You proved what stats are: Numbers that can be used to say anything.
How about
- 2nd QB taken
- in the top 10
- from Ohio State
- drafted before the #3 Overall who was drafted by the same team.
How's that list look?
Oh, so the bad QB mojo exits after the 10th pick filter. Except when it doesn't (Mahomes, Rivers, Griese, Namath). Let's add more filters. There has never been to date a QB taken 2nd within the top 10 that was a Libra born on a Wednesday that became a franchise QB.
Not until the 2023 draft, anyway.

I have a feeling they were waiting for Mahomes and got beaten to the punch - the knee jerk trade up for the next best is my only reasoning.
They may have even tried a trade for Mahomes but got nixed.

The lesson to be learned is the Texans should trade for a QB. The draft and free agency are not in their wheelhouse.
"Facts" like this are not predictive because they're based on nothing.
Bortles was the 1st QB taken in 2014. I would expect you to know all things Bortles.

Stroud has come to a better situation than Bortles.
Stroud may have some bumps in the road like most rookies (see Trevor Lawrence and Daniel Jones most recently) but I think he will be okay - maybe not top 5 but top ten.
Just need to keep building around him now.

The success or not of 2nd QB's taken is not a true pre-determinant in anything that may or may not happen in the future.
It's like saying that since the Texans have never taken a (name your position) in the first round, they never will.
You know, the Bengals haven't beaten the Steelers on the road since they started cutting their grass horizontally.

She’s been working with an NFL Team since 2009. Sounds like football people to me. Who cares where she got her undergrad.
