Sounds like there is going to be a lot of "teaching" from the coaches after today

Apparently awfulNo reports on how our QBs looked today?
No live bullets, as QBs were off limits today. Accuracy issues from both at times. Neither special, from what I gathered. No reports on how our QBs looked today?
24 observations from day two of Texans vs. Redskins
John Harris|Texans Analyst
4. The story for the Texans today was Brian Hoyer leading the second offense during the day. Since minicamp and OTAs when one of the two quarterbacks took snaps with the second group, it was a struggle at times. But, today, Hoyer lifted the two unit throughout the day. During the team’s first team period versus Washington’s nickel scheme, he threw a dart to Keith Mumphery for a first down. He then lofted one to Jonathan Grimes for another long gain.

But, had it been a game situation, he wouldn’t have even got rid of the ball. I focused that rep on JJ Watt who was matched up with former Iowa Hawkeye rookie guard Brandon Scherff. Watt beat Scherff on that rep so badly, that the rookie didn’t even get out of his stance before Watt shot past him. 99 was so brutally quick off the ball and didn’t give the rookie a chance. Watt then ran past RGIII as the former Heisman Trophy winner launched his beautiful pass for the TD.
I'm listening to 610 radio here in Houston and right now John (Hollywood) McClain is reporting from TC in Ricmond, Va and he's saying that
X. Su’a-Filo is still running second team behind undrafted Titans failure Jeff Adams who we picked up from the Titans last year when he was released by them. And as Mcclain says this guy is a major disappointment. All I can say is wow !
What about the possibility that protection broke down and he managed to get the pass off and not take a sack?![]()
The mechanics must have been great on that pass..........
Given that O'Brien has said that he's mixing and matching O-line guys in TC, I wouldn't read a lot into where anyone is playing until the preseason games start when (I hope) O'Brien should be done 'tinkering'.

I see two behind him and one ahead of him. And that is only a fewThat explanation would almost be reasonable................ if there was a Redskin within a mile of Hoyer......![]()
Hey man, X is being outplayed by an undrafted FA who is playing out of his usual position (he's a tackle, not a guard), after we got him from the Titans who cut him.X hasn't played with the starters apparently. No one else is being mixed and matched. Both OB and smith have commented specifically about X needing to get better. Pre season starts in a week.
If X starts that first pre season game it'll be because he's been elevated from 2nd team because that's where he is right now.

I have to give it to you, you've got the patience of Job and your optimism is unfailing. I'm worried, the guy is looking more and more like a bust.

You know who Danny Watkins is ? This guy is starting to sound like Watkins who was a guard drafted in the first round by the Eagles a couple years ago and released after just 2 seasons in the NFL.
The Philadelphia Eagles have run out of patience with guard Danny Watkins.
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Saturday that Watkins -- a first-round draft pick in 2011 -- is being released, per a source informed of the transaction. The Eagles later confirmed Watkins' release.
Why was he a fav pick of yours at the time he was drafted ? All I can remember is being so surprised we'd use such a high Draft pick on an interior lineman ? You know last years Draft was considered a very good Draft, very deep, and the 1st of the second round, 33rd overall was virtually a late first round pick. A big thing was the opportunity cost of the pick because for example there was still several very good QB prospects on the Board when they took the X-man at 33.Su'a-Filo was one of my favorite picks from that draft. If he busts, I'm going to be very sad.

I dunno, the 2014 Draft in general so far has been such a big disappointment and this is guy is maybe the biggest reason. Maybe it will turn around with some good news soon
about some of these young prospects from last years Draft ?
Excellent explanation. And I do agree with your philosophy which I think put another way is that the game is won/lost at the los so prioritize linemen on both defense and offenseI didn't like any of the top QB prospects last year. Even if TB had been there at 33, I didn't want him. Not at 33. I didn't want any of those QBs before the third round.
I generally believe in building teams from the inside out, not from the outside in. I didn't particularly like Ben Jones at LG, and thought we needed to upgrade that position. I liked the X pick because I felt like we got an extra first rounder. I felt like X was easily a first round talent, and in my mocks, he wasn't even there at 33. I liked the X pick, because I felt it signaled a continuation of the shift to a bigger, more athletic interior of our line, continuing on with the Brooks pick. I liked the X pick, because I felt like it sent the message that we were going to be a team that was going to line up and beat you at the line.
I was surprised that we took him, but I liked the message.
One still frame of a bunch of top shelf athletes moving at or near top speed doesn't tell what may have happend in the one-half to two or three seconds leading up to it being snapped. Hoyer could have evaded a rush and just been getting himself back to some kind of launch point, the depth perception could be tricky in the photo, the lineman in front of him could actually be much closer and have been right in a path he was headed. Who knows?
I can't stand the idea of Hoyer being our qb, and so I couldn't give a rip to defend him personally, but a photo like that can be a tricky read is all.

It's a dream for HBO. No doubt. I noticed the Hard Knocks crew right away. LOLDeepi Sidhu @DeepSlant
Fights galore at camp today, both fields at same time. #HardKnocks getting lots of footage.
Teams on separate fields now.

Damn!
Vince Wilfork has the strength to occupy two or three blockers.
Good explanation and good reasoning as to why we should be, guardedly, optimistic about the move to OC. We just need to give him the playing time to settle into his natural position and then we may have our center for the next 5 years or so....I view the Ben Jones narrative differently than most. He was drafted in the fourth as an eventual replacement for Chris Myers & depth at both the center & guard position. However, he impressed the coaches so much when opportunity presented itself, he was promoted to a starting position over the man drafted ahead of him for the RG position. They eventually replaced him with the guy they drafted for the position. He sat on the bench the entire next season, even though our LG struggled all year long. We draft X to fill the void at LG. But because he has to fulfill his college obligations Ben Jones Is given the opportunity to impress his new coaches. He does, & starts the entire next season.
He's not the guy we wanted, but it's pretty obvious the kid can play.
