The all encompassing DW4 good plays thread

Funny. People were saying this about BOB not too long ago, and you were pleading we give him a chance.

4 yrs is giving him a chance.

I called for BOB's firing after 5 yrs. 51-7

My thought process is that after 51-7 that showed a lack of leadership in the Texans org and both of the main leaders should've been replaced. BOB/DW4

Which I find weird. As perceptive as you are, I'd have thought you'd seen all the things that culminated in 51-7 & been critical then.

I know he's had challenges. But at the same time the things that were BO'b that ended up 51-7 were BO'bs.

The way I saw it was I was willing to give BOB a chance with him fully calling the shots. That changed after 51-7.

Make no mistake though, I saw some of the issues before 51-7.

I guess in some of these fans world only Watson has flaws and he needs to improve.

The rest of the team is top notch and are without flaws. Because they surely don't harp on their flaws nor talk about what they need to improve in.

Who is the player who makes the team go? That no matter what is the one blamed for wins or loses? The QB. And yes I am sure going to point out a low completion percentage over a missed block or a RB not picking up many yards. Seeing if the QB is in the right play he should be able to make it work for positive gain. An example of what people are saying is this:

2rd and 3. No WR open, blocking has been bad and Watson is under pressure. Instead of throwing it away to get 3rd and 3...he runs around and gets sacked. Making it 3rd and 7+ or worse, a fumble and even worse trys to throw it and INT. Smart to throw it away. This is what type things Watson is not doing that add up over time in a game.

No we are not saying that he should be traded or something. We are saying that like vs the Jags Watson should be head and shoulders above the QB they had. Sadly, they had a higher completion percentage and had he not thrown an INT...his QBR would have been better. Watson has to be better than that.

That Clemson offense was very successful here in Houston during Watson rookie season. If you actually looked around the league a lot of teams are running quite a bit of those RPO plays. Especially Baltimore

In KC they’re running a bunch of Texas Tech plays, as well as running a lot of the RPO plays.

Have you not been pay attention?

Those plays aren't really the same , just run out of the same set which makes it easier for the QB to see the entire field.
The route concepts and reads are not nearly the same. Those simple route concepts on one side of the field just don't work in the NFL where the players are better and the windows smaller .... there's a lot more deception and cohesiveness to NFL routes. It aint just go beat your guy , each route , read and window is part of the whole - a clockwork so to speak.

It's going to be hard for Watson to outshine anyone playing our defense.

I honestly think Watson has come down from causing his own sacks & throwing INTs.

I'll have to look at the numbers.

He still causes his own sacks, yes. But not nearly as much as he used to.

9 times out of when he does his thing the outcome is usually positive. 8 times out of 10 at the worst.

Watson has a 28-25 record as a Texan with 8 games left this season. Toss a few records in during his time with the Texans like......first QB in NFL history to pass for 9,000 yards. and run for 1,000 yards in 36 games. Doing all this with crap coaches, no OL, no real running game, and a ducked up offensive scheme puts his accomplishments into perspective.

The bolded is very true. So far this season, whats the opposition QB/RB numbers been against this defense? I'm guessing quite high lol

And this record should be higher than this. At least 34-14. The defense cost us 7 wins and counting.

So in 2013 you thought Derek Carr was a Superbowl Quality QB, yet you dont think Watson is one?

No I didn't think he was a SB level QB, I will admit I was jaded by his brother and questioned his work ethic. In yr 4 he's improved enough that I think he can now win a SB.

Every single one of those is subjective and outside of a couple of you blind squirrels, no one on Earth would agree with you.

I dont expect people to agree with me nor do I care what they think.

I think what I think and dont let the crowd influence my evals. Good thing is we're going to find out if your guys as good as as you think he is with a new regime coming in.

My question to you is, how long do you give DW4 before you start expecting improved results? I give him next yr to learn the new system and 3 or 4 games of yr 2. I truly hope my evals of DW4 are wrong but as of right now I just dont see what others are seeing.

Dink and dunk. :brando:

Apparently you haven't watched the Raiders much this yr. Carr has hit Ruggs with several bombs. He threw several bombs to beat the Chiefs as well as doing the same thing last week in the 2nd half to beat the Chargers. Your getting David Carr mixed up with Derek Carr. Or maybe you've got blinders on in your defense of DW4.

I'll have a better idea after the draft and free agency next year.
Who the heck know what the new GM and HC can accomplish at this moment.

I know his AYA is up this year, but it's only half a year.

The point is, with the new weapons at WR he's throwing the deep ball when it's there and taking the shorter stuff when it's not. In short he's playing very well this season.

And you have lol

And you have lol

I have, I've got quite a few Raiders on my FF team and watch them in the early games when I dont have friends over and I'm playing golf during the late games. When friends are over we watch all of the games.

I've got Carr/Jacobs/Ruggs/Renfrow on my FF team. I dont start both Ruggs and Renfrow except on bye weeks. I'm a big believer in what Gruden/Mayock are building and if I was a GM, I would've built my team like they have. They're just a couple of pieces away from being a true SB contender.

How long has it been since Gruden took over? Year 3? I don't remember.

Here’s Dereks last four games:

347 yards 3 touchdowns 1 interception 126.7 Rating. Won
284 yards 2 touchdowns 1 interception
97.5 Rating. Lost
111 yards 1 touchdown 0 interceptions
87.3 Rating. Won
165 yards 2 touchdowns 0 interceptions 108.1 Rating.Won

(Against the Buccaneers they were getting blown out so those yards are not counted because they were garbage time stats) lol

So yes he’s way better than Watson. Lol
