Then got embarrassed at home 21-7 in the opening round of the playoffs.
That's a fair point. DW4 hasn't looked the best in the playoffs, and it is a concern of mine.
But, I think it's also fair to wonder whether BOB is putting the offense in position to succeed. Is he coming up with the proper gameplan, playcalling, and preparation?
Maybe DW4 isn't a big game player? He falters in the playoffs? Well, that doesn't quite match up with his history. He won a state championship in high school, he then won a national championship in college. His history suggests he doesn't falter in big games.
If you look at BOB's history, though, he doesn't have any evidence of putting his teams in position to win big games. Throughout his coaching career, has he been able to win "big" games in the post season? Even as a member of the Patriots coaching staff for 5 years, he didn't win one championship ring. Even before DW4 arrived in Houston, look at BOB's performance in the playoffs. They got embarrassed losing 30-ZERO, AT HOME, against KC. The next season, they beat a Raiders team playing their 3rd string QB, then eventually lost to NE 34-16.
So as a common fan like myself, it's very easy to conclude Bill O'Brien is probably the problem, not Deshaun Watson.
Now firing BOB isn't a guarantee to solve all of our problems. We still need to hire a good coach, or else Deshaun is probably heading to a Matthew Stafford type of career.
