I don’t think nfl would care which team he is on, it’s not like any of this is not known and if Miami wants to roll the dice so be it. NFL may or may not roll out sanctions soon, which team that effects doesn’t really matter.

He has played relatively well this year as a starter................the Eagles' problems go far beyond their QB's play..................not the least of which is their 60 team penalties so far (Houston lags behind them with "only" 57).

Then we find out that Jack Easterby was allegedly hired to "clean up the locker room" and bring that wholesome culture of his to spread his holy butter on the team's apparently decadent toast.
See, either they knew something was up and either ignored it or didn't bother to dig deeper,
or. . .I don't know, things just aren't adding up based on the various stories we are hearing. Unless, of course, the owners are incompetent and then that explains a lot away.

I'm kinda' going with this one based on what we see and that Occam's razor thing of it being the simplest explanation. I'm definitely not getting a football genius vibe from these owners.

One of the former players in that hit piece on Easterby said that they thought someone was following them...& the SI article did nothing to dispell this leap in logic going so far as to use quotes to frame this dude as the little finger of the Texans FO. They intentionally led people to believe that this was likely Easterby doing the following of players....& for all we know it could've been. But based on the dude's history, there's nothing in his background before or since that leads you to believe that that was actually him.....he in fact could've as you say hired a professional investigator to do it for him/them.
This is 1 of the main reasons I’ve never believed wholeheartedly the things said about Easterby. Too much was coming out against him way too fast…it almost felt like it was a calculated smear campaign…first Palcic, then Rootes, both of which gave cloaked responses speaking towards him..then all the other stuff with players, former players etc. Given what this organization has gone through, it makes zero sense that He was the only holdover…..that is Unless he was the whistleblower for all of the dysfunction amongst the FO & players which I believe he was. & In that regard, lots of people had axes to grind against him b/c he in effect broke up the party. But Given what has been uncovered all over the org, can you really knock the methods used to uncover the truth?

Yeah, I'm just absorbing stuff, both confirmed and hearsay, and right now it feels like a very confused, cloudy mess.
What seems clear is this franchise sort of lost its way after Bob McNair passed away. He was clearly the man in charge and I'm not sure how much of the events of the past 36 months would have happened under his watch. JMO

Impossible to know really, but i think alot of it did take place under BoB McNair. More than a few longtime Texans FO people were let go of when he died & from what I understand, he was a guy who hired people and let them work how they needed to b/c he trusted them. IOW, Very loose supervision and that’s what attracted good people. One person we know who has been witness to it all for years? Cal. So it’s possible Cal had opinions about how things have been run and sought to change the PR culture of the franchise to a purely football one. Made a mistake trying to do that by giving BoB all the power that he did, but is in the process of correcting that with Caserio. Easterby was just the instrument he chose to effect the change.

I’m not saying he’s guilty of whatever in the hell they are still investigating. Of course they can play him this year. He’s under contract. It’s the trade contract that doesn’t have all of the pieces IMO for the NFL to make a decision. I think it’s the coercion factor that probably concerns the NFL. Players typically don’t sign huge extensions then demand a trade to a team of their choice with unknown legal issues by the boatload still at large.

I still think a suspension is inevitable, but as more and more days go by I find it less likely he'll face criminal charges. I'll be curious to see if any of the plaintiffs settled leading up to today.
Ultimately, holding him probably improves our return on a trade. 1 bidder at auction does not drive up the price. I would hope trade talks with the Dolphins serve as a "dry run" the next time Nick has to negotiate. Keeping Watson in limbo like this probably makes him ease up on his no trade clause.

Stoerner brought up it would make sense for whoever to trade for him now, put him on the field & let the league suspend him. They're only paying half his salary & winning now doesn't really do anything for them anyway.
Then next season he'll serve the rest of his suspension, 5/6 games * They're paying him $35M.
If Miami trades for him in the offseason they have to consider paying him $35M & him being suspended for most of it.

Why? The reason given by Miami, and other clubs (?), for why there is no deal, is that the legal issues are not resolved. This will not change by the 2022 draft. In fact, with the depositions having just been wrapped up, the 22 civil trials will be coming up. And it will likely be coming more clear whether criminal charges will be pursued.

You might have noticed you quoted a question of mine and not a statement. If there are no criminal charges by late April there likely won't be any at all. As @thunderkyss eluded to above, a suspension is also a key factor. (I actually think the Texans should've / should "pretend" to start him for a game to force the nfl's hand and get the suspension out of the way increasing trade value.)
Potential criminal charges are the biggest obstacle here imo. Once it's purely civil, a trade can be hashed out.
They were never going to get the type of crazy trade value that some on here seemed to think they would unless the legal issues are resolved. Even then that type of return is unlikely for a player who's at best a sexual predator.

He could have lost his way. There may be Mexicans causing trouble across the border. Could be Indians. Hard to say.

It can't be voided "right now" but that's subject to change.
Right now there are no convictions and no settlement admitting guilt.
The Texans haven't forced the issue and told him to suit up. Even if they did , he'd just say he was injured and its nearly impossible to prove his groin isn't a little sore , his back isn't hurting or his hamstring is tight. There might be some recourse there - IF you could prove it. But that's difficult at best , he won't sit still for an independent MRI.
The NFL-PA would defend him - unless there are criminal charges and they'll still defend him until there is a conviction.
IF there's a criminal conviction , I could see them getting this years salary back along with all future money voided & the extension signing bonus returned.
Bottom line , we have to wait for the legal issues to play out before anything else happens.

If Watson is cleared of the allegations…..that would make him a innocent trade piece. The only folks that would cling to the sexual predator moniker are probably on this board…..the GM who trades for him will use the reference, “Franchise QB” to describe their teams excitement on landing Watson.
As for predetermining what the Texans would get in return for Watson, that’s pretty simple….guilty or innocent. This will absolutely be the determining factor in what the Texans receive in trading Watson.
If Watson is found innocent….that would put the Texans in the drivers seat when it comes to dealing with his NTC. Caserio and the Texans might choose to sit down with Watson and try to fix the relationship which may make the most sense if teams desiring to obtain Watson are low-balling the offers.

Can anyone explain to me, why he is holding all the cards - and why he is getting paid? I really don't understand why the Texans are content with paying him and sitting him. Why not make him at least suit up or even start? Maybe run some trick plays with him? If he is getting paid, why not make him earn the money - or make him lose his pay check? Are they trying to gain goodwill? Do they want to prevent him from getting hurt and keep his trade value up?
Because, as a fan, it really irks me that we pay someone what is it, somehwere between 30 and 40 million dollars, that doesn't want to play because the team has hurt his feelings, when they didn't bring him to the table of hiring a GM after they told him they would. I understand disappointment from his side - I don't understand categorically refusing to play for the team anymore because of that and I understand even less, why the team doesn't do anything about it and keep on paying him, although he isn't earning any of it.

I think this is a concern of the NFL. He was given an extension with a NTC. In a way it’s a perk that rewards a player, while honoring his contract, protection down the road from being traded perhaps to a team they might want to go to, especially in their later career. But DW signs the extension with a NTC then almost immediately turns around and says he WON‘T honor one part of the contract by playing for the Texans and demands to be traded to the team of HIS choice. He’s a turd but he would be a littler one if he waived the NTC so the Texans could bargain on a level field. But if that report is correct and he truly said he would only play for Miami, wow he just showed his hand and that sounds like extortion to me. I sign, you pay me to play, I now got the money but I won’t honor that part of my contract to play for it but you must honor the NTC or I’ll just ride my jet ski while you are paying me millions for four years. There is the recipe to wreck the NFL. One could say just don’t other a NTC but the player could just refuse to sign the extension probably with the backing of their union.

There is always the chance the criminal cases never move forward, or that there is too much "he said/she said" to result in a conviction. But with 22 civil cases we can be almost guaranteed that there will either be some judgements against him or that he settles. When you look at all of it together, that doesn't make him innocent, it makes him not guilty. And there is a difference.
Watson will wear the taint of his actions for the rest of his career, no matter how much PR rehab he or his new team do. Will that stop other teams from seeking to trade for him? Probably not, because even the stigma of assaulting women doesn't trump talent/winning in professional sports.

Great point…..but, I f Watson’s not guilty verdict leaves a lot to be desired…..a team that trades for him will soon forget his past if he starts winning and that goes 10 fold for their fan base.
My stance is as follows:
1. I have no desire to see the Texans get fleeced in trading Watson.
2. Nothing pisses me off more than when someone feels they have another over a barrel.
3. If Watson is trying to poison the Texans opportunity to get a fair return in trading him….then I would want him to know that he needs to suit up b/c his arse is going back under center. If not this season then next season for sure when that new contract money goes into effect. I’d keep him on the active roster or IR when he fakes injury to keep him off the availability list….even if I had to pay his arse. Again, the cap isn’t an issue and probably won’t be until 2024. The beauty of holding this arse out…..the teams he may be dreaming of playing for or the teams that would have interest in him probably wind up finding new solutions. The Texans could pay him and let him sit until it’s viable from a cap standpoint which shouldn’t make him available until 2023 (10.8M Dead Cap) or 2024 (5.4M Dead Cap) seasons. How many times could he fake injury to avoid suiting up? Or, how long would he like to remain on the sideline not playing football? Sure he’s getting paid but someone as unsavvy as Watson will be broke or in debt up to his eyeballs by the time the Texans let him see the field of play.
