In and of itself, I don't think going after money via NIL is a bad decision. Going after that money and in turn giving up your senior year of high school, thinking way higher of yourself than others do, thinking you were going to be handed something you weren't, not being willing to compete and then tucking tail and going home? I think all of that is a bad decision which was all predicated on him being the first ever athlete to cash in on the NIL money. I think the money is what drove him and those giving him advice. No, I don't think that's wise at all.
Again, I don't blame him, think poorly of him, or wish him ill. Just the opposite. I feel bad for him losing out of his senior year of high school, moving across the country, not getting a shot to do what he thought he would and then going out the way he did. I hope what was truly at the root was him simply missing home and that he thrives in Texas. I like the Longhorns and would never wish them ill either.
That being said, he's a wait and see for me, not something to be considered a top end prospect.
He's done very little to be considered anything resembling an NFL QB at this point.
