big part of the Oilers and Nashville working out that exclusive negotiating deal that basically made it impossible for Houston to counter anything while the team and Nashville were making the deal.

Bud had previously threatened to relocate the team to Jacksonville in order to get the renovations you mentioned.
Then turned around and tried to hold the city hostage again for a new stadium.
Nobody ran that greedy bastard out of town. That was all Bud

Lanier told him they weren't going to build him a new stadium that he wanted so badly. After Buffalo and Kansas City most fans like myself were dont let the door hit you where the sun dont shine.

Agreed

But the stench of 51-7 still exists to this day.

Perfect Storm. Oilers were rebuilding losers, Bud was going back to the well too soon, Lanier told him no and offered to entertain support for an open air stadium by the Astrodome but that didn’t solve Bud’s problem with Drayton being his landlord. The Rockets weren’t stupid enough to become Bud’s new downtown tenants and Nashville had their ducks in a row and locked him up in an exclusive negotiating rights deal in a window that left the Oilers no time to pivot back to Houston. Before Bud knew what hit him he was the proud owner of the NFL team in Tennessee

Agreed

All those various stenches linger. They performed so badly the fans grew ashamed of them. This town is not a particularly forgiving bunch but if you leave it all on the field we’ll still love you. See the post AFCCG rallies in the dome in 78-79 for all the proof anyone needs. We loved those overmatched Oiler teams. Pardee’s Oilers were soft underachievers who set us up for getting the football pulled away again and again. After a while you felt like a fool for believing in them at all.

The Texans must avoid ever becoming like that. It’s the sports fans kiss of death.

type in “Houston 35-3” and the 1st hit after the ads is the wiki page titled “the comeback”. No such thing for 51-7..it’s not even on the map…& probably won’t ever be mentioned again unless Houston & KC match up in the playoffs again. IOW’s, 51-7 is your run-of-the-mill local football fan’s playoff disappointment & every team has those.

So while you are correct, that 35-3 stench was a 2nd 1/2 collapse that had SB implications and is remember by everyone not only b/c it was the largest comeback ever, but b/c of the direction of the 2 franchises afterwards. Houston pretty much went in the toilet after and the Bills went on to 2 more SB appearances.

51-7 is really only remembered here by fans b/c of the despair……& by KC fans b/c it turned out to be the arrival of the game’s premier qb today.

Houston got to the playoffs again after35-3 the next yr. The Texans have sucked from the time 51-7. But nationally I agree with you.

I felt like this after 51-7 too. It was like bad old memories coming back again. I wanted them to leave BOB and Derrick in Kansas City. It was time to clean house, not give BOB more power and Derrick an extension. I said so at the time.
