……b/c what he’s getting away with at the CFB level won’t be the things he gets away with in the NFL.
I don't see how one thing has a negative impact on the other.
(The completion percentage as compared with TD vs. playing in the NFL)

But if you're talking about overall playing style, then you have a fair point.
Honestly, I haven't watched enough of his game films to have an opinion.

My response to BB was sort of a joke as to whom the NFL teams came to watch at the game.

i don't see anything in the way of pass rush moves and he looks rather slender. Reminds me of Aaron Maybin (bust) & that guy the Jags picked a few years ago Josh Allen......who has seemingly disappeared since he became the primary focus for o-lines when the guy opposite him in Ngokuae (sp?) was traded.

Who are you referring too?

Now, between Floyd Reese

And this Belichik

How much of a role/influence Caserio can be back then in the drafting process?

What's the need for Reese if Caserio had been a really capable guy on his own?

Fetched him a few super bowls. To deny that is just being stubborn.

:coffee:
I think this might be a case of Fallacy by Association.

We don't know how much contribution guys like O'Brien and Nick Caserio had in those SB teams.

Let's take a look at Caserio first stint as Director of Pro Personel between 2004-2007.
The Pats went to the SB twice and won one.

Pioli was the VP of Player Personel and the only guy listed as top dog in that department.

Given how Belichik is known to be controlling, with Pioli pretty much as the GM, how much involvement/credit can be given to Caserio?

What do you guys think?

As an example of association, Osweiler may have a SB ring and even contributed a little during the regular season (his record with the Broncos was 5-2).
Does that automatically make him a good QB?

Then came Floyd Reese, who was hired as Senior Football Advisor with the departure of Pioli.
Belichik was named defacto GM.
Caserio's name, again, was listed as Director of Player Personal.
With Reese's long-time record as an assistant GM (3 years) and then GM (13 years), how much can be credited to Caserio between 2009-2012

After that, we can talk about how much the players drafted after Reese that contributed to the SB wins between 2013-2020.

Did they win with the new guys or did they rely mainly on the previous draftees?

Obviously, we can give some credit to Caserio, the question remains how much?

There are a lot similarities in Scott Pioli's Kansas City Chiefs and Nick Caserio's Houston Texans. It's that New England culture thing. It's the only thing these guys know.

Sometimes the proof is in the pudding. The reason Tom Brady left the Patriots was because the talent level in New England had been seriously eroded to a point they could not remain competitive. Kraft had to spend over $100MM in FA this year to restock a bare cupboard in order to get back to a point where the Patriots could be competitive again. Tom Brady knew he could go to a lot of other teams where the talent was at a level where he could remain competitive and have a chance to win, so he did. Tom Brady's departure from the Patriots clearly illustrates just how big the void in talent was in New England.

What I take from this article and many others is that in their efforts to duplicate the Patriots' success, former Patriots' staffers and coaches try to replicate the Pats' success without Belichick or Brady by implementing a bunch of crap that has nothing to do with winning football games and call it culture.

Yep, exactly.

The situation very much reminds me of the
Rudyard Kipling story about the blind men and the elephant. It is about a group of blind men who attempt to learn what an elephant is, each touching a different part, and disagreeing on their findings. The moral of the story is that their collective wisdom leads to the truth.

Unfortunately, we only got one of the blind men and he can only do what he was taught to do in NE.

Exactly.

And then people are surprised it didn’t work out.

To think you are going to get a similar result as someone did with a HOF coach and the GOAT at QB is stupid and arrogant.

Plus you aren’t even going to acknowledge Spygate and Deflate Gate that helped them?

Hire talented smart minds. Like Shannahan Jr., McVay, and others. Not someone who is part of an organization that sells you on the idea of knowing top secret intel that will be replicated.

But that’s the Texans for you.

Except Belichick wasn’t always a HOF coach & Brady wasn’t always the GOAT of QBs.

There was a reason Belichick didn’t go to Baltimore. There were good reasons Brady wasn’t drafted until the 6th.

& I doubt anyone picked from the Belichick tree expecting to institute a new dynasty. Hoping for success. Yeah, it makes sense.

I agree after two weeks with O’Brien it should have been obvious he was no Belichick. To give him 6 years & complete control was just plain stupid.

That is my point. Belicheck was hired prior to his success. He was a fired HC.

Owners hire Belicheck assistants because of Belicheck and Brady’s Superbowls. Thinking they can recreate that magic. That was luck and timing. They both needed each other. Also, Belicheck was fired in Baltimore/Cleveland for being Belicheck. He was actually told he had the extension prior to being fired. He was not loved there which you probably know.

Shannahan Jr was already getting an HC job prior to the Super Bowl run. McVay is similar.

If you try it enough times it eventually will work, right? Or is that just the definition of insanity?

Belichick was hired because of Parcells success.

I do agree, McNair's hired Caserio because of his ties with New England. Chances are this won't end well.

Interesting articles on how Parcells brokered a deal to get Belicheck hired and the drama.

Casario is a total loss farm and was the same at NE. I thought everybody new that. Years of bad drafts and only hits on what BB & friends told him to do.

Just like a dopey Houston team to try to make him a hero--seems like every step we take it's into a bucket of horse s**t.

So now we have this loser and bald loser who's so sweet, and Big Davy Curly, whose so lucky to have this job he'll do what he's told at every turn (which, given his coaching history, is possibly the best we could hope for.

And, of course, the pièce de résistance, Kale.

Sell, please.

I believe that NC is known as being a devoutly religous man,, and if so that would be very appealing to the McNairs.
No not a good reason to hire an nfl hc, but an imorportant qualification for some folks like the mcnairs.

It bothers me that they signed a bunch of older guys who weren't going to be a part of anything anyway, instead of signing younger and getting a head start of finding a diamond in the rough or two. Do they do that next year or are we playing this same stupid game we did this off-season?

I don’t agree that none of these short term contracts won’t turn up players they will want to extend. it’s the younger UDFA’s that wouldn‘t stick in any numbers. We kept our draft choices and it looks like NC may have pulled off a pretty good draft despite his obstacles. And they continue to bring players in for a look or to sign them to the PC but there is a reason they are on the PC. Next year? More draft choices and probably certain FA’s for specific positions.

The cap will be fine by 2023-2024.

No need to worry about the cap right now.
I'm talking about 2022. Just to get to 53 I can imagine Caserio running the 2023 cap.

Heck, he's got to get to 90 by August. He's going to compromise 2024 before 2022 training camp

You're assuming that the File Clerk will NOT behave in 2023 - 2024 the way he did behave in 2021. I'm afraid that what you have seen is what you are going to get.

FTR - Trying be fair, today, Nick Caserio made his best decision since becoming Texans GM by NOT trading DW4. I am onboard with this and come April many here will be extremely happy with haul from the DW4 trade. Sometimes the best decisions you make are the decisions you don't make.

So another traded Texan, Whitney Mercilus comes out of the woodwork to say that the Texans troubles come from problems at the top. Mercilus goes on to say he was glad he was traded and is really enjoying his new found freedom. What the hell is going on in there? Is Caserio running some kind of damn gulag?

The fact the Texans are a poorly run organization should be no surprise to anyone, most especially the players.

The rebuild starts next year!. . .or in 2023. . .or 2024. . .heck, Caserio's got 5 more years to figure it out, so the rebuild is not really a priority. Culture is the priority! :gun:

Caserio just talked about the importance of culture TODAY. Along with other buzzwords like "behavioral sciences" and "organizational structure".

Fans are not coming back anytime soon. I'm just curious how long it will take the naked emperor to it figure out when he's surrounded himself with yes-men.

Nick Casserio: we have a lot of great interactions, players have come up to us ... about how much they love being here, that they want to be here..." Why is he so damn nervous? He can't stand still.

TRANSLATION: We signed a lot of guys and had it not been for us they would have been out of the NFL and would be working at Home Depot or Lowes. So yeah these guys are always coming up to us ....about how much they love being here, that they want to be here..."

Sources report Home depot has just announced signing Vernon Hargreaves to a 1 year contract at minimum wage.

Stock prices for Home depot (hd) have plummeted and quarterly earnings are now forecasted to be the lowest in years.
