What Grade Did Caserio Get on Watson Trade?

Likely #25 or lower?

You just told me you refused to account for a suspension in your value of the trade because it was an unknown.

Now you value that '24 pick based on an unknown?

Seems contradictory.
Not really an unknown we're dealing in probabilities. If you're given a choice to make, what do you base on. 2024 Watson won't be suspended. Before Watson the Browns were an 8 to 10 win team. With Watson Browns win probabilities are 11 or more. 11 win teams are usually picking at #25 or lower. Are you trolling or just trying to be argumentative?

The same cnd with inside sources that has been wrong? There wasn't any mandate from the nfl to prevent him from playing. None. CND is exceptional with the injury stuff, but he's been trash with sources

His thought was related to injuries and how it effected eligibility for the season. Was legit.

How could he do that with the NTC getting in the way?
because He already missed one year and he’s still under contract and is obligated to play under that contract. If he refuses you have the right to suspend him and hold his pay. He should of been told that these are the teams that are interested in you. Pick the ones you will wave your NTC for. The NTC isn’t a free ticket to go wherever you want. Especially when the team can suspend you and fine you.

not to mention that Watson still has 22 civil cases against him. How bad of a jam would he have been in if Nick had played hardball and said suit up or be fined to death, we’re not trading you? he needs that money to make these lawsuits go away Now.

wait whaaaaaaa? how you know that....... where them numbers came from.

He values those 1st round picks as much as anyone. He built his team using them. Just not in the draft.

When he starts passing out 1st round picks for Case Keenum or Vernon Hargreaves then we can say he values them differently.

He doesn’t value 1st round rookies as much as the rest of the league. He’s probably right about that considering most underperform expectations

That’s a disingenuous argument you’re trying to make and you know that. for 1 those 1st round rookies built his 1st SB team. 2nd, he only went the route he did because he realized his window was still open. Again it’s highly unlikely he takes the unorthodox route he took in jettisoning so many high picks if he’s not in the position of RETOOLING instead of REBUILDING his team from scratch like we’re having to do.

And after all that, a 3rd round undersized WR is the MVP of the SB for his team.

Why is everyone whining about not trading DW to Atlanta? If they offered a better deal he would have gone there. EVERYBODY on this board said Atlanta would be the best trade. the Browns wanted the Brown Round more than Atlanta. Trade completed.

If we traded with Atlanta we would have had the #8 and 2 2nds THIS YEAR. To repeat Texian, we only got ONE ADDITIONAL DRAFT PICK THIS YEAR. Draft picks with slots you know THIS YEAR are more valuable than those in the future. Why can’t you get that. Texian has been dead on accurate about this team, ownership and GMs for more than a decade. Let me tell you something, I have more faith if he was GM in getting us a better deal. The Texans are the epitome of amateur hour clowns.
So say the extremely short sighted
2 weeks ago most here would have considered #13 and permanent removal of Watson a godsend. Perhaps you and Texian should find another team

Here is what a Texans Russell Wilson type trade with the Browns would've looked like.

2022 - RD 1 = #13, RD 2 = #44
2023 - 1st and 2nd RD draft picks
2024 - 1st RD draft pick
Baker Mayfield, QB
Grant Delpit, SS
Tommy Togai, DT

Baker Mayfield could be traded for a minimum of what the Colts got for Wentz. Probably more. Plus Texans keep Mayfield being traded to Colts.

So now you know just how bad Caserio F'd this up.

There's a strong chance this was meant for another thread?

That doesn't figure in because just as he may be suspended, he may not. It didn't bother the Browns, it doesn't bother me. To answer directly, no because for me the suspension had no barring on the trade whatsoever.

How do you know it didn't bother the Browns. Bother them to the extent that they negotiated a lower value trade package than you were expecting, for example?

No it was not. Tell the Kool Aid Brigade I said hi. I'm sure they think Nick is doing a wonderful job and they absolutely love Nicks's trade with the Browns, only because I think it was terrible horrible trade. And that Nick has clearly shown once again, he is in way over his head and does not know what he's doing.

Can we stop with "huge" haul. It's a haul but it's far from huge.

The Texans got exactly ONE pick in this year's draft (#13). That's it. The 2023 1st will likely be in the 20's, could be in the upper 20's at that. Damn near a 2nd round pick. The same goes for the 2024 1st. That also means the 2023 3rd will likely be closer to a 4th, and the 2024 4th, closer to a 5th.

The Texans were in a no-win situation, partly of their own doing, but still. They got some picks, enough to take them as is or do some maneuvering, and they no longer have all the drama, well, of at least Watson that is.

I don't think they'll be getting this sunken ship pried off the seafloor in 2022, but maybe they break it loose next year? Maybe start having it rise towards the surface in '24? Maybe start seeing daylight by '25? ****, will any of us still be alive when/if they ever reach the surface?

You can stop with the huge haul if you want to. I'll carry on doing me thanks.

It's literally the second trade in NFL history where three 1st round draft picks were traded for a single player.

I'm not in the KoolAid brigade. If you see my initial post here, you'll see i thought we could've done better.

The trade scenario you presented is completely fabricated and fiction. But you present it like evidence? Please explain.

Oh, OK, if you only see things at the surface, then by all means continue on. I try to look a little deeper at times, but that's just me.

If Cal has to go to this much trouble to defend his GM then this is not good. First he had to bail Caserio's butt out from a 2nd head coach search debacle by personally hiring Lovie and now has to defend Caserio's terrible, horrible, awful trade with the Browns. If Caserio performs this poorly in the draft he could well be on borrowed time. Easterby may be getting the knives ready. Et Tu Jack?

In my yoda voice “pipe dreams your post are.”

mayfield’s not going for anywhere close to what Wentz went for. Browns will be lucky to get a 4th round pick for him. His value tanked the minute the Browns landed DW4 and when Mayfield requested a trade and his goodbye Twitter post before he was actually traded. Teams know he wants outta there and no team is gonna pony up a 2nd and 3rd rounder this year for a malcontent midget qb. If anything he helped put the Browns up against it.

Well like I said in the other thread that has now been put in the basement files, I wanted to jump all over the File Clerk for such a poor and disappointing effort. Something tells me that even the File Clerk could not have done this bad if he had tried. This stinks to high heaven of Game Boy and Momma Game Boy. They just wanted Watson gone and have for over a year. They took Cleveland's first lowball offer and said let's be done with it. No need to negotiate. To sum it up, DeShaun Watson said he could not believe how much the Browns owner knew about the team.

This is the Houston Calhouns we are talking about. Imagine Jackie Gleason's son in the Smokey and the Bandit running the team you root for.

Paging @steelbtexan

He must be ecstatic. Congrats man.

Tell me who they pick and I will tell you how I feel. (Love you man)

depends on where my team is at and how much I value Johnson. Are we a David Johnson type player away from a SB or are we in rebuild mode?

the value of the pick hinges tremendously on those 2 variables.

We saw the Rams throw away 1st round picks like they were nothing for Stafford because they KNEW they were close. It worked out for them. I don’t think they do that if theyre in that position. I don’t think Cleveland is there either.

Agreed about Cleveland being in that position.

Although they've got the premium positions locked down. QB/Edge/CB.

I still dont see them getting out of the AFC to make a SB. How many games is the Sexual Predator going to be suspended for? Cleveland (Mistake by the lake) is the kinda place I could only hope Derrick would end up playing for.

2nd rd and Kupp is 6'2 210, but I get the point.

And if you were GM we would have had Bortles as QB and Urban Meyer as HC.

:potkettle:

Hmmmm....Reading all of these comments from the piss and vinegar brigade, it looks like the Browns are a shoe in for the playoffs every year. I guess they forget that the Browns have only been to the playoffs twice in their existence. I think they also forget that the Browns have to play the Steelers, Ravens, and Bengals twice every year. They probably also forgot that WD40 will probably be suspended at some point.

Some people will never be happy. It must be a miserable existence.

Sure, I'm a little disappointed the Texans didn't get more from the trade, but I'm happy with what they did get, and even happier to be rid of the oily one.

So in 2017 we trade that years first round pick and 2018s first round pick, which became 4, to get Deshaun. Today we gave them the player we used on that trade... lol and got back two first rounders along with an extra. I remember being on the internet boards here in my 20s and early 30s. So full of hope never missing a game. Now im glad Youtube condenses games and gives me the highlights.

This is a really tough question. I think a C - the haul is very comparable to the Wilson deal. Watson is a lot younger and has played better in his last season - but there is still the civil lawsuit and stigma of a sexual predator.
I would have hoped for at least 3 firsts and a second - with the outside chance of 4 firsts - or 3 firsts and some impact players. But in the end it is at least close to what I was expecting. And I am happy, that the saga is over.

and sad.I had high hopes with Watson. It felt like we finally got a franchise QB. And it felt like we were close when we lost to KC - a roster full of stars and a young promising franchise qb. Now it feels like all we have is draft picks and Tunsil…

Sorry you put your hopes in the hands of a sexual deviant.
