Texans random thought of the day

He said the determining factor will be how they’re performing during that particular series. So if Stroud have a really good 1st series. Then we might see Mills the very next series.
One series seldom proves anything..........especially in preseason..........and especially when Bellichick has said he will be mostly playing players with the least experience.

I think you would prefer the fight song the Texans rolled out in the 2003 preseason:

Houston Texans - Red, White and Blue
Houston Texans - We cheer for you
Houston Texans - Living the dream
We are Texas' Team
T-E-X-A-N-S
Texans, Texans, Texans!

I didn't want to derail the Training Camp thread. . .

"They" say the internet never forgets, but I cannot find a copy of this song anywhere on the web.

I think I saved a copy of it somewhere. I wanted to hear it for the laughs, because it was so freakin' bad. :heh:

I can't find it but I did find this
Texans owner Bob McNair, along with wife Janice, have wanted the team to have a Redskins-style fight song since the NFL awarded him the franchise. The team held a contest and the winning song, composed by Lamar Burkhalter and Gabe Musella, was recorded by musicians from suburban Spring High School.

Yep, this is the one that I remember.

We might never find a copy after this article:

Texans rethink new fight song after fan revolt
I have found several links to that so.....ng...........all are "DeaD." It appears that the song has been "scrubbed" from all sources..............due to the fear that it would present life-long unbearable embarrassment to the song writers and the band.

The Texans will not be facing Pro Bowl CB Marion Humphrey week 1. He just sustained what was called "an undisclosed injury" during a joint practice..He is now being evaluated, but what is unusual, the initial word was that he is not looking at a surgery..............but "a medical procedure." A blood clot? Severe concussion? An Arrhythmia? No. Now I'm hearing the injury is a foot problem...................which will require surgery. If this turns out to be the case, no type of foot surgery will allow him to play against the Texans in week 1.

This should tell you that Humphrey is not looking at returning for a good while. I have now found out that Humphrey has been dealing with a foot issue for several weeks before this acute injury that has lead to his surgery.

Are we going to bring up the old Indian burial ground under the Astrodome stuff now? All NFL football in Houston is cursed. Always has been.

Notice I didn't mention AFL football, because JB would have scolded me on that one.
I may have Indian burial grounds under my property? Odd things often happen here. First I’ve got a cliff on my property that looks out over a dry rocky creek bed. Would have been constant water in the centuries past. I’ve collected many points, tools, scrapers etc below the cliff in what must have been a prime hunting site. I have a poor quality flint site also that has been worked. I have a Hispanic friend and his wife over frequently and she is definitely a calm clairvoyant and a nurse administrator with a serious demeanor. She often sees moving images in my home and just says “there they are again”. She says she always sees them moving around in my home. I ask if they want to kill me 😨 but she says no, they apparently like you. So the Dome doesn’t have to be cursed. We do have a village site a couple of miles up the canyon that is under study. I think the inhabitants of the area were Tonkawas. I daily give blessings to these ancestors on my walks and promise to care for this land and it’s animal and plant life. That is my 100% object in life. I’ve seen and experiended enough here to trust my feelings to the core of my heart.

Did you find any classic Clovis points?

DW4's first season where we crushed the Titans 57-14 was pretty awesome.
That was a pretty awesome pasting on the Titans. The one Texans game of the past that always makes me smile is the 24-6 thumping at the Steelers. Only 47 yards of total offense was needed by the expansion team to beat the playoff bound team at their own stadium. Even better, it was the Steelers on the losing end of that embarrassing loss!

Last nights game was a spectacular NRG introduction of edge-rusher Will Anderson to Houston, but I still can't help but think we would have been wiser to not trade away everything we did for him and instead take another but lesser edge rusher in Aprils Draft like maybe the Jets Mcdougal or that big corn-fed white boy Van-somebody from Iowa who reminded everybody of another Big Ten D-lineman who use to play here for the Texans.
Th thing is we were competitive last week against an average looking Pats team but clearly totally outclassed yesterday vs
what's very likely a playoff caliber roster - I'm afraid we ae sill a long ways from being a potential prime-time team notwithstanding a ten-win 023 season by that pollyanna guy.

Absolutely agree with the Will Anderson take. Trading a high second and next years first was frankly pretty crazy and could get worse depending on how many games we win this year.

I very much would have preferred going with JSN with our second first or one of those second tier pass rushers in this class and then still have a high 2nd rounder to work with. Is what it is though I’m sure he’ll be a great player for us it’s just tough to live up to that haul of draft picks.

As for the roster comment I don’t think we’re gonna compete for the playoffs but also don’t think this game really moves any needles. It’s preseason the NFC champ eagles got wiped by the dolphins 48-10 last preseason, the Texans went undefeated last preseason, there’s just never really been any correlation.

Agreed, except they should've just drafted WA at 1-2 and held off on drafting a QB until 2024 for the reasons you listed.

All I keep thinking of on the Texans '23 Draft strategy is the proverbial remark about wanting one's cake while also consuming it immediately, you know no self constraint, no discipline: we've got a ways to go to complete this roster rebuild.
Yea I would have liked to have drafted CJ's teammate Buckeye teammate' 'cause we are hurting for a #1 WR.

But I doubt that the Eagles played all of their starters for an entire half against the 'Phins in last year PS ? But I think that half last night meant something between the teams because they scrimmaged each other twice during the week so they both had some "skin in the game".

Either drafted WA at #2 or CJ at #2, depending on how strongly they really feel about the QB ?
Thing about Anderson is he would appear to be about as safe a Draft pick as any team can make, while it's virtually always such a crap shoot on these QBs so unless an organization is really all-in then why risk it ?

I'm unaware of anyone thinking we were going to be a "primetime" team this season. The projections of a ten-win year is loosely based on a relatively weak schedule. By your own account the Texans were "competitive" against the Pats. Our last preseason game is against the Saints, another bottom half team and one we should be "competitive" with. If we are to win ten games, it is the Saints and the Pats which are the must wins, not teams like the Fins. I'd say the Texans have performed to expectation, so far.
