Caserio didn’t get his say last process so what are you looking for?

He wanted to bring in Gannon but Cal forced Lovie as DC.

Can’t hire coaches like that.

So yeah let’s have more of the Janice and Cal clown show.
Nick wanted to keep Lovie as DC, that was his idea from start. Gannon Balked, Nick Caved, Cal didn't let him.

Nick wanted to hire the coordinators, remember? That's why "they" were saying McCown had a chance to be our HC. Because Nick wanted that control.

Don't go rewriting history.

Nick fired Culley because he wanted to hire Flores. Flores went rogue & started suing the NFL. Easterby wanted McCown but because of the PC nature of the lawsuit they decided against McCown. Everybody else on the BS candidate list had been taken by the other teams & Gannon was what was left. It's not like they thought he was cream of the crop.

So no, I don't think Caserio ever thought Gannon was the best guy for the job & Cal over ruled him. That's the KoolAid narrative.

The bridge between stupid and useless is short.
I will never understand how the Texans go weeks without getting their TEs involved in the passing game. Especially when Cooks is out. SMH

But we sure do spend a lot of draft day capital on them don't we.

Lovie is here because Nick screwed up the HC search process.
lol how’d he do that exactly? By valuing his job security & not telling Cal to go screw himself when Cal told him he wanted to keep Lovie around as DC?

this isn’t a peer to peer situation. Wish i would tell my boss I ain’t doing what he wants me to do.

you guys are reaching so hard with this it’s unbelievable.

you’re trying to pass rumor on as fact and its not fact. Someone’s rewriting history & its you. B.S. candidate list? 2 of the guys he interviewed over these last few years have gotten HC gigs (Eberflus, O’connell)…3 others are or REMAIN prime HC candidates THIS year (Lombardi, Frazier, Gannon, Bienemy)

Furthermore..unless you have NC on record saying he wanted to keep Lovie on as DC for Gannon, then you’re just passing rumor on as fact. The only thing Caserio is on record as saying is that Lovie Smith made the most sense…….at the time.

Correction: Cal wanted to keep Lovie as the DC. Just like they kept Crennel.

Well, I've told bosses "No" many times.

Of course they made the mistake of asking "Do you want to go do this or that..?."
My answer was always an honest "No." "However, I am willing to because it's why I get paid."

The questions then become more closer to "Will you ...?"
To which they then recieve the "Yes" they sought.

Not my fault words have meaning..... I just use them. :troll:

unfortunately all ofus dont work in such a cavalier environment. I tell 1 of these docs no, im getting kicked out/ banned out of the OR/Cath lab or meeting..if not outright fired.

Well, I think we would both agree.... Cal is about as comparable to a doctor as an apple to a potato.
youre giving too much credit to doctors…alot of them are potatoes too…they just have “MD” behind their names so you have to respect the chain of command…even of ypu know they’re wrong as hell.

I forsee NC either firing Pep at season’s end …..or forcing Lovie to fire Pep..like he tried to do with Culley. Only this time I believe Lovie will give Pep the axe, where Culley wouldn’t axe Tim Kelly.
They should fire themselves .
gotta kick the FG there at the end of the game. I get it, we suck but you gotta take the points there

Oh, don't mistake my placing them above Cal as putting them on a pedestal.

I simply don't think that highly of Cal.

That's a lot to digest but why would Nick want to keep Lovie as a DC? There was nothing admirable about the 2021 defense. If he wanted Gannon, then Nick should have brought in Vic Fangio as the DC. And why would Cal himself want Flores? I don't see Cal as being that proactive, IMO it would have come from someone else to influence him about Flores.

Same question but different person, why would Cal have wanted to keep Lovie around? Was he was hedging against a screwed up HC search process? If so, then he's a genius to see that beforehand.

While we are throwing around theories, I think they went with Lovie because they screwed around too long, lost the good options, the remaining ones weren't in love with our front office setup, Cal wanted McCown, but the Flores lawsuit shined too bright a light on the team and they got nervous. They already fired Culley and had to do something, so they made a deal with Lovie. Remember the deal he got. 5 years for 25 million, a ridiculous amount for a washed-up coach and a length he would never see. I don’t know if they will fire him this season or not, but I do think he took them to the woodshed on his contract.

There are two different versions of events that transpired.

Reality is that Cal wanted to keep Lovie as DC. I have a feeling there were some promises made to Pep to keep him from interviewing with Panthers.

Your version is your version.

You got me. I guess everyone else has Cal on record saying he wanted Lovie to stay on as DC... or is that just as much rumor as what I'm saying?

2 of the guys he interviewed over these last few years have gotten HC gigs (Eberflus, O’connell)…
None of those guys got a 2nd interview. It was a sham, just like the Giants interviewing Flores after they already offered the job to Daboll.

I wouldn't be griping if O'Connell was still on the list when Nick "chose" Gannon. But they "chose" Gannon when no one else was left.

Looks like you're going to believe whatever rumor you decide is true. That's OK. Bottom line, this is a clusterf & it's getting more clustery.

There he goes playing for the tie again. Something is wrong with that dude. And why didn't anyone ask him about that bullshit playcalling in that last series?
We're going for the TD there...

Did I read that wrong? A TD seals the game, it's over. Kicking the field goal you still lose if Dallas scores a TD.

Going for the TD was the right call. The play calling sucked

Going for it on 4th down after 3rd down lost 2 yards was not the right call in that situation for that team and personnel. But yes the play call sucked

i’ve explained this in several posts in different threads. Cal may have wanted to keep Lovie around b/c Lovie had been here and had witnessed & worked through all the dysfunction that has plagued this organization. He knew 1st hand what it was like around here during that time. Also, Lovie was an experienced coach who’d been a HC and coordinator…which was a far cry from what Culley was. He was also a well-respected guy in the league & no matter what WE thought of him as a guy to get this team over the hump, he himself brought instant credibility to an org in DIRE need of it …..after hiring a coach in Culley that came out of nowhere & was on noone’s list for HC…while also fighting the perception that a character coach was running things here.

everyone lost their **** b/c Culley didnt have any coordinator experience…Well Gannon had only 1 year as a coordinator…which was 2021 for the eagles.

So you kick the field goal & try to hold Dallas to a field goal?

Well, I guess we'd be able to blame the defense.

Wait a minute...

I wonder if they would have offered the job to Frazier if Cal would have insisted Lovie remain the DC

I can’t confirm, but there’s a high probability those guys didnt get 2nd interviews b/c another team snapped them up before it got to that point. Daboll likely didnt get a 2nd interview..its not needed to hire a guy anyway so that’s a moot point.

& its not supposition to believe that the owner of the team has final say over who the GM offers the gig to or who is brought back and who isnt…thats just fact man.
