It does look suspect that even after he was traded Hopkins was chirping on Twitter about every mistake the Texans organization did until Watson got the civil suits and he's been quiet since that happened.

Let's keep the conversation about the head coach candidates.Wonder why Hopkins went radio silence?
Could it be Derrick's problems were hitting to close to home.
Texans hope someone else will interview Josh McCown
January 21, 2022, 9:56 AM EST
The Texans interviewed long-time NFL quarterback Josh McCown for the head-coaching job a year ago, despite the fact that McCown has no experience coaching college or pro football, in any capacity. They’ve interviewed him again this year, despite the fact that (checks notes) McCown still has no experience coaching college or pro football, in any capacity.
here’s building chatter in league circles that the Texans really want to hire McCown. Some in the media possibly have been enlisted to spin the notion that it’s not as crazy as it sounds. (It is.)
The Texans apparently know they need more than a supportive tweet from one of G.M. Nick Caserio’s reporter-friends. They believe they need, as we hear it, another team to interview McCown in order to legitimate and normalize the notion of McCown going straight to the job of head coach, despite having no experience coaching college or pro football, in any capacity.
Will someone do it? Maybe. Many favors are traded in the NFL, for many different reasons. What if, for example, the Jaguars decide to do a solid for McCown’s agent, Mike McCartney, who also represents Michigan pass rusher Asa Hutchinson? How long does it take? Two hours? The time spent could help set the right tone for the inevitable Hutchinson contract talks.
The point for now is that the Texans are seriously considering hiring McCown, despite no coaching experience at the college or pro level, in any capacity. And maybe they will.
If it works, great. If it doesn’t, they can always fire him after a year, citing “philosophical difference."
That’s because he knows what’s really going on.

Everything's about Jack.

I think you’re gonna be in for a loooooong wait.Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing Jack lead the Texans to the Super Bowl.
I’m going to go with CNNND on the new HC. I’ve taken some time to read up on Kevin O’Connell as well as Pep Hamilton. Why Pep? To see what type of compatibility the two may have. In all honesty, there’s a ton to like, especially on the way they’ve manipulated the West Coast Offenses into separate levels of success.
I think this duo could be highly successful for the Texans offense and Mills. I see Mills as a prototypical QB for the WCO who could become even more effective once he masters the art of the “Play Action” pass. Let them merge their ideas of the WCO for a new offensive system and it might be pretty damm exciting.
The big question, would O’Connell be okay with Caserio already having his coaching staff in place. IMHO…I think this would be fine with O’Connell since this would be his first HC’ing gig and landing veteran coordinators like Lovie Smith and Pep Hamilton wouldn’t be likely for a rookie HC coming into a pretty tough situation with the Texans organization. The negotiation going on behind the scenes may be on how many position coaches O’Connell could personally add to the existing staff.

Doing a little more browsing and ran across this interesting tidbit. Texans OL Coach, James Campen began his NFL coaching career with the Green Bay Packers as an Assistant OL Coach. He was hired by Mike Sherman and instructed to learn and teach the OL personnel the Denver ZBS. He stayed at that position for 11 years and had 7 Pro Bowl lineman during his tenure.
WCO...ZBS...Pep Hamilton staying put...maybe it does equate to James O'Connell being named the next Texans HC. Has Caserio been putting his puzzle pieces together slowly but surely?
Nobody is comfortable with that except David CulleyI’m going to go with CNNND on the new HC. I’ve taken some time to read up on Kevin O’Connell as well as Pep Hamilton. Why Pep? Could be he's moved on like Charles O, JJ, Cobb, and Whitney.Wonder why Hopkins went radio silence?

If they took a picture of the 2008-2009 Texans coaching staff, Robert Saleh would replace McVay in the photo. It's ironic that so many bright, young, future HC candidates were in Houston and after Kubiak, we ended up with BOB and Culley. I guess timing is everything.

I don't see the Hop moving on from anything related to the Texans. I think he's just keeping his mouth shut so he doesn't do anything to trip up Watson.Could be he's moved on like Charles O, JJ, Cobb, and Whitney.
I really don’t care where he’s from. As long as we start winning. I’ll have less patience for someone from “the click”If Nick wants the confidence of the fans, hire someone other than a Patriots assistant. Get someone off another tree.

Josh McCown would be from another tree….in a different Forrest…on another planet…in a distant galaxy.
What's the connection between McCown & Easterby? McCown never played for the Patriots did he?Josh McCown would be from another tree….in a different Forrest…on another planet…in a distant galaxy.
They are supposedly friendsWhat's the connection between McCown & Easterby? McCown never played for the Patriots did he?

yes. Worked out very well for OminehuCharlie O got beat out for his spot by Martin and Greenard so he didn't get the time he wanted. He stopped putting in the work and got pt on the inactive list for a few games and poof he's gone.
Yeah, I got that. They are supposedly friends
Are you comparing Luhnow to Easterby?...oofCan you give me tomorrow nights winning lottery numbers while you're making predictions?
I bet you were this way with the Stros when Luhnow was rebuilding them?
yes. Worked out very well for Ominehu

You caught that from 610 too huhI really don’t care where he’s from. As long as we start winning. I’ll have less patience for someone from “the click”
One is a LDE and the other 2 are RDE. Martin is a package player. The fact that they all said the same thing on the way out the door says alot. Whitney ,who was the poster child of Jack, Bob, and culture, spoke about the organization from the tippity top. Andre, JJ, all points to how bad and the disconnect from the fans. C'mon, Jack running the show. He has entrusted himself even above Caserio and candidates are asking about Jack from the stories and write ups. If you don't believe that, then that's you.Looks like a case study of old overpaid vets out from the guys you listed in this post.

What about Jack? Thats the man you need belief in.I'm comparing what Luhnow did to what Caserio is currently doing. Out with the old and in with the new. (Bringing in their guys) Easterby has nothing to do with football opps according to Cal/Caserio. Dont buy what the media is trying to sell you. They're doing this because controversy sells. Look at your post as an example. The media not just in sports but in general is evil.
In short I will continue to believe Cal/Caserio until they give me reason not to believe them.

I understand what your saying. I truly do. The Easterby stuff made me turn my head when it was not just media but players as well. Then the SI article. There was enough to be a little leary. I am all for change and I like Cassario. Unfortunately perception is reality and Easterby has cemented his rep long ago with the fanbase. Now when you see someone who has never even coached a highschool team get an interview for coach it will make everyone's ears perk up. If they actually hire him then most peoples fears of Easterby will be confirmed (rationally or not). The optics are curious at best.I'm comparing what Luhnow did to what Caserio is currently doing. The irony of The Wizard of OZ was that Tin Man, Lion, and Scarecrow had those attributes. The sad truth is that Kyle has none of them.Game Boy is an empty suit - he's the tin man, the Lion, and the Scarecrow in Wizard of Oz all in one - no brains, no heart, no courage.
