Sexual Assault Suits Against Watson

A lawsuit filed against the Houston Texans on Monday alleges the team was made aware of some of quarterback Deshaun Watson’s massage behavior during a 17-month period in which he allegedly attempted to

I was with you right up to this statement. I'm not as concerned with the Texans losing draft picks. They didn't start any trade talks with Cleveland until well after it was known that he had 22 civil suits against him and that he had been no billed by 2 separate grand juries. The NFL will want to punish the Browns more by making the pay the price they agreed to pay for the alleged sleaze

Texans didn’t enable Watson. He took advantage of Texans resources and the Texans were unaware of what he was doing. Watson testified to that.

Unless there is an investigation that uncovers something that hasn’t been reported. It would have to be in emails, texts, recorded phone calls, etc. Which is very doubtful because there is no smoke of an investigation even being looked into or considered by the NFL.

I have no concern the draft picks will be taken away.

According to today's news, not only did the Texans know, they were in on it. My concerns about the NFL taking a draft pick or two away from the Texans still remain. I'm not saying that the NFL will, but I am saying I would not be surprised if they did. It would only help reinforce the message that the NFL will not stand for any violent mistreatment of women.

It seems that the Houstonian was somehow arranged through Easterby.........could end up being the end of the "religious leader."
Don't tease me bro....Houston Texans have their very own Melvin P Thorpe?

Reviewing the exposed testimonies within the lawsuit (42 pages), they are MUCH MORE damning to the Texans than originally believed. In addition, with the new information in the lawsuit, I would be shocked if Watson plays another down in AT LEAST 2 years if not truly indefinitely.
I thought Watson himself, under oath said that the Texans didn't know about his shenanigans?!?

He probably was unaware of the other testimonies that would involve him and the Texans............in other words, he was hoping the people who were protecting him would not sell him down the river when they were questioned.

The Texans have issued the following statement regarding today’s development: “We are aware of the lawsuit filed against us today. Since March 2021, we have fully supported and complied with law enforcement and the various investigations. We will continue to take the necessary steps to address the allegations against our organization.”

Boy oh boy. From the Texans trainer, to Genuine touch, then multiple Texans players having sex with those massage therapists from Genuine Touch Therapy (the masseuse contractor with the Texans)
Way back in April, I said..

Texans are screwed if any of these providers complained to the Texans.

Looks like it's even worse than I thought.

If Haslem loses Watson for the season, and Mayfield exits stage left….I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Browns pull the trigger on a move to obtain Garoppolo since the Browns are built to win now.

I thought the same thing, then I tried to put a trade package together. What picks do they have left?
Whole Browns organization

Watson trade: Lol I remember some posters wanted us to hold out for a bigger trade offer. How much do y'all think we can get for this p.o.s. now!

File clerk played his cards perfectly..

I don't think that relationship is repairable. The backstabbing the Browns did aside.. At this point I'm sure he's like everyone else. They want to get away from the Watson situation as soon as possible.

Think about it, if he returns and plays for the Browns he's going to have to answer those questions the entire year.

Plus if I was him I wouldn't risk my body/career for a franchise that doesn't want me.
Not picking on you, but let me ask the question. If Baker doesn't play because of his so called mistreatment, do you think his value goes up or goes down based on what he put on the field last year? Also remember there are 5 1st rd qbs in next years draft also?

Baker is going to play, just not for the Browns..

Someone will get him for cheap, desperation is a stinky cologne.

NFL wanted their position known before Robinson decides so if less than 1 year Texans can say they tried.

If the arbitrator renders a suspension that is less than one year, will the NFL appeal? “I honestly think the NFL will go with what [Sue] Robinson decides," a ...

Not to argue but if I remember correctly Marvin Zindler was the deputy sheriff. After the house he became investigator channel 13.

Close call. Didn’t even know he was in law enforcement…this link thinks it happened right after leaving police and joining the press

Upon news of Zindler's departure from the Harris County Sheriff's Department, KTRK anchor Dave Ward recommended Zindler to the station's assistant news director. On January 1, 1973, Marvin Zindler joined KTRK, a station with a news program languishing in third place.

Zindler made local and national headlines when he and fellow journalist Larry Conners reported on a long-lived brothel known as the Chicken Ranch in Fayette County, Texas, near La Grange, which led to its closure in 1973.

Good question.

Did you know DW4’s contract wasn’t the 1st fully guaranteed contract the Browns gave to a QB?

I don’t know if his “value” would be as important as the “right situation”.

He’s in no hurry. The last time something like this happened, the QB got the largest fully guaranteed contract ever awarded in the NFL.

Baker didn’t put on the film that guy did, but he’s not facing 10 criminal sexual assault & 22 civil suits with similar allegations.

Really hard to figure what Baker’s value would be if he sat out a season. Wild guessing somewhere between $18M & $230M

"Texans created the NDA for Watson to use" - doesn;t sound like a standard NDA form

Easterby helped secured the Houstonian but was smart enough to use an underling's name as the main account bearer
You know this how?

I read it and it seems to use a lot of language that “the Texans knew or should have know” and to me that leaves a little doubt. It does appear everyone was wondering what Watson was doing and never believed he was sexually assaulting women.

But if Genuine Touch and Ashley Solis complained and let the Texans staff know then Texans knew. People will/should be fired like Easterby.

That leaves the burning question did Cal know or did everyone make him believe that the situation was under control when they didn’t know the extent of the situation?
I've been saying they knew for a long time and this lead to Hopkins being traded

Respected members have told me I was wrong. I guess we're going to find this out. It's going to be really hard to prove.

Baker needs good film. Last year was a disaster for him with the shoulder. Most in the nfl already thinks he's a qb who needs to be propped up vs someone who can make up a team flaws like Watson can despite the off field problems. Honestly, a healthy Baker with a running game and defense is basically Jimmy G. If you put Baker in competition with several qb's, including Mills, Tua,Daniel Jones, and Mac Jones. If I were Baker agent, despite the hard feelings, the best way to get a huge contract is by playing and playing well in Cleveland. Cleveland even with Baker on the roster has the 2nd most cap space. They can hold him and next year he will be playing for backup qb money with the chance to make a bigger contract depending on his play. He has 0 leverage. Or maybe the Brown wait until a team loses their qb.

What part of Hopkins interview when he said he knew he could force his way out by asking for more money?

That article was written prior to all today's revelations.............the ante has gone way up.

You know this how?

its from Buzzbee's lawsuit filed today (bottom of page 13)
"Brian Burney, Deshaun Watson's Marketing Manager, testified in his deposition that the Texans created the NDA that was given to Deshaun Watson to use. Deshaun specifically told Mr. Burney that the Texans created a NDA that Watson asked the massage therapists to sign."

or did you mean to ask about Easterby helping to secure a room @ the Houstonian? Its in there as well.

As previously posted, originally, @ Corrosion and I found from different sources that the League was going for a suspension of 2 years/indefinite. As opposed to what has been repeatedly reported (at least 1 year to be reviewed after that) @Corrosion has been told just a few minutes ago that the League is now seeking 2 years/permanent.

I think it'll be an indefinite suspension. As long as these cases keep coming, he'll be required to answer all of the cases before he's reinstated. Could be years and years!

I reported that early today.

The League will have good basis for

From the Personal Conduct Policy:

Following review, the Commissioner, either directly or through a member of his staff, will communicate his decision to the player regarding any disciplinary action to be taken. Depending on the nature of the violation and the player’s record, discipline may be a fine, a suspension for a fixed or an indefinite period of time, a combination of the two, or banishment from the league with an opportunity to reapply. Discipline may also include a probationary period and conditions that must be met for reinstatement and to remain eligible to participate in the league. Repeat offenders will be subject to enhanced and/or expedited discipline, including banishment from the league with an opportunity to reapply. In determining discipline, both aggravating and mitigating factors will be considered. Reference also may be made to requirements to seek ongoing counseling, treatment, or therapy where appropriate as well as the imposition of enhanced supervision, which upon satisfactory compliance would serve to mitigate the discipline otherwise imposed.

Judge Robinson has just recommended 66 games MINIMUM.

I always hoped/imagined/believed that a former federal judge (also a former federal judge that is a woman) would issue a stern rebuke of this behavior. One game for each masseuse “affected” by Watson’s predatory nature, whether they eventually submitted due to his influence or not - seemed reasonable. I would not speak it out loud because the NFL has repeatedly fumbled player fines/suspensions for conduct detrimental. Without rose colored glasses on, this feels “right.”
