CLEVELAND, Ohio —
A person identifying himself as Josh Gordon was with Johnny Manziel at a rented home in the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles last week that was damaged, with alcohol and what appeared to be drugs readily visible, the owner of the rental agency told cleveland.com on Friday.
Nicholas Goodwin said he never saw Gordon or Manziel doing drugs or drinking, but he said he saw what appeared to be cocaine on a table and other substances that appeared to be mushrooms and marijuana when the two were in the home, where two days of partying took place.
Gordon had his petition for reinstatement to the NFL from his drug ban denied on Tuesday, a day after a report surfaced that he failed a drug test in March. He can reapply for reinstatement Aug. 1, and his agent,
Drew Rosenhaus, said he is confident that Gordon will be reinstated this time around. Rosenhaus, who recently took on Manziel as a client, is instead in the process of dropping him.
Manziel has been served with a legal demand for almost $32,000 in damages and fees for the multi-million-dollar home, according to Goodwin, who owns LA Exotic Life rental agency and rented the home to Manziel April 4-6.
The New York Post first reported that Manziel is in jeopardy of being sued and published photos of the damage, including what appeared to be illegal drugs in the home.
The troubled former Browns quarterback's week began with the two nights of parties at the house. It ended with him being a passenger in an accident in which the car — especially the passenger side — was badly mangled, according to photos obtained by TMZ Sports. The site also reported that Gordon picked Manziel up at the scene of the crash Saturday night after Manziel and the driver, Ryan Silverstein, returned to the vehicle.
The two initially had fled by foot after hitting a light pole, according to TMZ Sports.
