Nick Caserio - New GM

Casario is a total loss farm and was the same at NE. I thought everybody new that. Years of bad drafts and only hits on what BB & friends told him to do.

Just like a dopey Houston team to try to make him a hero--seems like every step we take it's into a bucket of horse s**t.

So now we have this loser and bald loser who's so sweet, and Big Davy Curly, whose so lucky to have this job he'll do what he's told at every turn (which, given his coaching history, is possibly the best we could hope for.

And, of course, the pièce de résistance, Kale.

Sell, please.
So everything done wrong was Caserio and everything done right was someone else telling him what to do. Ok I think I understand your point of view now.

Though it does open the question of if everything someone else told him to do was the right thing and everything he did the wrong thing why did BB and Kraft keep him for 20 years?

Then again if you look at how sentimental and emotional both are about their staff and players and how they try to keep both for as long as they can I guess it makes sense.

...and come April many here will be extremely happy with haul from the DW4 trade.

Fans are not coming back anytime soon. I'm just curious how long it will take the naked emperor to it figure out when he's surrounded himself with yes-men.
I'm curious as to how long the rest of the McNair family will allow their Baby Huey to run their $billion investment into the ground. I don't think were at the tipping point. Yet. But, we can see it from here.

I've always held the point of view that there are 4 McNair siblings and it would take them about 4 or 5 years before they got their bellies full of the dumpster fire, being a laughing stock and an embarrassment to the family, the NFL and the city of Houston. Disgruntled they will want their piece of the pie in cash. 3 of the 4 will make their demands for Mama Janice to sell. The go along get along Game Boy will concede knowing that this really was never his cup of tea and he was really terrible at it.

Maybe I overreacted a bit because it will be the new 2022 league year before trading DW4 when there will be more players seated at the poker table. I am expecting to be disappointed either in the trade value received or how the windfall it will be used (wasted).

I can't imagine a trade before the 2022 season. He's got 22 civil cases he needs to settle by March... April if you're looking at the draft. He's got none settlef right now.

Doesn't appear he's trying to get traded.

Then there are the criminal cases.

It reminds me of a story Cecil Shorts mentioned on 610. According to Shorts, O'Brien would tell them a play would work and to prove it works, he would breakdown and show game film of the Patriots running the play. Being a slot WR, he had to focus on the Patriots slot WR and while watching the play, his thought was is "he expecting me to run this route like Welker? We are two different type of WRs and the route he is running is not my best route."

My point? Rudy Ruettiger was a hard worker and team player with a strong work ethic. It doesn't matter how much he acts like Harrison or Seau. You don't want him playing on your defense.

Round peg, square hole.
OB doesn't know how to put his players in a position to succeed, I had always said.

I read an article this morning that mentioned Buzzbee stated Watson and Hardin were seeking to settle with his clients. A lot of the ND verbiage was shot down and the women didn’t want to settle.

I believe it’s Watson who’s beginning to panic….not over whether he’s guilty or not guilty but when will he actually see the playing field again now that he burned his bridges with the Texans.

The NFL is standing by their statement that they haven’t enough to put him on the CEL. I believe this is what’s pushed Watson to try and settle so he might have a chance to play this season with another organization. Didn’t happen….so I think his stance regarding the NTC may be looked at completely different around 01 June. Otherwise, 2022 could be another season on the outside looking in.

I think Watson is set to give a statement/testify in February 2022. A lot can happen from now, to February, to over the summer of 2022 prior to the season starting.

When does Watson start getting his increased salary? Probably want something to happen prior to then.

I work for Exxon IT and Dell has a contract with them that not only will they exclusively use Dell but they have to buy the latest model each year and if it is a product Dell makes, mice or keyboards, then they are required to buy it.

Frankly I’m not sure how all that translates to football terms but that’s an example of the Dell business model. It does make their company a truck load of money.

Caserio is not a scout, so I doubt it
Caserio has made at least one scouting trip so far this season. I don't know if he was at the Ole Miss/Liberty game, but I'm sure he will attend other games this season.

Caserio doing normal GM duties...

The Twitter twit we were responding to mentioned teams & the number of scouts from the teams.

It's not that I don't think Caserio does his job, I just think they mention a GM as a GM when they twit.

Highly doubt it. Dude wants to show everyone he’s the smartest man in the room lol
I just dont get after watching these clips where you get that Caserio thinks he's the smartest man in the room. Unless that was your perception to begin with.

I just used the Cowboys as an example of your narrative being wrong.
I wish the Texans org would setup weekly/daily shows that talk about the last game and the upcoming game with media members and Cowboys employees like the Talking Cowboys show. Plus the offseason draft content shows like the Draft Show where they have former scouts like Bryan Broadduss/Bucky Brooks and draft gurus like Dane Brugler, plus local media to give their thoughts on the upcoming draft. It's not just Cowboys related draft material but league wide draft news/opinions.

Doing this would cost Cal $$$$$ but I think it would be worth the cost to keep the fans engaged since there's not much of the on the field product to keep the fans engaged. But I never expect Cal to spend the money to cover the production expenses for a quality show like that one.

They would rather do fluff pieces like these with Caserio where the Texans org can control the narrative and the fans lose out on info once again.

He learned this from the master.
Except the master only teaches them what they need to know to work for him. So they are aping him more than anything. :monkey:

Belichick does not care if his coaching tree ends up looking like the Charlie Brown Christmas tree (before they decorated it, of course).

He knows that anything he teaches could be used against him, so he's careful to only give each of his subordinates the lessons they need to serve his purposes.

So they walk away with just a small piece of the pie, which is rarely enough to feed the entire team.

Caserio is the little red ornament. lol

Hopefully Caserio is the exception to the rule. He's the only guy that BB wouldn't let leave.

BTW, Robinson/Vrabel seem to be doing pretty well.

There is a laundry list of people BB didn't want to leave. It's not the people he didn't want leaving it was the information they had he didn't want leaving the building. Part of the BB schizoid secrecy paranoia syndrome. Caserio's problem is he was under contract for a couple of years when he got the urge to leave. Unfortunately the syndrome is what most Belichick admins take from their time in New England and not much else.

Re: Robinson, Isiah Wilson is how you spell doing very well?

Vrabel was never a Belichick coach or admin. Vrabel credits his time under Urban Meyer to his learning how to be a coach.

Right.
Vrabel already played for two different DCs in Pittsburgh (most notably Haslett) before he gets to NE.
Then he broke into the coaching rank with Myer at Ohio St., then with the Texans.
And the Titans are running the WCO, not the EP.

As for Robinson, he came to the Pats as a scout under Pioli; he would report to Pioli, and then he would learn from Reese also.
He also worked for a couple of other GMs as well before he landed the Nashville job.

You could say he had learned some from Belichik, but I would think the influence comes more from the guys he worked more closely with.

Ozzie Newsome learned directly under Bill Belichick and said Bill was the reason for his success as a G.M. So the entire tree isn't rotten at the root..
There is an NFL Films documentary (A Football Life) about Cleveland when BB was coaching there. It clearly shows the system he set up brought that championship success to the Ravens when they moved. I have no doubt the Browns would have been competing if they had stayed and BB continued as their HC.

Bill learned his lesson there, tho'. He's not giving the same power to his subordinates in NE that he did in Cleveland. There is a documentary out there with him and Saban where BB talks about it and only giving each person under him the duties he needs them to perform. He does not want a former student to become his master.

What are your expectations of a GM? Yes, he missed on Wilson, but not because of talent.

He also hit on CB Chris Jackson and S Hooker in the later .rds. As well as hitting on AJ Brown in the 2nd.

Ozzie also credited the first GM he worked with and the job he had as a college recruiter (I think it was for a financial firm).
His personal background also helped him deal with players.
So yes, he did appreciate Belichik, but IMO, Ozzie was also able to draw from his own life and from other people that he worked with.
His approach seems to be quite different than Belichik, for example. Ozzie stresses team work; he isn't controlling like BB.

Good Grief, have you even looked at Robinson's draft history? He pretty much wasted the windfall of picks the previous Titans GM got for trading the #1 pick in the 2015 draft. This is the kind of nightmare management that I know awaits the Texans courtesy of the File Clerk. Except I have a high confidence that File Clerk will be able to one up the current Titans GM.

Let's see, in 2016 Robinson gave up 2nd RD and 3rd RD picks to move up to the #8 pick to draft a RT Jack Conklin who now plays for Cleveland. He also drafted Kevin Dodd with pick #33, Dodd played 2 years. With pick #43 he drafted Austin Johnson who now plays for the Giants. The following year he used pick #5 on Corey Davis who now plays for the Jets. In that same year he used pick #18 on Adoree Jackson who now plays for the Giants. He only had 4 picks in 2018 draft and six in the 2019 draft. Not to mention the absolute complete horror of the 2020 draft.

If I were you I would stop touting Robinson as a Top GM. He is anything but. It's not that the Titans are a good football team. it's a matter of the AFC South is worst division in the NFL. This has inflated the Titans WIN schedule and what has allowed Robinson to blow smoke up your hiney that he is a great GM.

BTW trading a 2nd in 2022 and a 4th in 2023 for a 32 yr old, over the hill, past his prime WR, Julio Jones, was another bone headed move by Mr. Robinson.
