The Colts had a great OL and QB with Luck and it didn’t get them a Super Bowl.Speaking of trenches, have you ever seen a franchise with a great offensive line - fail ? I don't think I have ! We'll need to wait for all-star games, combine and pro day results, but I don't see much OLine help in this draft. The kid from Northwestern has hustle that reminds me of Quinn Meinertz out of Whitewater year before last, or Trevor Penning from last year. But he's got 32" arms and 6'4" .... would love to see him at guard for us, but he'll be long gone - because of the shortage. Like you said, Lovie is satisfied with willing bodies .... so we'll hurt the ones we love !
I think their first pick is playing in the Sugar bowlMy eyes will be glued to the Ohio Vs Georgia game because I believe the Texans' first pick in the 2023 will be playing in this game. And it's possible the Texans first two picks will be playing in this game.
After watching that game, you're probably right. That 38(?) yard TD pass in the corner of the endzone was the best pass I've seen in college football since watching this guy in Louisville.I think their first pick is playing in the Sugar bowl
That horrific injury in his first year totally derailed his careerI don't care what anyone says, I still wish the Texans would have drafted him. He had horrible luck with Minnesota.
I would have to consider who is the next best at each position I could get if I took the other. If I took Carter, who is the best edge that would probably be available at value? And if I took Anderson which DT?
Where is the value?
Yeah I'm just worried now with the Texans of DI taken high in the draft... Travis Johnson and Amobi Okoye. Have there been others?A lot more highly ranked Edge than DI. It looks like it's a deep draft for edge.

The Texans could easily pass on an edge rusher with their first pick and still get a very good prospect in the middle of the first round and even in the 2nd. Looks like a different story for interior linemen.
The Colts had a great OL and QB with Luck and it didn’t get them a Super Bowl.
Louis Nix (RIP) was a 3rd round pick, still pretty high to me. 2014, drafting first in the draft and that was a terrible draft for the Texans. 2015 was just as bad as 2014, 2016 was just as bad as 2015...and then we had Watson. The Texans should just paint the floor with draft pick names in a box, cut a chickens head off and whatever square the chicken dies on, that's their guy.Yeah I'm just worried now with the Texans of DI taken high in the draft... Travis Johnson and Amobi Okoye. Have there been others?
Carter at 1-2 and Horton in the 3rd would make me really happy.Gotta get the value and that may be DT and WR or may be DT and Edge. Texans have 10 other picks to address needs
What does winning 7 games with an injury prone qb like Jimmy G do for your team?Carter at 1-2 and Horton in the 3rd would make me really happy.
1-2.Jalen Carter
12. Quentin Johnston
33. Devon Achane
66. Steve Avila or Rickey Stromberg
75. Dylan Horton
90 (Cooks trade) Luke Musgrave
103. Max Duggan
Reset the C market by signing Bradbury and add a LB in FA and this team would look much better.
With this draft the team would look like this.
QB Vet FA/Mills/Duggan
RB's Pierce/Achane/Johnson
WR's Johnston/Collins/Metchie/Rodgers/Moore
TE's Musgrave/Toriano/Akins/Howard or Jordan
OT Tunsil/Howard/Heck
OG Green/Cann/Avila
C Bradbury/Avila
DE Hughes/O/Horton/Addison/Green
DT's Carter/Collins/Lopez/Hinish
LB's Harris/Cashman/FA Rashuan (SP?) Evans/Hansen/Wallow/Late rd pick
S Petrie/Owens/King/Late rd pick
CB Stingley/Nelson/Thomas/Smith/King
You cant convince me with solid, say Jimmy G type QB play that this team wouldn't win atleast 7 games, maybe more. Depth and speed abound. If y'all want a fast turn around this is the way to do it.
What does winning 7 games with an injury prone qb like Jimmy G do for your team?
I dunno but wasn't that from the start a big red flag about him - the injury/durability issue ?That horrific injury in his first year totally derailed his career
Question now is, will the new coach bring in a new system?Lining up a DL that looks like this would be awesome.
Rd.1 Carter
Rd.1 Johnston
Rd.1 after trading 2-32 and Cooks to move into rd. 1.
DE's O/Greenard/Hughes/Addison/Verse
DT's Collins/Carter/Hinish/Lopez/Green/Stallworth.
That's 11 on the DL with a lot of depth and playmakers.
What? Reset the Center market for Garrett Bradbury? The Vikings didn't even offer the guy the 5th year option. But you want to give him over $14 million AAV?Reset the C market by signing Bradbury
By continuity, you mean continue to suck? No thank you.Texans retain Pep Hamilton as Mills QB coach (continuity and shown improvement)

How many times do I have to fire you as GM of this forum?
If Cal hires Gannon then Reich/Zimmer will definitely bring in new systems. Same with Johnson and Ryans if he chooses to interview.Question now is, will the new coach bring in a new system?
I'm not seeing where the Vikes offered a big contract extension. And I'd be concerned with a vet suddenly getting "bigger and stronger" after one offseason. One thing I do know is Bradbury isn't resetting the market. He got bigger and stronger last offseason and has played really well for the Vikes this season. (You probably didn't know this) He's going to get paid.
They had a legit shot every year. You want to call that a failure? I’ll take that kind of failure over this sh!T show we’ve been stuck watching. The Colts had a great OL and QB with Luck and it didn’t get them a Super Bowl.
LVR #7? 7&38 and 2014 1st?next team up who fits his style/need and has the ammo (McCaffrey trade) is Carolina #9.
Brock Purdy has lost a game yet, correct? So why waste time on Jimmy when you can have Purdy? See how ridiculous that sounds? If you stack a team, yeah Jimmy can win some games, but you're the 1st one to say who is a contender and who is not. Let's say the Texans draft exactly like you laid out and sign who you want them to sign, they're still at a qb disadvantage in the AFC. I mean Carr has done more with less than Jimmy G and he can stay healthy also. At the end of the day, what are we really doing? When is the last time a team where Jimmy G was the starting QB finished below .500?
Fans want improvement, this will give them improvement. Do you think the Texans will win more games with Young/Stroud at QB next yr?
Health has always been Jimmy G's biggest issue. If Caserio has a mandate to win or you're gone, I could see Jimmy G being brought in.Brock Purdy has lost a game yet, correct? Just another day in another Caserio FUBAR.Wonder why Caserio asking price @ deadline for Cooks so high?
Houston wanted second and fourth-round picks in exchange for Cooks, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Teams were unwilling to part with the draft picks and also take on Cooks' fully guaranteed $18 million salary for 2023.Nov 3, 2022
My sense is telling me it will be 1 of 3, Anderson, Carter, or Texans Surprise. Right now I'm liking Texans Surprise.
Really? Dude threw for 100 yds and they went to the superbowl. Did you not see what Carr did after Gruden being fired and Ruggs killing someone being a drunk driver? Purdy has played as well a Jimmy GHealth has always been Jimmy G's biggest issue. If Caserio has a mandate to win or you're gone, I could see Jimmy G being brought in.
Has Carr done more with less? I don't remember seeing Carr playing in a SB, should have been 2 SB's if Tartt had picked off that duck that Stafford threw right to him
Will Purdy play as well in clutch situations in the playoffs?Really? Dude threw for 100 yds and they went to the superbowl. Did you not see what Carr did after Gruden being fired and Ruggs killing someone being a drunk driver? Purdy has played as well a Jimmy G

I hope he does, I really like Lil Shanny and the fact that they went for it with the McCaffery trade.
On another note, I watched some of Hyatt last night and I really like him. I think he's strong enough to get off of the line right now in the NFL and if he isn't he appears to have the body type to add strength if needed. There's no doubt he's got the speed/wiggle needed to be a difference maker. He can play outside. IMHO I would pick him at 1-12 over Johnston. Kudos to you, I can definitely see what you see in Hyatt. This guy has big play written all over him.
You want to make this team dangerous then draft
1. Hyatt
2. Achane
3. Avila/Van Prann/Stromberg
3. Kincaid
Draft the right young QB and this offense would be young and very dangerous. World class speed to go with a great pass catching TE. Kincaid reminds me of Daniels.
Fill in the DT/LB/S positions in FA.
Draft defense next yr.
Mods move this post if need be. Thanks
I'm of the opinion that if Culley and Kelly had remained the Texans would've won more games.By continuity, you mean continue to suck? No thank you.
Would that have been a good thing? 5 wins vs. 3?I'm of the opinion that if Culley and Kelly had remained the Texans would've won more games.
I'm trying to think who Hyatt reminds me of other than Hill?Treat yourself to Hendon Hooker highlights to see how special his connection with Hyatt could be in the NFL. I know the Texans would potentially need to wait until 2024 to see what they have in Hooker, but he could be ready before the 2023 season is complete. Hyatt’s 40 time will probably push him into RD1 and along side Johnston. Their speed and size will be hard to ignore.
I'm not sure if I've ever seen a guy like Hill who was a track athlete who was that good at football. I mean we've had Gault, Neimiyah? even the kid from UT who was an olympic level sprinter, Goodwin is his name. Hyatt has fly by speed that he uses for everything else. Not really Tyreeke because he's kind of a unicorn. I mean I like Johnson also, I just need to see how fast he can run which it always seem to be an issue with wrs his size. I mean Jefferson ran like 4.4 and he's about as big and he's the best wr in the nfl right now. Hyatt is a guy that makes defenses play 2 deep which opens everything else up.I'm trying to think who Hyatt reminds me of other than Hill?
Thoughts?

I don't see Johnston in the same light as Jefferson has much more wiggle than Johnston will ever have. Johnston is a big 4.4 guy who can break tackles on short passes for big gains and is a deep threat due to his size/speed. But he doesn't have a whole lot of wiggle in his game even though he's a good route runner for his size.I'm not sure if I've ever seen a guy like Hill who was a track athlete who was that good at football. Yeah, Bullet Bob was just a fly route guy. He was great at what he was. I've never seen a wr with the acceleration from a standstill like Tyreeke. I mean this dude jumped in the air, caught a ball and as soon as his feet hit the ground, he outran the angle. I mean Moss was a bad dude too with his height and next speed. Hill from a stop and go to top speed, I've never seen anything like him.+ 'Bullet Bob' Hayes

Alabama Crimson Tide edge rusher Will Anderson recorded 81 pass pressures two seasons ago in 2021. That was the second-highest figure in the Sports Info Solutions database, dating back to 2016.
If you have ever sifted through college football statistics, you recognize how remarkable Anderson's 2021 pressure total was. Records are rarely held, set, or challenged by top prospects at power programs, but instead by some super-senior from the Sun Belt Conference who faced a few FCS schools during the weeks they were forced to start adjunct chemistry professors on the offensive line...
Well this could certainly change things at the top of the draft. Still sad stuff but man

WOW! That's a serious charge also, not just some misdemeanor. He may go to jail for this. I guess Carter is off the table.Well this could certainly change things at the top of the draft. Still sad stuff but man

No. But reckless driving and street racing causing death is. At least where I'm from, that could lead to a vehicular homicide or involuntary manslaughter charge... Guessing it probably won't get that far, but damn. Young males are stupid animals at that age (I know I was).Reckless driving isn't a serious charge.
