Sexual Assault Suits Against Watson

Browns' Deshaun Watson will be deposed in sexual misconduct lawsuit

Watson will now have to appear in Harris County District Court in Houston April 10 to provide an oral deposition about the most recent case filed against him.

In a motion filed by attorney Anissa Nguyen, Watson is asked to provide records of communication between him and the plaintiff.

The motion seeks "Cell phone records reflecting all telephone calls Defendant made to Plaintiff in December 2020 and January 2021, and Cell phone records reflecting all text messages Defendant sent to Plaintiff in December 2020 and January 2021."

Watson will also be required to produce correspondence between him and a third party from December 2020 to December 2021 "regarding or relating to Defendant's meeting with the Plaintiff" on Dec. 18, 2020 at the Houstonian, a hotel club and spa where the massage session in question allegedly occurred.

Watson and his representatives have consistently denied any wrongdoing since his arrival in Cleveland.

However, before a Browns preseason game in August, Watson offered a public apology.

"I want to say that I'm truly sorry to all of the women that I have impacted in this situation," he said, via ESPN.

"The decisions that I made in my life that put me in this position I would definitely like to have back, but I want to continue to move forward and grow and learn and show that I am a true person of character, and I am going to keep pushing forward."

Two grand juries previously declined to indict Watson on any criminal charges.

In addition to Watson's suspension and fine, he underwent an NFL-imposed treatment program.

Browns co-owner Dee Haslam answered questions about how Watson progressed in the program.

"I don't talk to his counselor because that's pretty private information," Haslam told reporters. "But he's diligent about the work he's doing. I know counseling works. My daughter's a family counselor, and she can tell you that it works. I feel confident he's in good hands, and I know he's working hard."

Deshaun Watson to be questioned under oath Monday in pending massage-related lawsuit
Posted by Mik

Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has settled most of the civil lawsuits filed against him for alleged sexual misconduct during massage-therapy sessions. Two remain.
In one of them, Watson will be questioned under oath on Monday, according to Tom Withers of the Associated Press.

Based on the phrasing and linking in the AP article, it appears the deposition will happen in the latest lawsuit filed against Watson. That case was filed in October 2022, by a lawyer other than Tony Buzbee.
Watson’s lawyer, Rusty Hardin, made an aggressive effort to secure dismissal of the case, calling it a “sham lawsuit” and possibly a “case of unrequited love.” If that’s the case in which Watson will be deposed on Monday, it clearly hasn’t been dismissed.

Which is no surprise. The legal system applies a very high bar to the early dismissal of a civil action. As long as the allegations made in the complaint initiating the lawsuit state a potential legal claim, if the factual allegations in it are regarded as true and accurate, the case proceeds.

Although the lawyer in the latest case said in October that there are more victims “who have yet to come forward,” no additional lawsuits have been filed. Assuming the filing of the first lawsuit on March 17, 2021 prompted Watson to terminate his habit of seeking massages from strangers on social media, the statute of limitations on additional lawsuits has expired.

While that technically doesn’t stop other cases from being filed, it gives Watson a strong defense, and a far easier path to dismissal other than calling the lawsuit a “sham” or blaming it on “unrequited love.”
Watson served an 11-game suspension to start the 2022 season, due to the allegedly serial acts of sexual misconduct during massages. The NFL has not closed the door on potential additional discipline for the lawsuit filed in October.

If the league eventually tries to do so, Watson and the NFL Players Association would fight the claims aggressively, arguing that the agreement that resulted in Watson’s suspension covers anything that happened before that agreement was reached.

In other words, Watson is not out of the woods yet.

I can just imagine Watson telling Kubiak that he doesn't like being scripted..........wants more control of the play calling and the offense..............and Kubiak's reaction to that..............

criminally perverted off the field & all that, but if he listened to O'Brien, which I think he did & became a better QB because of it, he'd have listened to Kubiak.

I'll disagree with that. O'Brien left some decent options up to the QB. Kubiak didn't. Even with Schaub, in the rare event that Schaub left the script, you could see Kubiak's fiery red face on the sideline going nose to nose with Schaub. Watson would probably do better in a highly structured/scripted offense like the one Kubiak ran, but it wouldn't end well between the two of them.

The point is Watson was willing to change his game to be a better QB. He tried to be that pocket passer O'Brien wanted.

The last season he played in Houston he was nothing like the QB that won at Clemson.

This will be my last post on the subject. I don't care for the guy & the last thing i want to do is defend him.

But to act like he can't play, or he's uncouchable... that's delusional.

All feedback I've received from my Browns contacts have pointed out that Watson was unhappy with the offense he was made to participate in. Despite the published reports that Watson and Stefanski have a compatible relationship, Watson has had significant disagreements on the direction of the offense. He not uncommonly resisted Stefanski's play calling last season. That has led to Watson going to his buddy Haslam for "more control of the offense this season."

That may well be the case. After the way Haslam rolled over for him I can see him getting the bighead.

That doesn't mean he didn't improve from the coaching he got under O'Brien or that he'd have had a hard time under Kubiak.

He wanted to get better when he came into the league. What he is now is something else.

Do you honestly think he won't be a top 10 passer next season?

I'm not expecting for him coming out this season and making the Browns a competitive team, as much as you obviously do. Let's just wait and let him prove himself instead of speculating.

Really? What are you thinking middle third? Bottom tier? Replacement level?

I don't know about making the Browns competitive. Don't put words in my mouth. The pervert has played well every year he's played except last season. He'll play well next season, just like Ray Lewis always played well, regardless.

It appears that you have difficulty in accepting an opposing opinion on Watson. So be it.

No. If it makes sense, it makes sense.

But saying he can't play this game at a high level simply doesn't make sense. My only criticism of him was that he didn't run the ball as often as he should, when the read was to take the ball & run.

But some of you guys act like he can't play because he's a POS. As if Roethlisberger couldn't play, or Ray Lewis, or Rae Curuthers, or Aaron Hernandez.

I hope he gets put in jail. But the kid can play.

You know Doc never ever liked Watson from the get go. Has always been very critical of his play on the field.

You’re right the perverted chump can quarterback at a high level. He was top 5 and that’s with very minimal weapons during that time.

Watson played under BOB in an offense that wasn't tailored to his skillset. Anyone watching football could see that. Under a the proper oc, he would've played even better. You act like Peyton played under the same offense as Schaub did, but he didn't. Because any coach worth his salt is going to design the play calling to his qb strong points which BOB didn't do and not one time did we hear complaints. In fact, Watson defended the Brady offense that only Brady could really run until the end. You can miss me with the complaints in Cleveland offense.

The NFL has been subpoenaed by the last attorney to produce documents.

******************************************

“All documents and communications including, but not limited to, emails, text messages, direct
messages, internal documents, reports, notes, summaries and disciplinary records, relating in any
way to Defendant Deshaun Watson,” the document filed by Attorney Anissah Nguyen on behalf of her client states: “All communications, including but not limited to emails, text messages, direct messages, notes, correspondence, interoffice memos, or other documents, that reflect or relate to communications between You (including Your owners, employees, independent contractors, or agents) and Deshaun Watson. All communications, including text messages, emails, direct messages, and correspondence between You (including Your owners, employees, independent contractors, or agents) and any governmental or law enforcement agency, relating to DeShaun Watson. All witness statements, including written statements, audio recordings, video recordings and/or transcripts, related to Defendant Deshaun Watson.”

There was another very in-depth detailed filing prior to the NFL subpoena which reveals and explains some very sneaky manipulative and illegal moves by Hardin and his firm such as in regards to fabricated Instagram messages, unethical, prohibited and illegal contacts/communications with the plaintiff. More will be posted.

It does not surprise me at all. His M.O. of a selfish diva was well established when he quit on the franchise that just gave him a massive extension four months earlier, after he cried, thanked God, and everyone else in the franchise (including thanking EASTERBY lmoa!!!!!!)

And that was before we all found out what a lying, perverted P.O.S. he was as a person.

I hope they give him all the power he demands, because that will all but guarantee a high draft pick in 2024 for the Texans.

Didn't the pervert lead the NFL in passing in BOB's offense?

Coach killer will best describe Derek, how long until he gets Stefanski fired should be the question?

Coaches get hired to get fired. How many OCs Big Ben ran off? You think Fox wanted to leave the Broncos? Just because you have some success doesn't mean the system set up the success. John Elway had success under Reeves, but the system wasn't set up to maximize his talent. He was just that talented.
