Which off-season moves would you like the Texans to make? (Roster/FA)

Of course if you're talking about pure talent then you go with Suh but there are questions regarding his motivation in my mind and the guy brings trouble. Sure it's trouble I'd be willing to put up with for results but in any fantasy signing of Suh he's going to bring a big price tag and concerns about his behavior. I look at Suh and I see Albert Haynesworth just trying to sock more money away and looking for a sucker to give it to him. Maybe that's not fair (I'll be the first to admit it) but as much as I would be excited about him coming here I'd also be scared that we just made a big mistake.

Hankins is a great lower-cost alternative who is bigger, younger, and a perfect 3-4 NT who would have a chance to play Indianapolis twice a year now after they cut him one year into a $27 million dollar contract. I think we might get more out of him than we would out of Suh.

As of right now I'd like to see the Texans go chase down Johnathan Hankins.

Watt-Hankins-Reader would be a hell of a line and there's nothing like getting a guy from a division rival who was just cut.

I'd much rather see him than Suh and his baggage. But his price is likely going to be out of the park. Last year, the Giants had a four-year, $28 million offer on the table for him. It will be more now.

If Gaines is any good at his job he could make that work. We still have a lot of young players on rookie deals right now. Not forever obviously but we're not up against it hard right now. That Honey Badger signing for $7 million is really going to help plus it's not like the Texans couldn't ask JJ to restructure to help get some more players. Watt has to know that he's been basically a great citizen/cheerleader for two years now and his career is getting shorter. Yes he's going to want financial security but he's also going to be thinking of his window to win a championship getting smaller and smaller. I bet he wouldn't hesitate to rearrange some dollars to get some help on the line.

Can't double everybody on a defense like that. Hankins in the middle. Watt and Reader on either side of him. Clowney and Mercilus on either side of them. McKinney and Cunningham on the inside and waiting in the secondary are JJo, Colvin, Mathieu, and Kareem Jackson/Kevin Johnson. With a front seven like that even JJo will look fast again covering WR's.

The dude is pure grade A asshole.

He can play football though.

Gaine gets us a TE and we can safely say the draft can be used to draft the best players available. Griffin is not bad mind you. Can Griff take it to another level.

I am impressed, totally impressed. This guy knows what he is doing.

GM Brian Gaine has signed 6 free agents: S Tyrann Mathieu, CB Aaron Colvin, G Zach Fulton, G Senio Kelemete, OT Seantrel Henderson and CB Johnson Baldemosi. Gaine will be signing more free agents.

I’d like them to take a look at Cam Fleming and Blaine Gabbert.

Fleming best OT left and Gabbert mobile QB who had his moments in AZ last season. Would be a solid backup option with athleticism that allows team to run similar offense if Watson gets hurt.

Fleming fits the “stronger and longer” with playoff experience narrative that Gaine mentioned for the other OL.

For those Solder fans, Flemming was originally projected to take over the Pats LT position with the loss of Solder. He had also played RT and RG for the Pats. From his limited play with the Pats, he has shown very promising upside potential.

Fun fact about the guy...

Graduated with a degree in aeronautics and astronautics from Stanford AND entered the draft early in 2014.

So why wouldn't he stay in New England? Looking at all options is one thing, but it seems like he could remain in the winning culture and protect Brady? Hard to leave that for the mediocre money Houston is throwing around.

You claim to want what's best for the team. Hiring Kaep would be the perfect backup, solve McNair's comments and solve the lawsuit.

And you're opposed?

Nope, I just don't like to waste time in fantasy land.

BTW I don't think Kaep is the best backup QB available for the Texans. RGIII is. IMHO

Does Kaep need to tear an ACL before he's better than RGIII? Not understanding your logic here.

He's a better QB without the distractions. Do you feel the same way about the Colvin /Matheu signing?
RGIII would have trouble hitting the ocean from a boat any more. He's simply not the same player he was as a rookie. I don't really have an opinion, other than wait and see, with any of the FA signings.

What qb was the one who won the last game in Cleveland?

How many games did Kaep win that year?

It should be a layup, but no, it's unlikely.

Semi side note, if the owners wanted to kneecap his lawsuit, someone would suck it up and hire him. As it is, they look exactly like the blackball conspiracy he alleges.
To be perfectly frank, I think he is a stirrer/agitator and would want no part of him on my football team either.

He altered his protest after talking to a Special Forces guy so as to not be disrespectful.

But of course people are entitled to react to his protest.

I see no reason to think he would agitate beyond this one cause.

Fleming will be in Dallas Monday and Tuesday. Hopefully that’s before he will visit us on Wednesday while he is in Texas.

Seems like I'm late to this party but I'll still weigh in...

I don't think Kaepernick is all that good but he's much better than a guy like Blaine Gabbert, who curls up at even the thought of pressure (imagine him behind this OL, would be Savage-esque). Kap is also a good fit schematically in an offense built around a dynamic threat like Watson.

That being said, I don't want him in Houston because I don't want our team to have to deal with the media circus that is attached to him. I felt the same way about Tebow. The last thing you want your backup QB to be is a distraction. I know that wasn't his plan when the protests started and it's gotten out of his control but it's attached to him now and it's not going away.

In a perfect world I would trade up for Lamar Jackson. He could start in so many positions as well as being dynamic, fit the system Watson back- up. That’s plus value and great team chemistry addition.

what other position has had played besides QB? As I recall, Jackson has balked at the suggestion that anything but a QB...oh and he might go as high as current QB, so what exactly are trading to be him?

Zierlein mentioned on the radio that many personnel execs view him as a WR with Odell Beckham potential.

Jackson however disagrees and seems to view himself only at QB. Smart move considering if he’s a top 20 QB he’s making more than the top 5-10 WRs.
