I don’t know if we are or not.
Just saying his addition would get me to where I need to be.
I have a feeling O'Brien wants to go even more run heavy on offense this year to set up Watson even better for his already deadly play action game. That's my feeling based on the type of interior linemen they've signed in FA.
I think they're going to sign a running back and/or draft one earlier than a lot of people expect.
Do you think they will draft a RB in the 3rd? Or give old man AP a shot.
Now Blue was impressive, so will they give him a 2 year contract?
Texans trying to get a meeting with hurns

Hurns update...imo, Texansarebetter landing than all these other suitors, but hey I am biased

It all depends on how Hurns views himself. If he thinks he’s a bonafide, starting outside receiver and wants to eventually get paid like one... Texans may not be ideal. Nuk & Fuller has those spots locked down. Now of course, the pessimistic fan will say Fuller can’t play a full season. But Hurns may not want to take that gamble. Is he even good enough to supplant Ellington as the third receiver? Would he even be open to taking that role?Hurns update...imo, Texansarebetter landing than all these other suitors, but hey I am biased

So the Texans trade up into the first round (at least 2019 1st), so that Lamar Jackson, can have a bad attitude (even if he is mostly a good, professional guy) about being drafted to be Kordell Stewart for 4 years?

Are the Texans even looking for additional receivers? They already have Nuk, Fuller, Ellington & Brax. They have historically only carried four receivers.

Could the Texans do the unthinkable and draft this guy? I kinda like Jackson .. alot. But it's just wierd they would hold a private workout for him.
Ellinton and Braxton are not (rephrase imo should not be) guaranteed any sort role or guaranteed spot...In addition, 4WRs in a low number to regular carry on the 53 man roster with all the multi WR sets in modern football. Assuming that Anderson and Ervin are healthy and make the squad there are make do as slot guys.
Also, really this a really top heavy position with NUK and Fuller...They could use help here just other things may turn into bigger priorities.
My post goes back the report that the Texans had contacted Hurns when released.

Biggest problem with Texans WR room is not ability as much as durability. Outside of Hopkins the other 3 have all had issues staying healthy. Adding Hurns would bring his own durability concerns but at least we improve our odds of having a talented WR healthy opposite Hopkins!

Per Ian Rapaport’s twitter the Patriots have re-signed OT LaAdrian Waddle to a one-year contract.
Looks like Cam Fleming has set his price too high. Maybe the Texans can grab him just prior to the draft when his agent lowers his price before teams draft to fill the need?
Or maybe we should just over pay for a position of need to protect our franchise QB when we have the cash?
I would take the chance and the risk. This would be a much needed temporary plug in our porous offensive line from last year. We aren’t in a position to be picky and we are needy. So yes, we are desperate.
Signing him to a bad contract wouldn’t be as bad as the risks we took on the last several years in QBs. Especially the last one. A bad LT contract doesn’t set your team back the same number of years as a bad QB contract.
I honestly see us trading up into the 2nd to take a LT.
Texans host QB Lamar Jackson for private workout

Maybe just a conflict of dates, qb scouts may want to see other quarterbacks on same pro day. SMU Matt Davis maybe?

Yup, I also could see us trading that seattle 2nd round pick we have next year to really trade up in the top of the 2nd. I would also like to keep the picks next year but if theres first round talent that fell you have to make that move to get there. We have the ammo. The ability to now trade compensatory picks is huge for us this year.
We have quite a few picks. None that are high, but a decent number overall.
Hopefully we don't trade any future picks, but I would not be surprised to see the Texans try to use those 3rds and 6ths to get up into the 2nd. I could see a scenario where we move around and only end up taking five or six players in this draft.
The Texans are not a RD2 player away from being that much better, especially at the cost of 2-3 players from RD3 and RD4. Again, I'd use the RD3-04 and RD4-03 as bait to possibly pick up 2-3 additional picks in RD3, RD4 and/or RD5.
If Texans could turn those 2 picks into:
4- RD3
2- RD4
1- RD5
Add this group of picks to the:
3- RD6
1- RD7
This could give Gaine and O'Brien an opportunity to find some decent help and depth from a draft that's missing 2 primary picks. Not to mention, the 2019 picks remain in tact.
Why the “need” for secondary help after bringing back JJo, then signing Mathieu and Colvin? We need RBs, TEs, OTs, Secondary help and need some speed off the edge badly. If we trade up we’re screwing up.
This draft is full of RBs, TEs and secondary. Let the draft fall the way it does and improve these positions. Everyone is panicking about LT. There are ways to help protect the left side. Play calling, extra help from a TE or another OT. Don’t sacrifice an entire draft that can really help the overall depth and talent of this team for one position. STOP PANICKING!
The same for RB. Would be good to have insurance for Foreman, but not really a necessity.
Blue is gone and Foreman most likely will never be the same. Miller shouldn't be the starter. RB is a need.

Sure, we could always use more bodies back there, but wouldn’t necessarily call it a need.

I do see the need for a TE & OT though.
Enough of this kneeling crap. Everyone needs to let it go. This guy is a good player. Bring him in.Eric Reid is still out there. Would be a great compliment to Mathieu.

Reportedly Texans worked out Lamar Jackson. Scoreboard!
It doesn’t matter to me anymore. He can kneel all he wants. This subject is old and has run its course as far as I’m concerned.Reid has said the kneeling is over.
