The Johnny "Football" Manziel NFL thread

He had plenty to make if he took his career choice seriously.

To quote in paraphrase fashion: "I've got plenty of time after my career to have fun."

I agree with you, but Johnny has enough $$$$ to party the rest of his life and tell the world to kiss his a** if he wants too. This is what I think bothers people. People want him to conform for $$$$ or fame etc... it's not gonna happen.

I'm just glad the Texans didn't draft him.

Disagree. You think these guys are financial geniuses. Ever see the NBA go on strike? They had games so the morons could keep their BMV's. Johnny can't sustain his spending....period.

Johnny's family is worth about 900 mil, he doesn't need the NFL.

Wow 900 MM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they would have to be incredibly stupid to burn threw much money that and I don't think that will happen.
Man that is insane money. I know Manziel does not need the NFL but he had/has an opportunity to make something for himself other than being an heir to a fortune. Not that being an heir is a terrible thing, but it looks like he wasted an opportunity to make a name for himself as something other than a HS and College great. I'm sure he's not losing any sleep. Good god 900 effing million?

Yes but I thought I read a while back his dad cut him off.

I haven't read that, but even if so the A&M crowd will/should take care of the former Heisman trophy winner. Also he can make alot of $$$$ by selling off come spend a weekend hanging out with former Heisman trophy winne Johnny Football for a fee.

Dont worry about Johnny ever going hungry.

Apple don't fall far from the tree folks.

well, that's if you believe this Deadspin article

Oh and his family worth is currently $50 mil, not $900.
Still, that's a lot of lettuce.

Maybe the article is correct, but people I know who should be familiar with the Manziel's net worth told me they were worth close to 900 mil.

His parents are worth $50 mil, perhaps other family and holding is worth another $850M?

I don't believe everything I read anyway

I was joking.

But yes, Manziel's a tool. I agree with Tony Gonzalez. I see him getting one more shot with a team. He either lights it up and continues to party (unlikely), gets his life straight and plays decent football, or he'll end up dead of a drunk driving accident or drug overdose in a few years.

You can be like Gronk, but only if you actually do something on the field. Thus far, Manziel isn't anywhere close to Gronk's level.
What makes you think it will take that long?

What if Johnny Manziel were to move in with you and live in your household under your guidance? Could you help him change his ways? I would hang out with him, watching movies and TV shows, cooking good food, playing video games. The stuff guys his age should be doing for fun without always going out to the clubs all the time. I think I could hang out with Johnny and keep him out of trouble.

Got to hand it to him. How is he scoring all of these hot chicks at the club? Do these drunken girls not know how he treated his ex girlfriend and that she put a restraining order on him?

Is it just because of the money and fame he has? He made a nice chunk of change from his first-round rookie contract but it's not like he's paid like a superstar quarterback.

Is he just living the party life while he can?
His own father thinks he'll be dead before he turns 24.

I want to see Johnny Manziel pull it together...
Get signed by another team and have some success.

He's still a kid to me. A lot of guys don't grow up until 27 or 28. Although given his profession he's in the spotlight and every move he makes is magnified.

One day Johnny Manziel may want to settle down, get married and have kids. But I'm concerned with the way he treats these young ladies. He hooks up with new girls every time he goes to the club. Sometimes two or three at a time. I'm surprised his ex stuck with his cheating ways for so long.

I'm not sure Johnny Manziel needs anything other than a reliable friend. In general I want to believe Johnny is a good guy. He just has to hang out with the right people.
(Almost) Every girls fantasy is that they are the one person in the world that can tame the beast. Why do you think girls go for the bad boys when logic would dictate otherwise?

Maybe the article is correct, but people I know who should be familiar with the Manziel's net worth told me they were worth close to 900 mil.
Well if they found a way to hide $850 mil from the IRS (or whoever tracks these things) more power to 'em.

Cleveland Fans Chose Johnny Manziel over Jim Brown in Cleveland Sports Bracket
By Kyle Newport , Featured Columnist Mar 22, 2016

When it comes to comparing the careers of Jim Brown and Johnny Manziel, there's no debate as to which one was the more productive player.

Brown, a Hall of Fame running back, wins by a landslide. And yet, Johnny Football is moving on to the next round in the Cleveland Sports March Matchups.

Seriously.

In the spirit of March Madness, Cleveland.com has come up with a tournament that features some of the most notable athletes in Cleveland and Ohio State history. The bracket features 16 players from each of the Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

One first-round matchup in the Browns region that should not have had any real intrigue was No. 1-seed Brown against No. 16-seed Manziel. Let's take a look at the matchup by the numbers:

 • Brown (nine seasons): 118 games, 12,312 rushing yards, 5.2 yards per carry, 126 (106 rushing and 20 receiving) touchdowns
 • Manziel (two seasons): 14 games, eight starts, completed 57 percent of passes, 1,675 passing yards, seven touchdowns, seven interceptions, 259 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown
The numbers tell the story: Brown had a much better career in Cleveland than Manziel. In other words, this matchup should have produced a blowout.

When the results were revealed, there was indeed a blowout—just not the one you would think (or at least hope):

 • Brown: 31.78 percent
 • Manziel: 68.22 percent
Come on, Cleveland. You're better than that.

It is important to note that Twitter user @Reflog_18 led a campaign to "wreck the poll" (a la Manziel saying he wanted to "wreck this league") and get the quarterback to advance. And because social media is a powerful tool, it worked.

Manziel may have been cut less than two years after being drafted in the first round by the Browns, but he is one step closer to being voted as the greatest Brown ever. Because Cleveland sports.

And THAT'S why the contemporary Browns are the Browns........

Apparently not.

It was a Twitter poll? Most of those Twitter users are probably young enough to relate to Johnny Manziel and his partying ways. They have likely never watched Jim Brown play, although it does seem a bit disrespectful to show so much ignorance for your own sports history.

It would be like Houston Texans (Oilers) fans voting for Ryan Mallett over Earl Campbell as their best sports hero from their city. It would be maddening and troubling to me as a Houston sports fan.

Cleveland sports fans don't respect themselves then so be it.

Jerry Jones wants to help Johnny Manziel before signing him
1:41 AM ET
 • Todd ArcherESPN Staff Writer

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Before Jerry Jones considers signing Johnny Manziel to play quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, he wants the former Heisman Trophy winner to get his life turned around.

"The overwhelming response and the overwhelming mentality is for him, if we're involved in any way, to help and encourage him to get it together, to get his issue improved because those issues, in my mind, not talent, are why he is free today," Jones said Tuesday at the NFL owners meetings. "It's those issues, and those issues are the overriding consideration here, and how and what basis that those can be dealt with and addressed."

After a troubling rookie season, Manziel spent 10 weeks in rehab. In 2015, he spent the final week of the season in Vegas and missed a medical test for a concussion. A Dallas grand jury is now deciding whether Manziel should be charged for allegedly abusing his ex-girlfriend.

Jones said he has not spoken to Manziel since the Cleveland Browns released the QB. Jones also has not spoken to Manziel's new agent, Drew Rosenhaus. According to sources, at a personnel meeting at the end of the 2015 season, Manziel's name was mentioned as a possible quarterback candidate, and the thought was rejected.

Jones looked to draft Manziel in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, but he stuck with his scouting department, and the Cowboys took Zack Martin. Jones, however, has lamented missing out on Manziel on numerous occasions, even as the quarterback struggled in Cleveland.

Jones spoke deliberately when addressing Manziel. In the past, Jones has helped players who had off-the-field troubles. Josh Brent worked in a warehouse during his suspension from the NFL and last year worked in the team's scouting department after he retired from football.

"I would in any way offer to help him work to be where we all are rooting for him to be, which is having a successful life and football career," Jones said. "I would do that. You say, 'Well, is that because of football?' Well, I might not have been aware of this, had it not been for football. I'm aware of it.

"With that, with me, comes a motivation, if it's appropriate within the rules or within the guidelines of the NFL, if we can be of help in the promise of being a part of the NFL through the Cowboys, I certainly look to that. But … I don't even dare, right now, go into picturing him in a training camp or an OTA or him in a ballgame. You don't go there."

Well, based on all that, I guess Cleveland gets what it deserves. That's just pathetic.

It's in the genes. Is this a look into what the future holds for JFF?

Relative of Johnny Manziel in jail again
Published on Wednesday, 30 March 2016 12:33 - Written by CORY MCCOY, comccoy@tylerpaper.com
Bobby Joe Manziel III
Bobby Joe Manziel III is back behind bars and accused of driving while intoxicated for at least the third time.

Manziel, 53, is the cousin of former Brown's football player Johnny Manziel's father. Bobby Joe most recently made news for leading authorities on a chase that stretched from Denton to Love County, Oklahoma in July 2015.

Manziel has multiple run-ins with the law since last July. He was extradited back to Denton to face charges for the chase. In November, Manziel was picked up by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office for public intoxication.

On March 4, he was arrested by the Department of Public Safety in Smith County for driving while intoxicated. On Tuesday, he was picked up again by the sheriff's office for another DWI. He also is facing a charge of obstructing a police officer in Kiowa, Oklahoma, from January.

Manziel has pleaded guilty to more than a dozen charges since 1991. He also has been arrested many more times.
Johnny Manziel seen partying at Chris Brown concert

Written by Rachel Wold

In some cases, misery loves company.

While the Dallas grand jury decides the fate of ex-Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel, relating to domestic violence allegations made by his ex-girlfriend, he has been hitting the party scene hard.

This past weekend, photos and video captured Manziel hanging out a Drai’s beach club in Las Vegas, watching Chris Brown in concert.

VIDEO [That's not a bottle of Perrier:beerfunnel:] [sorry video link not working.....can access video by clicking on article title and scrolling down.]

It is good to know that Manziel is keeping fabulous company while enjoying his unemployment away from the NFL. Brown was convicted on felony domestic violence charges after he attacked his former girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.

According to a report by Joe Kinsey of Busted Coverage, Manziel appears to be getting his groove on to Brown’s song “Ayo.” The lyrics are too inappropriate and offensive to post.

Manziel’s choice of venue doesn’t exactly help him with his current public image. Though, not much the quarterback has done over the past 24 months has settled well with most people who are concerned about his persona. Manziel’s father recently shared his concerns about his son not living to see his 24th birthday.

Whether Manziel ever plays in the NFL game is the least of his worries. This is despite a recent report from his agent claiming multiple teams are interested in him.

Perhaps Manziel is just soaking in what he can while he waits to find out if his ultimate destination might be a jail cell, pending the grand jury findings.
His high profile high priced agent has evidently not sold him a clue.:spy:

When is Johnny Manziel going to give up his partying ways? At 25, 30, 35? His NFL career is on the line. It's time to become a leader of men, Johnny! Get signed by another NFL team and work hard, showcase your talents. Your partying weekends should be nothing more than playing Playstation 4 or XBOX One, eating pizza and watching movies or TV shows on Netflix.

Hanging out with Chris Brown after his concert? Isn't he the singer that beat up Rihanna back in 2009? He's known for domestic violence. The last guy I'd want Johnny to be hanging out with right now.

Unbelievable. I've lost faith in Johnny already. And I was probably his last fan and supporter still giving him a chance.

Johnny Manziel finally regrets something: an Instagram post
By Mark W. Sanchez
April 3, 2016 | 4:01pm

Flipping a middle finger to the Redskins in the preseason; a trip to rehab amid nonstop partying; seemingly endless backslides toward alcohol, with picture evidence popping up near daily; getting benched after sneaking off to Las Vegas incognito with a concussion; allegedly assaulting an ex-girlfriend; getting released by the Browns.

And now, an unemployed Johnny Manziel finds himself thinking maybe he had one bad idea: posting a picture of his tattoo to Instagram.

0403-johnny-manziel-tatoo.vadapt.664.high.92.jpg

The free agent quarterback decided he probably shouldn’t have posted his newest ink, a Rolex logo on his hand, and quickly deleted the shot after a short shelf life Sunday. The irony of deleting an image of a forever tattoo likely was lost on the 23-year-old.

The screenshot of his tattoo lives, thankfully preserved by The Score. Along with the crown of the luxurious watch company on his right hand, he also had Roman numerals etched nearby, translating to 12-6-92 — his birthday.

The tattoo, then ensuing internet whitewashing, are just the latest in a career that’s mystifying at best, frightening at worst. From a Heisman winner at Texas A&M to a first-round Cleveland pick to mostly unimpressive play and escalating off-the-field problems, Manziel’s fall has been swift. Now, he’s just hoping for work — and a Rolex sponsorship, perhaps.

It was just four years ago (2012 season) when Johnny Manziel made a name for himself against #1 ranked Alabama.

Johnny Manziel throws an incredible TD pass in a 29-24 upset victory over No. 1 Alabama.

At least we can remember Johnny's good old days. His football career is about to be completely over, at 23 years old. For shame, Johnny. Stop partying every night!!!!!!!!

Part of me is hoping he did it all to get out of Cleveland. However, if that were the case, you'd think he'd straighten up as soon as they released him. Poor kid. He did to himself & all, I understand that. Still...

Hes been "sheltered" since his days in kerrville by his parents. They played the "let Johnny be johnny" card here. I guess that he would learn from his mistakes and grow up. Well what he needed was some parenting and discilplin. Be a man and when he screwed up pay the consequences instead of being babied or protected from of it.

Johnny is a pretty cool guy when he's actually sober enough. He definitely wasn't drinking here because he was driving his own car. He has a good playful attitude. Not too full of himself to take some selfies with some kids.

I hope some team signs him. Maybe the Los Angeles Rams? He would have to beat out Case Keenum for the job if he went there. I actually think he could beat out a guy like Keenum if he became serious about becoming a good pro quarterback.

Talk about polar opposites. One is a workaholic and one is an alcoholic.

Based on little Johnny's past I wouldn't bet money on it. He certainly has a good attitude when it comes to selling himself or convincing others he's on board to put in the work to succeed. Then the actual work starts and the façade falls apart.

Based on what he's done on and off the field why do YOU seriously believe he wants to be in the NFL? I'd like know why because everything he's done since being in the league shows that he can't hack it, doesn't want it and doesn't need it.

The grand jury in Dallas that Manziel's case was turned over to ended its term last week without hearing the case. The new grand jury is expected to be seated within a week to 10 days.

Johnny was born in the wrong generation and unfortunately has not adjusted to today's expectations. Now back in the Namath/McMahon era he would have fit in quite nicely.

From what I understand, this was just Gary reaching out to Manziel. Has/had nothing to do with football. More like "life coaching." A friend of a friend asked him to reach out.

Johnny Manziel is living with Von Miller, unless he isn’t
April 10, 2016, 7:56 PM EDT

Free-agent quarterback Johnny Manziel doesn’t have a team. But he claims he has a roommate.

I’m living out here with my guy, Von Miller,” Manziel told TMZ on Saturday night, via ESPN.com. “Everybody knows Von Miller. Super Bowl MVP, Von Miller, my brother. I’m living with him right now. We’re getting our lives together, bro.”

Here’s the problem, bro. Miller’s life already is together, bro. Yours isn’t, bro.

In contrast, Miller has overcome his own personal issues. In 2013, Miller was suspended by the NFL after reportedly attempting to circumvent the NFL’s substance abuse policy by working with the sample collector to best the testing process.

There’s another problem with Manziel’s story, bro. It’s apparently not true.

Mike Klis of 9News.com reports that Manziel and Miller are currently not living together. Per Klis, Miller is living in housing provided by ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. And ABC’s Dancing with the Stars is not providing housing to Manziel.

This doesn’t change the fact that Miller has openly lobbied, on multiple occasions, for the Broncos to add Manziel. But if anyone thinks Miller would be able to take Manziel under Miller’s wing and get Manziel to truly get his life together, bro, think again.

As one source with knowledge of Manziel’s decisions and lifestyle during his first two NFL seasons recently told PFT, “Nobody can mentor him. If he’s not going to listen to LeBron James, he’s not going to listen to Von Miller. . . . Either [Manziel] is going to make his own decision to be a professional/get his sh-t together or he’s not. His choice.”

For now, Manziel apparently has chosen to misrepresent his living arrangements, in an apparent effort to create the impression that he’s making the kinds of decisions he needs to make in order to get back into the NFL.

He's not even a good con artist.
